At 8mm its really hard to MF, no? Cause all looks the same. Too wide. Unlike 300mm easy to MF.

as long the person u want to focus is more than 5 meters, just put it into infinity & shoot away icon_rolleyes.gif

or use smaller aperture, really no need to focus with the 8mm samyang rclxm9.gif

that would be a wrong way to do it. that case, your near subjects will not be sharp. using hyperfocal, setting it to focus at 1 meter at f/4, everything from a few inches in front of the lens all the way to infinity will be in focus

if you are asking about the SSM/USM in lenses, then YES,they are faster & more quiet than screw driven lenses. For SAM,I feel the AF speed is same or sometimes lower than screw-driven tongue.gif Sometimes depends on the lens also,my tamron 17-50 f2.8 is much faster than SAL1870 biggrin.gif

ahpingko : You've already made up your mind. Just that you want some other people to agree with you.

You've already eliminated the 28mm so left 30mm and 35mm.

You've already said having macro is nice so the only choice left is the 30mm macro lens lor...
