QUOTE(dahool00 @ Mar 9 2011, 02:54 PM)
Hello, I plan to get an Android phone.
I am very new as this would be my 1st Android.

I happen to come across Galaxy S SL....i know it is a h/w downgrade from SGS.

I'd like to find out the volume of the SGS loudspeaker. GSMArena mentioned it is below average while Mobile Review said it is strong. I did hear over the counter on SG SL - I think it is pretty OK - at least louder than HTC Desire HD.

Also, any reason why pick SGS over HTC Desire or Desire HD or SE X10?

Hope you guys can answer me as i know my Qs are pretty lame considering u guys are flashing ROMs.

Thks!!!

loudspeaker on sgs is fine. loud enough.

sgs: IMO, most beautiful because of super amoled. you need to see the screen in person. the rest are normal lcd screen. rooting, custom roms are plain easy.
DHD: bigger screen with same resolution with sgs, thus will be a bit less dpi.
htc desire: i recommend this over sgs for my parents smile.gif I would not let my parents tinker with root and custom roms, odin, and deal with RFS sweat.gif A good all round phone. Have big support with the community. Got cyanogenmod too.
se x10: software will not be up to date (officially). better wait for newer SE smartphone. have beautiful customized interface but users will suffer with lack of update to froyo,

It loud actually unless you're attending a party smile.gif

There is an app that can vibrate you phone automatically when you put it in the pocket.

I thought loudspeaker is when during calling, you press loudspeaker button and everyone can hear your conversation. In that case, very loud.

If speaker volume, such as call ringtone. Yes, very loud as well. Cannot miss a call. Unfortunately I don't have iphone 3gs to compare.

Hi Fornaxlife and SGS members,

wanna ask some question from u. How long ur battery live can hold.

Currently im on Darky's 9.3, DamianGTO kernel with UV 1.0, EXT 2.
Currently with this setting my phone can only hold up to 15 hrs ++ only and left out <20% at around 8 pm and <10% at 10 pm.

Normally i discharge morning at 6.00 pm with 98%
data always ON (will of if on standby)
Browsing about 1-2 hrs
push email (corp & gmail)
music around 1 hrs...

Is it acceptable??  rclxub.gif
*
I am having the same. Always hv wall and car charger with me all time in case I need extra mile for the day

Added on March 9, 2011, 7:05 pmJust downgraded darky 9.3 to 9.2. Biggest turn off is the call recording which is set on all time. Sometimes it also make auto playback on last conversation when there is incoming call. I guess there's bug in this feature

Just do it normally. PDA at pda section. Csc at csc at modem at modem.

Set everything up, then connect USB cable. Wait till detected and press start.

err, though you don't oc or uv, you can try damian kernel also.. some claimed it to be faster than speedmod without oc/uv

of course you can't flash all at once.. but if you wanna switch kernels  (for example damian to speedmod), just disable lagfixes and tweaks before proceeding to cwm and you're good to go  icon_idea.gif

if you are switching kernels from (speedmod k12a to k12b), you don't have to disable anything before flashing.. same goes to voodoo and damian

i don't think theres cwm version for stock rom.. lemme check the first page

cwm is for custom roms smile.gif

Hi, Fornaxlife.
I can't find my Tweak option in recovery mode. Only disable lagfix? How about debug?
How is your wifi doing after flash to new modem?

I think you used the wrong ROM, what ROM did you use? Certain ROMs will get stucked at boot screen.
