hi all...

i had a posting on this link about the Golf TSI car..

http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=ST&f...0#entry42314179

i am currently looking at few cars, Peugeot 308 turbo, Ford Focus TDCI n the ghia sedan n my fav is of course the Golf TSI...i am going to check out the car tomorrow n do some test drive...but i would appreciate some feedback from all of you...who are owners of this car or know VM very well..

one thing i have noticed is the poor after sales service comment and also the road noise...is this common?

Thanks,
KV

Added on May 13, 2011, 2:56 pmn also, do suggest a good dealer place to get the car n do the servicing if i indeed choose to buy the golf tsi..

The GTI is a mighty impressive machine. I hit 20xkm/h during my test drive.

the noise i hear from my GTI is my tire sound only..
maybe cause its using RE 050
very little wind noise from the windows

i've seen alot of youtube reviews saying that they improved this MK6 noise so that u wont get alot of wind noise compared to the previous mk5

if i off my radio only thing i can hear from my car is the turbo spooling @ 2.5k rpm and the exhaust sound smile.gif

My max speed on my roc was 228km/hr but that one was due to constant downhill gradient road at LPT on my way to Terengganu. If not speed limited to 220. It's very stable at those kind of speed but I dare to drive that fast in empty highway only. Other times average 120-140 only lar...

In terms of road noise, it depends on the tyres you get but seriously, the cabin is quiet and the only noise that you would probably hear would be the wind noise and that is when you are speeding on the highway smile.gif

If compared to the Pug, the build quality and drive seems nicer on the Golf. You will know once you test drive the Golf. Compared to the Focus, the focus will definitely be the king in these 3 car comparison in terms of fuel consumption because of it's diesel and the crazy torque you get but the torque on the Golf itself is no joke and a simple ECU remap will bring it to 200bhp. Also personally, I like the Golf's look and add in some bodykits, you get a very handsome car.

In terms of dealers, choose one which has a service center near your place. But so far good feedback from Veemer Motors in Old Klang Road, Wearnes and FA Wagen (Both Glenmarie and Jalan 222). Cergaz at TTDI and AMCORP AUTO at Jalan Ipoh are relatively new dealers so not too sure what is their track record on after sales service.

thanks bro smile.gif ...but what i read, the tires that are given are difference for each car rite? i believe it is either bridgestone or dunlop, what do you recommend? if one want to change it...wind noise is common i guess..almost all car has it depending on the speed that you are cruising at...

good to know the Golf has a better build than the Pug...Pug is 1.6 engine rite, the only car that is almost similar to Golf in terms of everything...Civic, Altis, Focus n all are 2.0 engine...n bigger..Focus got hatchback as well though...i am not keen on the diesel version of Focus..how about the non diesel version, is that good? build wise n also the driving experience? i am not a car expert, so how do i get the ECU remap? n how much is the bodykit, i assume you are referring to the gti bodykit rite?

i am planning to go the Jln 222 n the Bangsar sales office..the one near to me will be Sg Besi..

do you drive a VM?

Thanks,
KV

No, there are loads of other bodykits about for the Golf Mk6. The GTI kit is one of them. There is the Golf R kit, there is the Rieger kit, there is the ABT kit, there is the Caratere kit, there is the Votex kit, there is the CSR kit, and LOOOOADS more. Bodykit prices can range from RM2k all the way to RM16k (google the Razor Golf 6 bodykit)

In terms of ECU remapping, there are a lot of brands as well out there, ABT, APR, REVO, Custom remaps, tuning boxes as well.

And, what the heck is VM? Volkswagen Malaysia???

wow a bit surprised seeing gti owners being conservative of speed, those in VGM forums mostly speed like crazy one, 200 is like nothing only, some claimed doing 220km/h for 3 hours sweat.gif is it possible?? those in alfa forums even crazier, all the time talk about tapao2

and wira i thought you are doing a remap in the future? should get used to some high speed

Yup ... but am more interested in the improvement in torque and acceleration. Nowadays, nearly all new cars can go 200+ km/h. All you need is a long and empty enough road.

Usable torque and acceleration is what I'm after.
