I've decided to wait for the new batch GTI which my SA say will arrive on 1st week May. The only new feature confirmed is the front DRL with no price increase but the interest rates will be the normal 2.5-2.7% rates. I just saw today in the showroom the new batch scirocco 2.0, it now comes with USB. I believe this was not in last year's batch? Anyone knows whether the new batch GTI will come with features like say auto cruise, 18" rims or RCD510 perhaps?

Thanks brother ... that looks damn nice thumbup.gif

Did you also do something to the silver parts of the rims? It looks shinier than normal ... looks like it was machined.

Definitely something I'll consider doing when I receive my GTI .... damn stress lah waiting for the stooopid car, can't sleep at night cry.gif

Anyone got a time machine I can borrow?
*
Sigh, I know how you feel. I was just told I will only get the car in mid may. That's still another 2 months away and I may need to let go my current car to my new buyer. Anyone got a GTI that I could rent for a month? tongue.gif

Btw, i suppose you are waiting for the new batch? Where did you book yours? What colour did you choose?

according to my sources new 2011 gti doesnt have 18" detroit wheels, but do have drl headlamp combo.
*
Thanks, I suppose the 18 incher is quite unlikely but I'm hoping USB and Auto Cruise will be included. It doesnt make sense that these are in the 1.4 TSI but not in the 210k GTI!!

Not really ... actually getting the 2010 car. Can't wait any longer and was attracted with all the discounts offered and the low interest rate. I'm a bit kedekut you see tongue.gif

Actually booked mine at Sunway Pyramid (they were having some sort of show) last week and got lots of freebies. The show was attached to the Glenmarie branch and so far no complaints ... very flexible, responsive and quick to act (stuff like loan application, etc).

Was split between grey and black initially but in the end opted for black. Senang sikit matching with my clothes hehehehehehehe
*
I see. Well, you should be getting your car in the next week or so! I'm sure you'll have a blast with it. Cant wait for mine..

yes indeed the silver part is also painted/machined not so sure of the right word. this color is similar to 18" detroits mk6, while the mk5 on 18" detroits have dark gray on the inside
side by side comparison 17" denver vs 18" detroits

they will do it around 5 days, and they will also loan you 17" denvers temporarily as well.

Wow, this is nice. I will definitely do this on my 17" denver when my car arrives.

Aiyoh...if the rcd310 sux...then my  rcd210 super sux!!!

RCD 310 in the GTI MK6 makes the dashboard looks really plain and cheap for a car that cost more than 200k. Not much difference from the audio head units on perodua cars. I'm definitely changing mine to RCD 510 or RNS 510 when my car arrives. RCD 310 doesnt do justice to the Mk6 dashboard. Singaporeans gets RNS, sunroof and 18" detroits though a Mk6 in Singapore cost almost SGD 180k

Agreed, I will change to RCD/RNS 510 if I buy the golf.(still consider tsi or gti) hmm.gif
btw, where can we get the 510?
when will u get yor car? what color u order?
*
There are a few places that sells and installs the 510. I'm getting the candy white GTI. Most probably getting mine from FA Wagen 222 though I'm still scouting from different dealers for the best deal. I've not booked mine yet, planning to do so this weekend. If you've not booked yours, perhaps you can PM me, we could purchase together and see if we could get a better deal. If there's anyone else out there thinking of booking your VW soon, we could gang up and negotiate for a bulk purchase discount ;-)

I was initially tempted to buy the 2010 stock with all the discounts but decided to wait for the new batch instead. I was told from FA Wagen that I could get my car by mid May if i were to make my booking by this week.

But I guess I wont be booking so soon until my current car gets a firm deal.  sad.gif

Well, that decision is a personal choice. If you can afford it, go for the GTI. I've test driven both cars many times and the GTI is a whole different animal altogether.

Not sure man, gotta do some calculations.
I've driven both TSI and GTI too. GTI is not only powerful but it also looks cool in every angle.
On the other hand, TSI looks a bit too auntie-ish. TSI to GTI conversion in terms of outlook, it's still better to have the real thing.  hmm.gif
*
Yeah the exterior factor too. The TSI is still an awesome car for that price level, it will easily blow away the 2.4 accords, camrys, 2.5 mazda6 making them look silly on the road. However, for the GTI, well you are in the league of the Audi A4 S line, Merc C300, and BMW 325, bearing in mind these cars costs so much more. If you remap the GTI to stage 1 260hp, we are talking about taking on entry level porsche boxsters, evos, BMW 335...

Ya, that will be great if we can get a good deal for bulk purchase.

What kind of discounts u get for 2010 stock? What make u decided to wait for 2011 stock? (in fact, I did consider to wait for new batch too)
I was told that there is not much different for the 2011 stock except with DRL headlight. ( another SA told me is rear LED light instead  hmm.gif )
*
There are various packages for the 2010 stock from different dealers. Mostly in forms of low interest rates, free tint, rear LED or one time discounts. Check with a few dealers for the details. Maybe the thought of these old stocks sitting in the warehouse for so many months kind of make me want to wait for the "fresh new stock". It's just me and my weird thinking, no right or wrong i guess. The new stock confirmed will come with front DRL (as confirmed by various SAs) and these lights are worth about 5k. If there are additional new stuff in the new stocks, then its a bonus..

I was told the 2011 car will only come in end of may n not much diff compare to 2010 except DRL headlight.   Am I right? unsure.gif
Different SA given diff info....sigh!  hmm.gif
*
Yup, different dealers are giving different info. My SA confirmed I will get mine in mid May. Other dealers have no clue when it will arrive, some saying its already here but VGM will not release them until all 2010 stocks are sold. VGM better release the new cars by May if there are still leftover of old stocks as it's already mid of the year by then! What if the old stocks are still not sold by August? Get our 2011 cars only in November 2011? If VGM wants to get rid of the old stocks, they have to give better incentives than just giving low interest rates and 4k discount.

But yes, it is confirmed that the new batch does come with front DRL.

A bit off the current topic but I hope you'll indulge me ...

Went to the showroom to pay my downpayment and had a look at my car, pretty sad that I can't drive it off yet cause I'm still waiting for my number to come up (still under tender) ... don't think I'll be able to sleep at night from now on until I get the car.

Anyways, decided that the first thing to do to the car is to get it tinted. I've had Ecotint on my wife's car for about a year now and can't complain. Was wondering if any of you have any other recommendations (or real life experiences) as to what tint is good for a Golf GTI?

Thanks

Oh ... and had a look at the 2011 Golf TSI parked next to my car and confirmed that it comes with the DRL but unfortunately normal rear lights. Initially thought that I wounldn't want the DRL but it's growing on me ... damn! mad.gif
*
I'm not familiar with Ecotint but I believe it is the lower grade tint brand and is very affordable. How much did you paid for your ecotint and does it comes with security film? My understanding of the few established brands so far (please correct me if i'm wrong)
Vkool - most popular and feedback has been quite good when it comes to heat features but I was told smartag have issues, though some claim they had no problem.
3M - one of the best tint brands globally and excellent in heat features but is known to have smartag issues and no security film?
Llumar - seems to be getting very popular here now and works well in both heat and security features. Anyone used Crystal 6 before? I'm considering this for the GTI
Huper Optik - German brand and I'm using this brand in my current car which was packaged with the car i bought. So far so good with the heat features and comes with security film. However, it doesnt seem like a popular brand as I don't hear much of it

went and tested both the A4 2.0 S-line Q and also the BMW 320D. dunno why din leave such a strong impact. Tho handling i must say, both cars are just excellent. on our golf still feels a bit hesitant when taking hard corners at fast speed. but on the A4 it was just so smooth and still accelerating when negotiating the corner at glenmarie and at subang airport roundabout. However for kick and also the fun factor, after jumping back into my golf, still find it more zippy and more kick in the acceleration. can feel the punch when you tekan. both on the a4 & 320d though on paper higher horse but probably due to the weight... don't have that kick. Probably due to the fast change on our DSG thus the feel of the power.  So decided to hold on to my desire for the bigger sedans and will probably get a rocco...    Any new facelift / gadgets for the 2011 rocco ?
*
I was considering between 320D and GTI few weeks back and decided on the GTI for few reasons. BMW 3 series is going to be replaced by new model next year since its launch in 2005. Already 6 years model. And yes, though the 320D has much higher torque, the GTI gives better kick on acceleration. Also, GTI has much better resale value. The 3 series resale value sucks. As for A4 2.0 S-Line, its more than 300k, not a fair price comparison. On paper, the 320D has less hp than GTI. A4 power is about the same as GTI

I'm booking my GTI soon too. Probably getting the 2010 stock.
Wondering if there's any candy whites left.
The other day my friend told me there's only 1 left. Hopefully it's still available.
BTW, mind sharing when will the 2011 stock coming in? Heard there's still no ETA yet.
My friend too didn't dare to confirm, in case his customers are blaming him for giving any empty promises.
*
I believe there's no more candy white 2010 but you can try and check again. I was promised that I will get my car by mid May, so keeping my fingers crossed on that.

If you are a single female or a small size guy, with hardly any passengers on board and if power/weight ratio is important to you, then get Polo Gti.
If you are not the above, Golf is obviously the better choice...

Yup. Tiguan, XC60 and Mazda CX-7 all under my consideration. Seem like Tiguan got good Spec & Feature.
*
Go for Tiguan. My friend in Aussie remapped his Tiguan to 254hp and almost 400nm torque. That will blow the XC60 and CX-7 flat on a straight line. Even a standard Tiguan will blow the XC60 away. XC60 only does a miserable 8.9 sec and cost about RM300k and it is CKD. Mazda Cx-7 is 2.3 and road tax is almost double plus I heard it is a fuel guzzler. And dont forget the Tiguan comes with 5 years unlimited warranty.

Hey Guys, just joined this forum. Currently driving a black Golf TSI mk6. Got the car 1 month ago. Anyway, just to share my experience with FA Wagen Johor. I bought my car in kl but since I'm stationed in Johor for the time being, decided to bring my car for the 1st service here in johor. First impression, not good. They were sharing the same place with volvo. I thought "Geez, this is going to take a long tim". And I was right. Came in at 10 in the morning and quoted my car will be ready only after 15:00. Since I'm off that day and the car had 300 km over due, what the heck. The service advisor is not friendly enough. I mean, c'mon, the least he could do was talk to me politely. Anyway, after 15.30, the car was still not ready. By this time I was already smoking 3 cigs in a row to control my anger. Got my car back at 16.00 and they've washed it. I checked under the hood and everything seemed to be ok except the coolant level in the expansion tank was too high. Had to siphon it out. And I was charged RM554 without alignment and balancing.  I will take the pain of driving back to kl and will never bring my car again to them. Anyway, care to share your experience on servicing your car?

PS: I was quoted RM1700 for the next service at 30k km.
*
No way 30k service should be RM1.7K! I have the schedule service list from FA Wagen. 30k service is listed as RM861.
