Heyya Veedubbers.

Just wanna ask question in this thread. I dont want to create new unnecessary thread to post this question. I'm a noob so forgive me if my question is a little bit off topic, but i really need your opinion guys.

Im 26-year-young

Just Graduated, Professional.

Take home pay RM 7850 ++ on the lowest, could go higher if i spend more hours on the job.

Virtually no long term debts to pay as of now.

I'm looking for a Golf 1.4 TSI as my first car. My heart says get it, my brain says hold, and get cheaper car.

I wonder if you guys here earn more than me, or about as little as mine before deciding to get this car. i know mine is quite on the low side, just wanna hear your frank opinions.

and please, spare me from your sarcasm if this post makes me look like i wanna show off my pay. Really, i didnt mean it.

TQ in advance.

Yup ... but am more interested in the improvement in torque and acceleration. Nowadays, nearly all new cars can go 200+ km/h. All you need is a long and empty enough road.

Usable torque and acceleration is what I'm after.
*
Yea, even civic can go 200km/h.
Never tried on mine b4 i sold it off though.
But seriously, I was cruising on MEX just now and a civic just tailgated me when I was at 140-180km/h.
I was only able to shake him off at over 200km/h. I'm feeling the stress trying to drive so fast especially with the traffic during peak hours cry.gif

thanks bro  smile.gif ...but what i read, the tires that are given are difference for each car rite? i believe it is either bridgestone or dunlop, what do you recommend? if one want to change it...wind noise is common i guess..almost all car has it depending on the speed that you are cruising at...

good to know the Golf has a better build than the Pug...Pug is 1.6 engine rite, the only car that is almost similar to Golf in terms of everything...Civic, Altis, Focus n all are 2.0 engine...n bigger..Focus got hatchback as well though...i am not keen on the diesel version of Focus..how about the non diesel version, is that good? build wise n also the driving experience? i am not a car expert, so how do i get the ECU remap? n how much is the bodykit, i assume you are referring to the gti bodykit rite?

i am planning to go the Jln 222 n the Bangsar sales office..the one near to me will be Sg Besi..

do you drive a VM?

Thanks,
KV

I think you are talking about NA cars and FI cars...

NA - Civic 2.0, Altis 2.0, Focus 2.0 (petrol)
FI - Golf 1.4 TSI, Pug 308 1.6 Thp, Focus 2.0 TDCi...

What is so unique about FI is small capacity but produce torque and power way above other cars with similiar capacity.. (e.g.. Golf 1.4TSI and 308 1.6 Thp performance is almost on par with a normal 2.4L car say Camry or Accord)..

What you need to feel in FI cars is the low rpm torque that pull your brain back to your head when you press on the gas pedal which you dont feel that much in an NA car although FI cars have lower CC.. You will be amazed when you press on Golf, 308 or Focus TDCi..

please test drive at show unit which is closer to highway... (eg. Penchala or Puchong which u can use Kesas)... Bangsar will be jam and road is small.. no chance to tekan on the car.. my 2 cents..

sorry mate...what does the acronym NA and FI stands for?

your feedback is about the same of what the rest has to say..which is good, meaning a standard answer n no BS..thanks dude...

i am doing the test drive at the jalan 222, so i should be able get into the federal n then either go to LDP or drive towards klang...should be good enough to test i guess..i didnt know there is a sales office at Puchong...

Thanks,

Is that a civic 2.0 tailgating you? Hmm a GTI should be able to shake him off easily if the road is clear flex.gif

honestly...get a prop first. I truly regret not getting a property first in my early 20s (i got nice cars instead)

Now im in my 30s, i kongsi with my wife, took out EPF money to buy 2 props, combined rental from 2 props is 4k+, if i had started 10 years ago...by now can drive a A5 biggrin.gif

You dont need big money to invest in rental props, even 15k is enough to start on a small apartment

But....on the other side of the coin...u only live once, so why not enjoy. a TSi would cost you about 2k-2.5k in monthly repayments depending on loan amount and tenure, if you can afford it..why not

not really... anything above 140kph or so, our KO3 turbos run out of steam, not suprising that a civic can keep up. The GTI is a great car...but lets not overstate its capabilities. A stock GTI would not be able to "tarpau" normal 2.0NA sedans above 145kph.....at traffic lights, or city speeds below 120, no problem....but on long straights at highway speeds, we wont make ppl "eat smoke"

Thanks for your advice friend, Yeah i was thinking about investing in a prop too but im a human, cant help but to envy those lucky fellas driving Golf. Such a nice, sleek and powerful car.

My plan is to save until early next year for Golf downpayment, about 10% or more. Havent decided yet. If i didnt buy golf i would throw all my money in a property somewhere in Seremban 2 perhaps, that's part of the plan too.

As you said, we only live once so why dont try and feel the nicest things right. So i'm trying very hard to come out with a logic to get Golf instead of a house end of this year or next year.

BTW im single and doesnt have much commitment.

Kavia,

The Focus 2.0 is only 108k after discount, its a great value for money car and you save rm45k+ over the TSI

I had a mk5 and now a roc, but when it was time to upgrade my wifes car, i got the Focus 2.0 hatch, comfortable, handles well and most importantly alot cheaper then its peers ie M3, Civic etc.

Are you getting the hissing noise at 2.5-3k rpm? As of now, I still dont like the noise. Just hope i can get used to it.
*
yeah bro... around 2.2k rpm..
its the sound of the turbo spooling smile.gif
cause the turbo turbine is at the back of the car engine thats why u can hear it when the radio is off..

i'm loving the sound actually haha

how about the sedan version, is it good?

Thanks,

Go with the property man, seriously, cars are not appreciating assets. I definitely agree with what jwrx is saying here. Just save up enough for two down payments, one for the Golf and one for the property. Logic wise, one would target a property which can gain high rental yields (preferably one that can cover the loan repayments). That way, one asset is paying for itself while you can then save for the Golf (probably the Mk7 by then tongue.gif). In a way, you can then have your cake and eat it too without burdening yourself with too many loan repayments.

Yeah, though i didnt really like the hissing sound, i love it when the "vroom" sound kicks in. That sound is music to my ears rclxms.gif . Speaking of radio, I actually find the sound of the stock audio not too bad, just that the low end bass not deep enough. Perhaps a sub might help. I am very tempted to get RNS but not sure if the money will be well spent as honestly, I wont use the GPS very often. Still in dilemma about this hmm.gif

yea the speakers are not that bad actually haha..
just put 1 monoblock + sub should be enough... if not mistaken there is amps powering the speaker thats why the sound quality is quite nice..

for me i dont think i'll change to 510 looks nice but not really neccesarry for me.. smile.gif
for that price i rather change full set APR turboback exhaust..
