I've simplified the instructions from many sources together into one compilation below, credits were duly honored to the original writers in the source section below.

Things to Do Before Proceeding
1. Battery is full.
2. Have the *.apk files of your favorite apps on PC if possible. Less hassle to find and install back afterwards.
3. Make sure LG Phone USB driver is PROPERLY INSTALLED.
4. I will not be held responsible should anything undesirable happen to your phone.

Firmware & Rooting
##Downgrading firmware##
1. Download v10c here.
2. Download and extract LG KDZ Updater.
3. Install msxml.msi, and load DZ_FW_UPD.exe.
4. Set the option to 3GQCT and DIAG.
5. Load the firmware downloaded earlier, and launch the update. The phone will display EMERGENCY MODE! sign, but it's supposed to do so.
6. Look at the update window, it will say 'COMPLETE' after you run it about 5 minutes roughly. Your phone will reboot when it's done.
*this is the same method to upgrade to newer original LG ROM or downgrade to older original LG ROM.

##Rooting##
1. Download z4root, transfer to phone and install.
2. Set to USB debug mode in setting.
3. Load z4root, and click permanent root (it is still unrootable). It should take less than 5 minutes.

Flashing with Custom ROMs
##Things to download## (I'm using VOID ROM as example)
1. Download .void ROM.
2. Download Terminal Emulator and install on phone.
3. Download Custom Recovery Tool Image and its Flash Image, and put them into SD root (the main folder of SD card). Remember, the *.img file, not the *.zip file.

##System Recovery and Flashing##
1. Load Terminal Emulator on phone.
2. Type "su" (without quotes) and press enter, the $ should now become #.
3. Type exactly what is in the spoiler, down right to capital letters and spacing. Line by line (rotate your phone horizontally for easy view).

*an error will appear when you register the 4th line, it's OK so leave it be.

4. Switch off the phone after completion. Now, reboot into recovery mode by pressing and holding power button, volume down button and home button. Use volume button as up and down keys, menu button as Enter/Yes.
5. Run Nand Backup External
6. Run Partition SD card. You must do each menu available step by step (the last step would be ext3 to ext4).
7. Run Wipe All, then reboot.
8. Connect the USB to your phone, transfer the .void ROM (zipfile) to SD root. Disconnect the USB cable, and reboot.
9. Boot into System Recovery again (power, low volume and home button).
10. Select Flash menu, choose the .void ROM, and initiate flashing.
11. Reboot, and this time it will take a while (around 5 minutes for first boot).
12. Should be running on .voiD (or any custom ROM) by now.

mine so far so good, nothing problem occur,

can someone describe more detail about this phone.. advantages & disadvantages.. the performance.. scrolling.. gaming.. browsing..

coz one of my frenz would like to get this one..

You can read about the advantages and disadvantages when you compare to other phones. I guess one of the advantages is the price.
Browsing is smooth even with stock LG firmware, with custom ROM it'll be super smooth.
Same goes to gaming, most games are smooth but there's a bug where the CPU will spike after touching the screens too much, but there's already a fix for that (unofficial).

Not working for me after i hv tick both phone & sim.

Looking forward to flashing void #f when it comes out. Anyone else managed to OC it past 730mhz? I'll only OC it to 730mhz when I need it for gaming. Otherwise it's not very stable, at least for me... Random reboot and freeze.

I have no problem in OC to 730.

I have no problem to operate at 730Mhz too. Even the battery drain is not as bad as I thought it would be.

i delete ndrive maps, which free me almost 500mb.
well, papago x5 took almost 650mb...
apps are all very small, is enough de..
i still have 40mb onboard memory, and 400+mb on sd card
angry bird, i never have much complaint, all stages are playable, with satisfactory performance.
of cos la,some stage have to wait a while for the lag to pass.

and just now i use my phone,it say firmware update and update to v10E 000 ??

try the latest cm7 rom from mik... but stil got bug... its gud..

NO. buy a new one with at least CLS 4, 4gb storage.
is dangerous and therefore no one dare to try root and flash custom rom with stock sdcard,
also, u need to degrade to v10a

o.O,so that means i no need do the custom rom unless i buy new microsd
and the link at 1st post,seeems like so hard to use a custom rom
i think i wait lg release android 2.3 better xD

My advice, don't ever use the stock microSD for any purpose, especially heavy stuff like flashing ROM. You are not even supposed to use that as a storage medium, but do keep the SD card for the original apps.

The awesomeness you will get after flashing a custom ROM outweighs the hardships in doing it

okay,so also means that 1day i no buy new microsd = no need use custom rom unless i buy new microsd
but,once got official android 2.3,i can use the stock microsd upgrade to 2.3 is it ?
because my friends using SE x8 which build in 1.6,he straight update to 2.1 using stock microsd without any problem

Not recommended, the stock memory card given to you is crappy, seriously. You will be better off spending RM45 to get an 8GB class 4 microSD, you'll be free from headache.

Absolutely no. I guess many people think, bigger capacity = download more apps = lag. It doesn't work that way, most of the apps will not autorun when the phone boots, so they don't eat up memory. The major cause of lag is people think that an app or game has been properly closed while it hasn't, it's still running in the background eating up memory resource and battery.

how to sync? i checked my sync is on but there is no contact in my gmail and caller id is not showing

if u dont wan ur fb frens in ur contact list...just go to setting/account & sync/go to ur fb category (click it)/untick 'sync contacts'/done

and

to backup contact for my way is like this --> at ur contact list/menu key/more/import or export/choose export to sd card
to restore contact for my way is like this --> at ur contact list/menu key/more/import or export/choose import from sd card (it will automatic sync with gmail for 1st time restore which means whenever u set ur gmail acc. at any android phone, ur contact will automatically restore to phone's contact list because it already sync with ur gmail)


p/s: sorry for my english...in learning process..but hope u understand..if not...sumone will help u also...hehe

root gives u full access to the phone, some apps can only works if u have root access.
this is ur 1st android, i suggest u dont root 1st after u learn more.

for swype, using ur phone and go to google, search swype beta.
for android keyboard, i dunno...i only use swype..

if i check Data ON... my O1 will suka2 connect to internet and my phone bill will shoot up high. but i need to be able to receive mms. from the 1st page, it is stated that we should turn off 3G and use 2G only.

so, 2G is for sms and mms only and 3G for sms, mms and internet... am I right?

you don't need 2g or 3g for SMS
both 2g and 3g can be use for internet

use juicedefender, then when you lock the phone, it will auto turn off your 3G. just download juicedefender through market, it is a free Android app

Anyone know how to disable data plan but allow MMS? Can't find the answer anywhere. please provide full guide

Not get use to small icon for SMS alert notification, I have missed many SMS, notice only after long time.

Anyway to make the SMS indication like flash, and SMS number more obvious?

u r using void rom or stock?
if u r using void, i suggest creating a folder named 'blink' in your sdcard\void\settings\ folder

otherwise, i suggest using Handcent SMS app as ur SMS app as it has features to periodically remind u of your unread SMS...

Same as yours. I think DIGI MMS all is the same and it is locked ( you can't choose or edit from access point since it is default)

o.O digi user got problem at mms ?
luckily i using maxis,just call them send the wap,mms,gprs setting to me
but my phone got maxis 2g mms and 3g mms
which one should i use ?
currently i using my apn,scare the money taken by maxis
because i have been let them take my rm18 !!!

i've requested the settings from digi as well...but somehow, as calson say, it's locked and i can't select it regardless of how many APN i've created...

i've no idea...haha! i using digi smart plan...i only use 2G when i wan to save battery...

definitely silicone case. we have seller in lyn selling, so u dont have to buy it from ebay.
my experience using leather case are...not so enjoyable, silicone case is better!!
