indon worker quoted 9k to remove old parquet tiles and install new tiles. price include cement etc and not tiles. 748sqft. Kl area, is it reasonable?
*
You buy the tiles or they provide everything. If they do, what tile they are using? Local or China made and how much per square feet? That should be considered too. Tile prices vary a lot.

Per square ft is actually not so bad. But these are indon workers. Mine is more expensive but I have local Chinese uncles doing it as well as my house is unique where all the materials need extra move from basement to the top floor - more effort

If you read from renoeasi blog, 2018 renovation price. They write RM20 per sqft. Crazy.

Btw, if your project located in KL, pm me. I can provide you Indonesian contact no. I think can get cheaper than what you currently quoted.

I am from a hardware business background. IMHO, workmanship should come above everything else. If there’s renovation going on in your neighborhood, just pop in one day and look at the workmanship. There are different methods to lay tiles. Some contractors use spacers, others don’t. Some have Obsessive Compulsive Disorders. Others just want to get the job done, get paid and move on.

You have to ask for his price for laying 2 x 2 tiles compared to 1 x 2 tiles. 1 x 1 tiles actually make your space look smaller.

I found my contractor who was in his 70s. My job last year was his 3rd last before retiring. I was contemplating 2 x 4 tiles before he vetoed my selection saying 2 x 2 is the max size he could work with.

Quality of tiles matter too. Decide on the brand you want. MML, Kimgress and Niro Granite are among the established and better quality ones. Have a look at Feruni Ceramiche too. Then decide whether you want to go ceramic or homogeneous.

Agree with you. Niro and MML are two of the better ones. My current wet kitchen is on Niro and more than 10 years still look new. 2x2 is the best. Any bigger is hard to do and also less functional because it is much harder to make perfectly flat 2x4

I'm planning to remove the old tiles on my concrete table top (about 12 foot run), change new sink and replace with new tiles. What's the current labour rate for such small renovation? Just want to get a high level estimation
