If you compare 1.6 EX and SX, you get a lot more from 1.6 SX despite the 86k pricetag for SX such as the keyless entry, stability controls such as EBD,CBC,BAS and TCS. If not mistaken 1.6 EX only got ABS. 6 disc changer, electric folding mirrors, reverse camera, rear parking assist system, fog lamps, fully auto air cond, bluetooth handsfree, paddle shifters, telescopic steering. thats about all that i can think of. that's 7k extra for all these goodies, not worth it? The reverse camera alone is damn worth the premium over EX models!

Anyone know the latest interest rate for Forte?

SA is telling me the longer years you take the lower interest you got
Eg:

3Yr 3.9%
5Yr 3.7%
7Yr 3.6%
Is that true?

Looks like lower interest rate for longer years is not true
2.73 for 7 years
2.95 for 9 years.
5 years or 3 years should be lower then.

Worry too much of GB, then get manual....

oldman want to add his two-cent worth here plz. my wira 1.5 aeroback GLi WHTxxxx auto is now 10 years old. paint still ori gold..done 200K ++ still good. transmission no problem at all and no major repairs except to do top overhaul. on hiway still hantam 120/130 until the wife kasi cubit baru follow speed limit. with regrets got to let her go in march/april coz the wife fell in love with forte's backside. it's the 2.0 for us lah...so i can 'hantam' bila balik kampung.hehe..

actually if you look at the new EX there are many things inculded, like fog lamp, rear dics break, thus for me the 7k goes to reverse camera, auto fold mirror, bluetooth, paddle shift, and other than those EBD,CBC,BAS and TCS, nothing is too significant to add the 7k, dont u guys think so?
earlier it was without fog lamp, rear disc break etc, therefore was looking at SX, as the few thousand difference would have gone to rear disc break alone, and now, not that driving without EBD,CBC,BAS and TCS means certain death but of course it helps (pls enlighten me on the difference on handling and driving pleasure), i think the difference of 7k for the new SX, IMO, only goes to reverse camera and paddle shift, dont u guys think so? pls correct me if i'm wrong, i think i'm going for SX btw, for those 2 things, but of course although 7k is a big sum for me, WTH, SX IT IS!!!

Will appreciate if someone can let me know EBD,CBC,BAS and TCS impact on driving pleasure, of course i know those are for safety, but with regards to driving, does it make any difference? TQ

I keep seeing ppl asking about the car resale value of Civic 2.0.
The market trend of car depreciation in Malaysia is 10% a year.
But for Jap's car like Civic, they normally depreciate 40% at fifth year while Korean car is depreciated to 60%.
I then compared both price when you sell both Civic 2.0 and Forte 2.0 five years later => You lost more than RM1800 if you chose Civic 2.0.

Car Model Forte 2.0 Civic 2.0
RRP 97800 130980
Upfront 10% down payment 9780 13098
Need to take the loan to settle the balance 88020 117882
Assume 3% interest p.a. and 9 years interest will incur 23765 31828
total car price + 9 years interest ( if settle full payment for 9 years loan ) 121565 162808
monthly repayment ( for 9 years loan ) 1035 1386
At the end of 60 months, you have already paid installment to bank 62103 83172
At the end of 60 months, you still owe the bank 49682 66538
After 60 months, assume Forte's value left is 40% and Civic still can get 60% 39120 78588
total payment ( exclude maintenance cost ) for the car when sell it end of 5th year 82445 84220

you're right that we are paying a premium for the extra "toys" but the most important aspect is the stability programmes (EBD,CBC, BAS, etc). I would say that other than the paddle shifters and bluetooth, the rest doesnt affect driving at all. However, 7k extra may seem a lot to you but if you factor in a loan, the additional amount a month isnt that significant (including insurance). Not to mention that if you try to add these stuff in later on (i'm referring to the toys, not the stability programmes, dont think you can retrofit those), it'll void your warranty. If you can afford the premium 7k, why not? Take the reverse camera as an example, that one is really very useful because forte's boot is quite tall and this car is a C segment car, might be tricky to park it, so with the reverse camera, it can help you a lot. Dont get me wrong, you can still park the car without that, but i think every bit helps.

Another thing you might want to consider is possibly resale value. I believe the SX version fetches better resale value and possibly better chances of selling the car despite the fact that it is more expensive (left to be seen). Sounds like you're planning to buy the SX anyway, dont worry, its worth the price. More worth that some empty car like the toyota "dugong" vios. Even the EX is more worth than the vios J tongue.gif
