QUOTE(heinlein @ Feb 18 2011, 11:18 AM) I have old lens from my dad. I ransack it from the store. A very old one but still in good condition. Those lens have no AF or AF-S lens so I want to know if it work on Nikon D3100 DSLR. If it does, I might buy it non-AF or non AF-S lens will work on D3100 but with manual focusing.

It will work, but you don't have metering nor auto focus. Everything is manual.

I like manual focus and playing around it first before getting serious...

QUOTE(kathlynn @ Feb 18 2011, 10:51 AM) hi! after talkin to some friends, one of them suggested to get tamron 18-270mm instead of the 70-300mm for my D5000. any cons with this? coz the price is thereabout, so am not so sure. pls pls pls advise. many thanks! I won't get a tamron if i were you. photo quality for long range lens such as tamron 18-270mm won't be good. please correct me if i'm wrong. i will prefer 70-300mm VR

If one don't mind carrying more than one lens, then go with the 70300. The 18270 offers great versatility, but not so good iq.

QUOTE(KTCY @ Feb 18 2011, 11:56 AM) Yeah just a few days ago at Funan Singapore with my friends, coz the shop didn't have the stock for the 24-120 my friend was looking so he ask us to try this out which is a bit cheaper but got longer range. And I ask him to let me try the 70-200 2.8 too. The 28-300 at 300mm indoor I have to bump up the ISO to 6400 and there's some vignetting altho the image is quite sharp. However, when I compare it with the 70-200 it's like heaven and earth. But it's okay if you're not too demanding it's a nice lens that offer pretty sharp image but it's a lil too dark sometimes thru the viewfinder especially compare to the 70-200 which is a much faster lens. QUOTE(aldosoesilo @ Feb 18 2011, 12:25 PM) the price tell the different yoo.. Of course Just wanna say it's not that useful in low light, even indoor in a mall I have to use ISO 6400, can't imagine in low light, 25600?
