QUOTE(vearn27 @ Feb 16 2011, 10:25 PM) Can we talk a bit about bag here other than only body and lens? most of the time i use a lowepro passport sling, brand new around RM230, its just enough for body + 1 moderate lens.Since it's Nikon fans thread, we can share what bag we used to keep our beloved DSLR in safe Any recommendation for sling bags within RM100~RM200++ budget? u can put another lens in but outside the padded internal area. |

QUOTE(Worms @ Feb 17 2011, 05:43 AM) Hi, i'm newbie in DSLR camera and plan to buy Nikon D3100. I need some advice before i buy it. My main use on this camera is landscape and portrait picture, hence I plan to buy 2 more lens which are imo, if u want wide stick to your kit lens.1. Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED IF AF-S DX VR Nikkor Zoom Lens 2. Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX Lens Do you think these lens are reasonable choices? Is external flash a necessary to have? if u want long, get the 70-300mm VR instead, price will come up to around the same as both those lenses combined. |

17-55/2.8 on DX, just go get it USED.
can get for around rm3.3k, go SG can find more ppl selling them used. the lens will obviously hold its used price pretty well even after a few yrs, so once u want to sell off to upgrade u wont lose much. 24-70 on DX is still too tight, dont even talk about landscape. try shooting large group shots of ppl or more...difference is not like 1 step back...but as much as 3-4 steps back...and most of the time that is space u dont have. |

QUOTE(gnome @ Feb 18 2011, 05:45 PM) u should go try.ppl say the push pull AF-D is about maybe 20% slower in focusing than the two touch AF-D. but i doubt many can really notice it, also of cos depends what body u put it on. of cos main reason to try it is 2nd hand can get rm1.8k |

QUOTE(celciuz @ Feb 21 2011, 07:02 PM) Really? But it looks ok on my 50mm f/1.8D though. On a telephoto can tell got small difference. Its like finer detail has a slight haze over it. Got someone on dpreview forum who also complain same thing. here - http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat...87&changemode=1 same lens, same filter, same prob his samples all gone already, but i got some of my own. QUOTE(wadever @ Feb 21 2011, 10:05 PM) just read the thread on filters degrading images. i suggest u dont use the hoya hmc on the 70-300vr, im using that same combo...or at least i was...now no more.so how many of you DO NOT use filter? Im using a Hoya HMC UV on my 70300VR. should I switch it with my B+W UV-Haze filter or just go naked? here are the 100% crop samples i shot this evening. i took a few shots with filter, and few without filter of the same spot to make sure its consistent. i guess the differences should be obvious. with filter. w/o filter. QUOTE(FaezFarhan @ Feb 21 2011, 11:56 PM) Guys, are the old fixed aperture telephoto nikkor lens reliable? Like 80-200mm f2.8. Which version is decent enough? Or better get the third party ones? Sharpness, bokeh & etc the starting point for the 80-200 would be the AF-D one ring version, around rm1.8k used.Thinking of selling my 50mm f1.4 & 55-200mm for it. Rarely used the 50mm lens coz it's only sharp when going above f/2 (at least for my eyes). after that i would jump straight to the 80-200 AF-S two touch...about rm4k used, ignoring the 80-200 AF-D two touch which sits in the middle of those two somewhere. QUOTE(KTCY @ Feb 22 2011, 07:00 AM) get 35mm f/2 la sharp at f/2. That's the reason I sold off 50mm 1.4 way back then real men dont need VR 80-200 is sharp but lack of VR |
