Thumbnail in Windows explorer? Needs some plugin and only works for 32bit.

Else you can use ViewNX (Free) or Lightroom or Bridge etc for this purpose too.

Lightroom definitely can view your NEF RAW in thumbnail form. I'm using LR too.

Beginner too? If budget allows, a beginner can even buy a D3x la. Nikon didn't mention that only professionals can use the single digit D3 series. As long you have the budget anything is possible.

another Q, which class does D90 belongs to? I've read on the net, some said beginner and some said mid range...
*
D90 is consumer mid-range. D3100 and D5000 is entry level. You can check those reviews website they have the classifications (although some websites tend to mix up themselves, like some Canon models).

Chek wikipedia also can, you can find at bottom of the page, a table of classifications

For consumer, it's classified as mid-range, but for 'pros', they see if differently.

Hi guys. Does non-AF/AF-S lens work on DSLR. What I mean is the lens for Film SLR - will they work on Digital SLR? Sorry for my noob question.

vr 70-300mm
vr 55-300mm
vr 55-200mm

any suggestion/opinion on this? or alt lens that i shud get? big thanks!

The easiest way to differentiate is to see from the lens, if there is a word 'AF' then it will AF on selected DSLR. Simple eh? laugh.gif Actually you're asking AF-S or AF lenses? For AF-S lenses, it will work on all DSLR automatically.

As for non-AF lenses, they still can work on DSLR, however, you need to play them manually, which includes the shutter speed and aperture (you gotta do guessing). Anyhow, do correct me if I'm wrong though, I got these info from BTS Nikon Centre. icon_rolleyes.gif

I have old lens from my dad. I ransack it from the store. A very old one but still in good condition. Those lens have no AF or AF-S lens so I want to know if it work on Nikon D3100 DSLR. If it does, I might buy it smile.gif
