D3100 new user reporting in...
err...d3100 still didn't have battery grip huh?

Read somewhere showing the email that Phottix grip will be available soon. Nikon doesn't do BG for their entry levels.

U need a BG cuz ur battery drain so fast is it?
*
For the extra grip I guess, D3000/D3100/D5000 grip is small, good to have extra size from the battery grip.

Not everyone buys BG for the extended life. I use grip on my D700 but most of the time only 1 battery at a time. Leceh to detach the grip from body to insert another battery in the body.

Thanks bro.
Wondering would it go even lower the next few months, hoping it would reduce to about 5500, possible?
*
Unlikely, the price of D90 didn't drop further when D7000 came to market anyways. It already dropped before that. Nikon does things differently compared to Canon.

Please correct me as I abit confuse regarding B + W filter sweat.gif
XS-Pro is the slimmest right ?
And Hoya HD also can't beat slimnest of XS-Pro ?
*
Frame wise yes XS-Pro is slimmer than Hoya HD.

pikipiki, I have both HD and XS-Pro on my lens, I don't think it is harder to put the cap on XS-Pro as compared to HD.

Guys, wanna ask is there any software that can allow me to view raw file from D7000 in thumbnail view? currently i need to open one by one to view it sweat.gif

thanks
*
Thumbnail in Windows explorer? Needs some plugin and only works for 32bit.

Else you can use ViewNX (Free) or Lightroom or Bridge etc for this purpose too.

Lightroom definitely can view your NEF RAW in thumbnail form. I'm using LR too.

Beginner too? If budget allows, a beginner can even buy a D3x la. Nikon didn't mention that only professionals can use the single digit D3 series. As long you have the budget anything is possible.

It will work, but you don't have metering nor auto focus. Everything is manual.

All? Lulz when I see this statement.

Drop the idea of getting that 18-270. If you need tele lens, get 70300.

Only possible with those 6/7 blade lens. Those 9 rounded blade lens usually will give nice round bokeh even when step down.

The heptagon bokeh? I think only cheap lens can la laugh.gif . Lemme try finding if I have any shaped bokeh when I stop down my lens first...

85mm f/1.4G step down to f/2.8, no shaped bokeh because of the aperture design. These heptagon usually due to 7 blade aperture design, usually older nikkor lens have this when step down aperture. Newer and higher end nikkor lens all uses 9 rounded blade design. Take the 50mm for example, the D versus the G. 7 blade versus 9 blade.

Ghosting and flares. smile.gif
With the filter on, indeed magically lesser compare to a naked lens. smile.gif

Wah, XS-Pro reduces ghost and flare? -.-... impossible la. The filter not to do that. The moment you introduce another element (the filter) you are actually degrading the image. Only differences between good versus lousy filter is, the good ones degrade lesser compared to the lousy ones.
