For a standard zoom lens on DX, Nikkor 17-55G DX is a very nice lens indeed. Don't bothered about Nano Crystal Coating because a USED one is already damn cheap for it's superior performance. thumbup.gif
It helps me to cover group shots and jalan jalan all the while. I sold it not long after I have the 17-35 f/2.8D. tongue.gif
If you going to stay with DX for quite many years, just grab it. smile.gif

OR if you have more budget, can consider the superior Nikkor 17-35 f/2.8D as well. This is a FX lens so don't have to worry about selling it away when you wanna switch to FX in future. 17mm on FX is REAL WIDE already to me(lets put 14-24 aside for now), 17-35 is a very useful focal length even on FX sweat.gif

Ive been to nami island during winter. Dat time snowy  and the temperature at least -4 degree(celcius) plus the wind make it colder.. IMO, u need to bring extra batteries. During my visit there, my sony cybershot can only last 20-30 pics and the photographer who accompany us (he use dslr, cant remember what model) also change batteries of his dslr  a few time.

I wonder how low temperature affect the mechanism inside the battery.

no, its 55-200 vs 55-300, he seem to have concluded that 55-300 is not far superior to 55-200. of coz he said 70-300 is far superior la, comparin diff league ma!

He said nt much better, not 55-300 same as 55-200, so wat i said 55-300 better not wrong wat sweat.gif
N 55-300 got better VR, longer range, metal mount, its true its better than 55-200, but i didn say better by alot

Hmm... I just thought about this recently and coincidentally it already being discussed here. Says...

If I ditched the kit lens and to go for 35mm f/2D with D7000 body only as my starter pack. I'll be missing out the wide capability. I don't need zoom, but wide yes.

Any recommendation for affordable wide lens other than the kit if I ditched it out? sad.gif

What's your budget? If you shoot outdoor and don't need very wide and low budget, you can consider 2nd hand 18-55mm VR.

I'll be kinda "out" after purchasing the D7000 + 35mm f/2D. Probably look at around RM1K ~ 2K if I'm really desperate for wide. Since the kit package and body only differ RM650, should I just take and keep the kit lens or fund it up for a better wide lens? sad.gif

Anyway, what's the different between D and G lenses? unsure.gif

Well, whether wide enough or not is more towards individual preference. Anyway, there's a standard scaling for ultra wide and wide range. I just couldn't recall the number as the magazine I bought is with my friend now smile.gif
