He means, the distortion are cause by ultra wide angle lens.
ATX116 are good and like any other ultra wide angle.
They have the characteristic to strecth and distort watever at the edge.
(notice the trishaw has been stretch)

and due the distortion.
some or most ultra wide angle lens are not suitable to use with a Cir Polarizer.
Someone ask about it before i guess. manage to found a sample image.
notice the rainbow effect below? (this is only a mild one)

The cracking problem is quite common here in US, i read somewhere a guy had that crack, replaced the ring and after sometime it cracked again. Poor guy..

Yup people wanna see their faces... but it doesn't suit every couple. Every couple has their wants & needs for their wedding pics.

Another thing VR is very helpful is when you are forbidden to use flash photography for jobs like weddings and events. Been there, done that. It happens.

After doing weddings & events a couple of years now, I found out that not all couple's taste are the same...

i rely quite a lot of VR with my 16-85 ... dont know if i will miss it or not ... but i know the IQ of the 17-55 is superb ...

scared after i buy then another 2 more months a 17-55 f/2.8 with VRII & Nano coating comes out i sure will go bonkers ...

If you tell me something like D700 which dropped price since it was introduced I think reasonable... but this 1755 f/2.8 so far not yet drop price before right? A bit risky . The new one probably would be the same price tag.

Not to mention this lens quite old already. The Canon have IS for theirs, Nikon should be coming up with a 4 stop technology VR too.
