QUOTE(VerM @ Mar 22 2011, 09:29 AM)
apparently the router itself is having difficulty recognizing its own public ip address...

since i dont have time to test openvpn (a bit lazy to play around with the settings) i'm just gonna use my existing freebsd (virtual) to test portforwarding

in my case, i simply want to ssh from extenal server to my box... but for some reason i cant use port 22 as public port so i just use 2222...

private port remain 22 (changing to different number requires me to change the sshd listening port)

as mentioned above put your lan ip and make sure the related services is running such as sshd...

google any public portscan tool and test your public ip with port 2222

try ssh from external server
CODE
ssh user@publicIP -p 2222

so to kiwlm, adjust accordingly for your openvpn server

and thanks to dimenxion for this tips
*
Thanks to both VerM and dimenxion, finally got my openvpn up. I thought I tried with blank public ip and filled in public ip, but both doesn't work last week when I tried it. Now it does! And yeah, port 22 can't be forwarded, I think it always goes to the port 22 on the router itself.

Happy now!! Thanks. rclxm9.gif

Guys... I wonder, the UNIFI 5mbps is it

1. Dedicated 5mbps for Download and 5mbps for Upload?
2. Total 5mbps for Download AND Upload?

This is the thing that I want to clarify,
when i ask the UNIFI dudes, they say its dedicated 5mbps for Download and 5mbps Upload.

When I do a speed test says different story...

Guys can you test your UNIFI also.... notworthy.gif

Hmm... means its shared between the 5mbps
so for example,

I'm download at 5mbps
Then... i tried to upload to 2mbps
My download will turn down to 3mbps...

So total still 5mbps...

Is this what you mean?

Nope... the speed is up to 5mbps for upload and up to 5mbps for download

You can check various unifi signatures here that posted their speedtest results

i.e: dimenxion (probably on unifi vip10)

u dont mean every files u download you will be getting 5Mbps arent you? if you download 2 files concurrently, the speed will normally divided based on the speed you getting. like torrent, if you download 2 files, and set 1 of it higher priorty, the download rate will be higher on 1 of it, in total it will be count as 5Mbps

if concurrent downloads yes it should divide by the number of download sessions/threads/files

but for both upload/download simultaneously, from my experience both can reach maximum speed...not sure about others though...

Guys2, can someone enlighten me on this matter. Download speed and upload speed is totally different right? If someone upload the file that I download and the speed im getting is 5mb, is it we are sharing?

If I disable the upload section, would the download section be faster?

There is no way u can disable upload. Upload is when you are sending data and download is when you are receiving a data.
