if I'm not mistaken, it is the power supply problem.

better changed it to slim or take it to fix it...

Just recently my PS3 slim shows ylod symptom. Usually happen when i want to turn the ps3 ON, after few more tries it can run as normal. So far it hasn't automatically shut down while playing games. I'm not sure due to overheat or power supply problem.

how to repair power supply, buy new cables?

actually US law states that, if the device contains lead, it is not safe for children hence, a no no for production.

Being said, what if then one purchased a brand new PS3, he changes the thermal paste to a better one immediately . . . .

no cables is not power supply... u hav to open it out take the power supply and change a new 1... is like computer power supply like tat, but i not sure tat ps3 power supply is exactly like computer power supply anyway send to someone to check it, u can try ask deyamato for more information, coz i juz agak, based on wat i research.. usually still can start, but sometimes will ylod, sometimes might be ylod symptom, sometime it might be power supply prob... if power supply prob still can last...

I have 3 units of PS3 Phat / Fat. Black, White & silver al Ylod and can't fix. Sent to Sony Center Malaysia They said units not from Sony Malaysia so NOT FIX.

yeah tat is very true... mine is from sony japan as well and since it is JAPAN, so they dont accept...

Hi guys. If the ps3 yloded the hard drive can work on other ps3 or not? Or all the save data gone?

the hdd is encrypted to specific ps3... so it can't be used in other ps3 unless that old hdd reformat (for use in new ps3).

Mine is MY set, FFXIII vers some more but warranty expired already.

Should i take it to Sony Service Centre, or try to replace the psu by myself? Service center are far from my home (i live in langkawi).

I would suggest you to send someone to repair. Sometimes is better to spend slightly extra rather doing yourself, because you don't know anything about it, later spoil it then not worth. Btw mine also limited edition YLOD serious case.. Gone...

try to notice theres a warning sign on top right "Overheating please shutdown immediately" , how old is your ps3? did maintain service before?

my ps3 already YLOD, can play blu-ray film only..when play games the ps3 shut down automatically

why dun u send to normal gameshop to repair sir??

yes,theres a error msg when u gaming can see "warning message:Your system has become hot" this is what we so called early sign of ylod . so before got auto shutdown quickly turn off and check your gpu thermal-paste izit hardened dried-cracked.

i got 1 solution just to share everyone what i always do how to clean dust from some vent holes trick and also help to blow away the heat after when u stop playing ps3.

For Slim just unplug the power cable instead of turning off the switch on the Fat one
