QUOTE(raffie092 @ Feb 12 2011, 10:48 PM) yeah?well, tell that to sony....all they care is profit, but no quality.do we have any problems like this with the great ol' psONE?no i think....i have mine for 5 years, played it for 6-7 hours a day(was a kid back then,so play games until there's no tomorrow),and the only thing broke is the disc holder, which broke a little piece, but can still put in the cd,load it,and play it.no need of good ventilation or anything like that, just plug it into the tv and play.and the day that my ps1 died is bcos of the big floods in kedah in 2005,if not bcos of the floods,i bet it would still kick the ps3's ass lifespan wanna compare ps1 tech with ps3 tech...

QUOTE(apetdcm @ Aug 19 2011, 09:26 PM) Dear sifus.my ps3 phat struck by ylod recently, and aldy bought a new 1 (slim).my question is, is there any way to transfer my old files to my new ps3 by taking out my old hdd?my old ps3 100% ylod, cant turn on at all,so i cant transfer my files via usb or lan.pls advice the only way is to revive the ylod console, do data transfer immediately else those files are in old ps3 hdd forever (no way to transfer other than the above solution) if u put old ps3 hdd into the new console, it won't be recognize and asked for reformat.

QUOTE(Joey Christensen @ Aug 26 2011, 01:46 PM) I had to kill that PS3...in a day or two that is. It's not in an air conditioned room. I've switched on the ceiling fan on 2 out of 5 speed of fan. I'm not sure if that helps for cooling purpose. I switched off the LCD TV and the only thing running is my PS3 doing some downloading stuff. I slept at 3am and I was awake at 6am, the PS3 fan is still silent. I woke up at about 7.58am and the machine is still running. The fan didn't kick up its speed, still silently doing the downloading quietly. I'm not sure how it turns out when I reach home later today. I'll report on the fan noise tomorrow. Maybe I'll snap some pictures or maybe a video with my camera. ps3 XMB mode uses less power.. hence you can run it anytime while downloading stuff (heck 48 hrs still fine) more worrying is when running those games demanding CELL and RSX to the max... eg. Uncharted 2 (continuous 5 hrs of game time is not advisable) so its best to take break and cool off the console those symptoms of ylod, if the fan starts kicking and loud when booting up XMB, then its a serious matter.

QUOTE(terryfu @ Dec 5 2011, 08:41 PM) Hi guys. If the ps3 yloded the hard drive can work on other ps3 or not? Or all the save data gone? the hdd is encrypted to specific ps3... so it can't be used in other ps3 unless that old hdd reformat (for use in new ps3).
