My PS3 fat 60GB after serving me since 2007 has rested in peace. I've reballed the PS3 myself about a month ago, and it died on the first day of CNY this week. Reballed it again, it ran fine until I started up Unchartered 3, and died again. Reballed it again, it started fine, but the moment I run any game, it dies again. Reballed again, and this time, cannot start.

I used Artic Silver thermal paste by the way. smile.gif Oh well, it served me well anyway...

Erm...That's a serious allegation that you have in your thought there, mate. I had mine "beep, beep, beep" after I've downloaded patch 2.00 for Gran Turismo 5. I think Polyphony Digital made my fat buddy sick. LOLZ!

The possibility of PS4 to be announced on the forth quarter of 2012 is likely. However, the release of the hardware itself is highly unlikely or near to impossible. Give it a year or two and PS4 would be materialised. That's how I see it.

For my fat buddy, there's no notification about overheating or anything. It beeps three times and automatically shut down by itself. My buddy is pretty sick and he can only play songs, video, light gaming (for gaming that uses the Bluray disc...this depends on luck).

Haha, my fat PS3 never giv any notification, last time it juz shut down and never being able to start back the machine even after 1 day cooldown, then fixed it adi, played for few weeks, problem come again and the machine still can start after it shutdown itself, but it wont last, then few days later, cant start at all... LOL~ this is the 1st time i saw the notification, it still can start, but i bet after few days the machine will juz back to YLOD state and no longer being able to start back...

My PS2 (not the slim version) still working and it's almost 10 years of age. My PS3 (not the slim version) is on dying stage and it's almost 3 years of age. These days, electronics material are getting...Sigh.

Mine (60gb Phat) died after 3 years of service too. It's funny because the console wasn't turned on for about a month or so and just suddenly YLOD.

Like 0300078 said, they die when they want to die.

u can see big difference between the fat and slim ps3.

Fat one.... play Uncharted 2 and GOW3 back then the fan so loud i can hear it even i sit 3 meters away from it.

My slim PS3..... langsung tak ada bunyi.

guess the component and the design in it big different. Now i play marathon GOW1-3 for 1 week no shutdown PS3 also can.

I think PS3 slim design dissipates heat much more efficiently than fat one. All the hot air literally blown up hard at the back panel, that sometimes the back cables can become extremely hot, and if the HDMI connector handle is made of metal, it can really burn your hands!

I can still remember how my fat PS3 sounds like a jet engine when comes to the resource-intensive train level in Uncharted 2!
