Maybe Maemo users should team up & hack Nokia server like Sony's Playstation Network.
Then they'll know that are not that gullible.

hello all N900 owner....
I already use N900 for half a year. but never play2 with the ovimap gps. i have some questions about the ovimap. btw, i already download malaysia's map using ovi suite. and i don't have data plan.
1. can i search location on the ovimap, without connecting to internet connection ?
2. how to save a location ? ( for example i safe a location and want to write "My Home" )
3. so basically, do i need to connect to internet connection ( wifi, gprs, or etc etc) to use ovimap?

sorry for noob questions even already use N900 for long time

you need internet to search location, you still can point the location in the map for routing tho.

i think you cant save location.

not really, the gps can find your location without internet connection by using the built in gps.

Ovi Maps in N900 is a version which does not save map data for offline use. It's shows the map like how you see Google Maps from your comp. Directly loaded through the internet to your device. And I don't think we have Turn-to-turn navigation. Sygic is the best alternative now. smile.gif

It is wiser to get a dataplan for using N900, besides the data rate used when navigating is very tiny, as long as you have download the map data.

One point to remind though....when using GPS, the power draining is terrible, 15 minutes can drain you 10% power already doh.gif

N12 Umay still feels the same as its predecessors.

Not much difference.

Already running at 1Ghz from the eMMC so not much room for improvement.

Ive got this
http://downloads.nitdroid.com/e-yes/N12_UMay.tar.bz2
http://downloads.nitdroid.com/e-yes/nitdro...7_rc3_armel.deb

Im running 0.0.8 Nitdroid on memory card. So first, do I need to uninstall 0.0.8? And is the 2 files above enough for me to upgrade to 0.0.9? Correct me if im wrong, 0.0.9 is Gingerbread right?
