I was kind of interested in the Droid/Milestone 2, but there isn't much improvements in terms of hardware over the Droid/Milestone 1. It's the closest thing to N900 design. Sadly, there isn't much good spec qwerty Android device around; For HTC/Samsung, the high end models doesn't have qwerty.
Can't stand using phones without qwerty keyboard, ESPECIALLY if it's capacitive touch screen, even on a 4" screen. With the N900, I've been online in MSN through N900, chatting with long message for sometime about phones, he was in total shock to know I have been typing all the messages through the N900.
Some people I know that SMS A LOT, I mean A LOT, I warned them about using touch screen devices without qwerty keyboard, they don't believe me or maybe they're too obsessed with the phone/brand, like a Fashion, must have. Ended up suffering typing even simple SMS.
ANYWAY, before LG/Samsung announces the dual-core devices, Motorola already hinted about it even before the Droid 2 as launch; I though the Droid 2 would have dual-core, but sadly no; Let's hope there will be good spec device with nice design + nice qwerty keyboard for Android. Droid/Milestone 3 perhaps?
Absolutely! If only they come up with a better device for Maemo; Even with current specs, it's already so good, but limited by it's hardware; As for the software part, that would need full source code release and those hardcore supporters/team to polish it. Such good and unique OS, being abandon just like that, yet it still survives and got many developers which keeps adding functionality to it. It lives because of those supporters.
Going WP7 is a BIG nono, but what to do, it's the NEW CEO.
Previously, when Maemo is being dropped for MeeGo, there're people who were supporting/requesting/hoping/etc that Nokia to adapt Android. They could add Android into their line of devices and still continues to develop MeeGo. I think that could probably save Nokia like a lot? If they did, they might also drop the idea of Symbian^3 OR take more time to completely rebuild Symbian OS "properly"; Plus, they could've also adopt their Qt into Android.
Now, don't know what the future holds.
