Installation Guide

*USE OPENSSH FOR EASIER COPYING AND INSTALLATION
*USUAL WARNING, INSTALL THIS IF ONLY YOU KNOW HOW TO DO IT. I WILL NOT HELD RESPONSIBLE IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO YOU OR YOUR PHONE

YOU WILL NEED AT LEAST 4GB OF FREE SPACE IN ORDER TO INSTALL NEOPWN

*enable extra-testing and extra-devels to avoid missing packages dependencies..u can always disable it after u are done installing the kernel-power in step 10

Step 1) Install the following packages -


*the above command are typed in single line

(Step 2) Create a directory for the neopwn setup files -


(Step 3) Copy get-it_files.tar.gz from your Pc/Mac to the setup folder by using OPENSSH or MASS STORAGE MODE

transfer directly using Mass Storage mode to the folder home/user/MyDocs/neo

(Step 4) Change to that directory

Use GParted to create and format the ext3 partition (eg: third partition of the microSD mmcblk1p3 - for .neopwn) - You can use manual or GParted method of repartitioning to create these partitions.

*NOTE AT THIS TIME, AFTER REBOOT, THE PHONE OR FILE MANAGER WILL DISPLAY AN ERROR "MEMORY CARD FORMAT UNSUPPORTED". THIS IS NORMAL. PLEASE PROCEED WITH THE STEPS.

(Step 12) Make a directory for MicroSD card to be mounted on to the partition


(Step 13) Mount the partition Microsd card on the /.neopwn directory


(type this if you formatted the card using "mke2fs -t ext3 /dev/mmcblk1p1)

or



(type this if you formatted the card using GParted and created an ext3 partition on partition 3-mmcblk1[p3])

*IMPORTANT - COPY THE FILES w00t.tar.gz FROM YOUR PC/LAPTOP TO THE DEFAULT DIRECTORY OF PHONE (/home/user/MyDocs) BY USING USB CONNECTION -> MASS STORAGE MODE

* THEN



*this will copy the w00t.tar.gz from the MyDocs to .neopwn..which will take quite some time (10-20minutes)

*FROM THIS STEP TO 17, COMMANDS ARE TO BE TYPED IN THE N900 TERMINAL ITSELF.

(Step 16) Change to the /.neopwn Directory


(Step 15) Extract the files


(it'll take at least 45 minutes to 1 hour to extract due to the large file. Make sure the phone is connected to the charger to avoid data corruption while extracting)

(Step 16) synchronize (Run twice just to make sure)


(Step 17) Give permission for neopwn to execute


*When done, do this (i prefer leafpad, but any editor is up to you - leafpad/vim) -

ONLY DO THIS IF YOU USE METHOD 2 IN STEP 11 (using GParted to create partition), if not, you may skip this step and continue to step 18


find and change the line that has "mmcblk1p1" to "mmcblk1pX" where X = neopwn partition, eg: mmcblk1p3 if neopwn is on partition 3. then save.

(step 18) To be able to use packet injection, download the modules script here http://rapidshare.com/files/429066238/injection_modules.rar or megaupload mirror http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XHZ5CTA7 and add the enable/disable packet injection to the desktop by :

a)Enter through ssh and put the files "rmneo.desktop" and "insneo.desktop" (These are the shortcuts) in
/usr/share/applications/hildon/

b)Then put the icons stop.png and go.png in
/usr/share/pixmaps/

c)Finally,put the "rmneomod.sh" and "insneomod.sh" injection script in the folder
/home/user/

d)Disconnect from the SSH

*FROM THIS STEP ONWARDS, COMMANDS ARE TYPED IN THE N900 TERMINAL ITSELF.

(Step 19) Give permission for the script to execute by


*exit the terminal

(Step 20) Add the shortcuts (Green Light, Stop Hand, and NeoPwn) to the desktops (*THIS STEP IS OPTIONAL)

(Step 21) Test if the packets injection is working and if the modules are being loaded correctly

a)tap the "Green Light" icon to turn on packet injection
b)type


to check the loaded modules

b)and now ur card has turned into monitor mode. To be sure, test like this :

(Step 23) After done cracking your target WEP, turn off packet injection to avoid high battery consumption by pressing the "Stop Hand" icon

When you got the drivers and downloaded them on your PC/Mac, just copy the file (wl1251-maemo-0.1.tar.gz) into your N900 using the usb cable in the MyDocs. When done, disconnect the cable.

Now let's install aircrack-ng and the drivers:


* Install customized osso-wlan (optional)
This fixes a bug where WLAN gets stuck, when you are connected to an access point and go out-of-range.

WARNING: Installing the customized osso-wlan will break seamless upgrades to new PR versions.
Most likely you will have to reinstall normal osso-wlan version before you can do OTA upgrades.

You can also skip this step, but keep in mind that the above mentioned bug can occur. If this bug is triggered you have 3 options:
manually unset ssid, unload and reload driver or reboot your phone.



Side note: The packages osso-wlan-dbg and osso-wlan-doc are also included but not needed.

But for those who want more “kick” the following are the method to overclock the NITDroid.This is done using titans kernel & you have to boot to Maemo.

As usual start the godly X-Terminal
1)Type “sudo gainroot”
2)Type “mount /dev/mmcblk1p2 / and”
3)Type “leafpad /and/system/etc/power.conf” – This is assuming you do have leafpad installed
4)This is the tricky part

By default the max/min should be like this :

FYI - These are all the available frequencies that you can specify:

Overclocking using App
Install SetCPU

1)Register for gmail.If you already have it you can skip this step.
2)Open Android Market.Login with your gmail account.
3)Search for "File Manager" app under Applications tab.
4)Click it & the file will be added to the download list(something like fapman)
5)Go to download tab to initiate download.
6)Make sure you save the .apk file in the sd card or N900 emmc(in my case it seems the sd card unmountable so I have to save the file to N900's emmc)
7)Navigate through the File Manager to the .apk file.
8)Tap it & follow the rest instructions.

1.Open the Market app (from the Home screen or app launcher)
2.Leaving the Market app running, return to the Home screen and open the Settings app again
2.Within Settings select Applications → Manage applications → Running (from Tab at top)
4.Scroll to select the Market app → press the Clear Cache button → then press the Force Stop button (Do not press the Clear Data button)
5.Press the back button (to go back to the list of running apps)
6.Scroll to select Google Services Framework → press the Clear Data button → OK (to confirm) → then press the Force Stop button
7.Return to the Home screen
8.Launch the Market app again, which will give an error "Attention an error has occurred..." → OK button

The opening Market screen should no longer be blank, and many more apps (free & paid) should now be available. (Although apps can be downloaded, a few may still fail to install or run properly).
