pardon me for intruding everyone mood in Nokia event but I wish to express that isn't we choose N900 due to it's open design and function over than it is from NOKIA, I believe everyone here is not a fruit fanatic, and so we shouldn't be a NOKIA fanatic also.
What Nokia choose their path is their decision, we are the end-user and we choose what phone suites to us. Believe me that when I decide to purchase a new phone, I am torn between N900 and Desire Z, but I choose N900 due to it's open concept and functions, not because it is Nokia So, I hope everyone please drop off the mood and cheer up, N900 not quite dead yet, it is still being supported for the time being, and everyone should remember that you can't use the phone for eternity, sooner or later N900 will die like any phone, so is the support. Now...anyone use AMSN before p.s. if I hurt anyone, please accept my apology |

QUOTE(Andy214 @ Feb 14 2011, 08:07 AM) Nah, we're no Nokia Fanatic, but for N900 replacement, we're looking forward for Nokia's so called "replacement" for the so-called "testing" device, which is the N900. So, it's very disappointing that Nokia has abandon us ONCE again. We don't care who, that's why if Intel can come up with MeeGo devices, or someone can further developer/enhance Maemo and make a better device out of it, I believe those Maemo users will be glad to switch to it. The problem is, I don't see any mobile OS out there as good or can replace Maemo as of today. there is a new version release on xmas, but seems not much people interested and didn't see any comment about it, heard MSN changing the video chat protocol causing all other MSN imitator unable to use video chat. I am really interested with MSN video chat cause over 90% people are using it. Nobody want to install skype Used AMSN before long ago, but too laggy that time so didn't use anymore. Never tried Video Chat, just normal chat. p.s. MSN Butterfly video chat is disabled, should be due to new MSN protocol barring it p.p.s I think Intel will step in to produce a handphone sooner or later, just like the rest, everyone want to share a pie in handphone business, I don't think Intel will ignore it This post has been edited by mashimarow: Feb 14 2011, 09:01 AM |

QUOTE(Josh_M @ Feb 16 2011, 01:05 PM) No, I am not jumping, I use the machine follow my requirement, not by brand, if Nokia did release a good W7 phone, or an android phone, or an Meego phone or ever s^3 phone , and it suites my taste, I will buy it, not because Nokia drop Maemo/Meego and I boycott their product |

QUOTE(Andy214 @ Feb 17 2011, 01:53 PM) Yes, it cannot render GIF file. yeah , just found it at the big brother maemo talk If we can open it via browser, then it should be able to render it. Or maybe 3rd party image viewer application. eventhough gif is old fashion, but it is used among all phones for sending animated mms |

set it to always ask is the safest way. it will ask for connection when needed.

QUOTE(solsekuin44 @ Feb 19 2011, 07:57 AM) Nope, I already uninstalled fMMS for quite some time. choosing which mode is just the connection speed to the operator, it got nothing to do with the phone (I notice if you having phone call, the speed will drop down a little), so if you never let it get online (always ask), you won't be charged. However do note that, once you get online to say check a mail, send a MMS, quick check on a webpage, run GPS, it doesn't just do one thing only, if it got the change to online, it will use the line to check everything in background. Let say you just want to check a mail and turn it off in a minute, within that minute, the phone may use the connection to check what program to update, updating weather report, check any RSS you may have, depend on your connection speed (3G,2G whatever) it might use up few megabytes of data within that minute. With the 3g/2g selection applet, there are three options right? DUAL, GSM and 3G. I chose GSM. But let's say if I choose 3G or Dual, can I still be charged for data usage? So confusing Added on February 19, 2011, 8:01 am I always make sure to be connected only to wifi (P1 Wimax at my aunt's house or school's). But when I called Maxis operator, he said that, even though I chose wifi, if let's say it gets disconnected, the phone will automatically switch to 3G, which made me doubt it. Maxis operator really knows or just simply say it to me? Yes, I set it to always ask right from the beginning. if you set to always ask for connection, it won't auto switch to online mode if cannot detect WIFI running (although there is a setting to let it switch to 3G/2G, double check your setting) -------------------- as for my little question |
