Those sifus who has experience purchasing from amazon.de

Could you please share ur expertise as I'm interested in a couple steelbook BDs from them which are universal studios releases

1) AQ & PQ quality the same as US release

2) are they region free

3) noob question : got english audio & subtitle or not  rclxub.gif

TQ no scolding allowed

  • 1) Depends on who is the release company, some is same, some is not, some getting new transfer - example trainspotting. But mostly same transfer.
  • 2) Not all is region free, Germany default is Region B, so need do some work before you purchase any, I all time using following site for region code checking - http://www.bluray-disc.de/ Anyway I found out it at least having quite a lot of region free, not like France, 90% locked.
  • 3) 99% got. Above same site can give you the information you need. Against not like France, 99% only France subtitle, France is a bit...haizz.... nothing to say. You can go here - http://www.dvdfr.com/search/catalogue_br.html for France release title checking, include region, audio and subtitle.

I have recently ordered 4 BDs from Amazon.de. However, one of them is a pre-order and only will be shipped in June 2nd.

Would Amazon charge me on the latest price for the 3 BDs (this mean the price when all BDs are shipped in June) that were not under pre-order or will it honour the price of purchase (price that was listed now)?

I actually request to ship all in one parcel so everything will be shipped in June 2nd
*
I believe all Amazon nor-matter from which country, will only charge base on the lowest price for pre-ordered item and it won't make any changes to any items you purchase don't care it ship now or later.

Guys,

Today both my wife and mom ask me two questions which I am unable to answer and probably you can share your experience to answer them

Question 1 - Of all your BD collection, you have not even watch half of them and yet you are continuing your purchase, shouldn't you watch all first before making the next batch of purchase?

Question 2 - Of those you have watched, how likely are you to re-watch it again and again and they are most likely to be stored in the cabinet to collect dust - so what's the point of buying so many BDs

Well, I am lucky to say that affordability is not an issue but I seriously do not know how to answer those questions. Please help!

haha, a good one,

my wife also asked the same question b4

i told her when man reached mid life stage hmm.gif , man need something to focus on (other than job), so here's my hobby, hometheater & collecting Bluray disc.

i told here either i continue this "HOMELY HOBBY" which i always be at home or I can have another hobby, says collect "women" brows.gif or "night life" drool.gif , so she is very happy that i always stay at home. rclxms.gif

the only "limitation" of buying disc online is she knows all my buying as she always be the 1 to receive all disc when postman arrived, so, me 1 purchase, her 1 shopping. doh.gif

Those blu cinemathek blu-ray packaging is nice! All available on 21-April-2011.

But... Sadly from all the information I can gather, 99.9% is region B locked with only Deutsch subtitle available!
I only found Hass is Region A & B with English subtitle...

Only one! and the only one is BD25 cry.gif

No point getting Region B player for those blu cinemathek collection as 99.9% came with Deutsch subtitle only!

The only which is Region A & B + English subtitle is "Hass".

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just put wishlist for Hass with my others steelbook title in amazon.de for May 2011 purchasing. Haha!

As too many Q in April 2011 for amazon.com & amazon.fr already. tongue.gif

April is the month for amazon.com & fr biggrin.gif

1. Its cheap at de moment so have to strike while de iron is hot.. prices will go up if I dont buy now..

2. I only keep the titles that I would like to watch again [ and again, if given de opportunity ] and I have varied tastes so my collection is commensurate with such whims.. When to watch?? Well tat would be when I retire and hv oodles of time to make my mind to mush.. Oso tell her tat by tat time, U wont be able to see LOTR [ or watever ttl u like ] on d big screen anymore but we ll [sounds better than 'I'] still be able to do so.. O ya for tis argument to take, you ll need to invest in a tua gong display .. preferably a front proj wif a 9ft screen.. keke

hi all, ya, STUDIO CANAL really offer good PIC quality/extra & packing, the $ is always around UK$17/disc, an expensive item in AMZ UK

some sharing ....

i am in finance line, so i always try to minimise the cost, untill recently affected by u guys to pay the premium $ for good packing hmm.gif bad friends....

for AMZ UK, it is always safe to buy in large quantity as long as u keep total below RM500 (UK$95). I hv bought > 100 disc from UK, always 10 disc per pack & my freight is always below UK$1.90.

I noticed u all willing to pay high $ freight cost for single/2 to 3 disc /pack. i agree is safe, but the freight sometimes cost nearly as much as the disc. blush.gif

i was once required by the MALAYSIA CUSTOM to apply for FINAS license on the disc i bought, so i went to the government dept & applied it. really troublesome. rclxub.gif

Anyhow, just sharing.

will post more ZOM"B"IE disc to poison u all. whistling.gif

I got a question, if my total is over RM 500, around RM510 and one of the title around RM60 which be send separate as it is under pre-order,

Which means around RM 450 for 1st shipment, in such case, would it easier get tax by custom? (Let said I use priority courier service)

no problem for that bro, in fact is the best way to cut freight cost. nod.gif

A custom officer told me they will evaluate the $500 per shipment, based on your individual shipment (invoice attched) but included freight cost & based on their ex-rate table. so u need to b careful on the ex-rate, they will always use higher rate. i kena lots of tax b4 the RM500 rules imposed by our ex-misnister BDW (i respect him a lot in giving us freedom in media)

but of course dif state dif custom, event dif forwarding agent dif custom officer. just try our luck smile.gif

i really went to carzy recently in buying disc. really need to slow down. will say no more to AMZ shakehead.gif unkess really cool offer.

sorry bro, i need to higlight to u FREIGHT is included in the RM500 rule, beware of your freight cost!!!
