Maybe you can audit it at Jaben, music is very personal and we might have different point of view.
One thing is, DBA-02 is very sensitive to hissing, you better test it with your music collection before you go for it. It is a very detail IEM indeed.

by the way. i am in discussion with yuheng.
for hosting one gathering in jaben BEFORE CHINESE NEW YEAR.

i will bring my modded lavry there for AB comparison of stock lavry in jaben VS mine.

as well as my symphonica HD650. i will show some matching of portable amp and source, which i personally feel appropriate.

and in respond to ath thread in headjam, i will bring ES7 and ES5 there too. to show a fully run in ES7 sound in comparison with new ES7.

wat else ???
time and date still NOT SURE. i in middle discuss with yuheng.

Wait, are you replying my post? Seems like it. laugh.gif
Yeah, I changed my mine about the DBA-02 when I also read that it is prone to hissing. I'm looking for something a little bright.
Although I do look for a particular sound sig, I actually don't mind at all if its the exact opposite of what I'm looking for, as long as it sounds good. I do look for adequate, articulate and fast bass, but if you throw at me a mid-rich and sparkly ones, I wouldn't mind at all. In fact I can find stuff in my music collection that will suit it. Oh and I don't mind diff POV, as long as you say it's good, they might as well be for me. I'm not THAT critical, I just enjoy music at a quality. Part of the enjoyment of being in this hobby is discovery. You can say I'm not an audio purist, but an audio explorer. tongue.gif I like hearing variety, that's why I'm looking for 2 COMPLETELY different sounds.

I'm actually looking for a contrast of DDM, if that helps. So which represents a BA driver sig the most? Who among them defines what a BA is?

The more colored ones is Alessandro/Grado, or even the Denons.
If you really want to pick among them I will pick 770 pro. 770 we will have no stock.

Yes if you really request. I might even need you to put in deposits. The SRP is really high at 799USD before tax.

Yea, I was gonna recommend FiiO as well. Try the E5 but stay clear if you want to use them to drive full sized cans, I don't think they'll help at all nod.gif

HI, the mod is to done for the line out portion, the internal amp is still usable as we do not do anything on it. Once you connect from the bottom part, you get the modded sound biggrin.gif

I want to ask also.
What IEM can give good bass(i.e punchy but not muddy) at low volumes? I'm getting sick of pumping out volume to get bass. I see Future Sonics can do it but I want to know of other alternatives, reviews on these are rather mixed(some say good bass with only slightly lacking detail, some say muddy and lack soundstage, some say brings out hidden details rclxub.gif ) And preferably under RM1000.

yup it is too bulky and power hungry amp too... lol...
from brief moment of auditioning PPK with DBA-02, i do think that PPK sounded brighter than stepdance. in terms of soundstage, stepdance wins hands down... as for others, i cant recall back but i prefer stepdance than PPK because the way it can drive my CK100 without changing its sound signature too much...

Are the above IEM's in the RM1K range and if they are, is the Sony MDR-EX700SL (I thought they got a good reputation for bass) @RM1,099.00 totally a non-contender?

user posted image

I am just curious not that I can afford a RM1K headphone.

Thanks for any info.

What's the average battery life like for the PPK and Stepdance?

I think the Westone UM2 and Earsonics SM2 cost RM1050 each if I'm not mistaken.

PKK uses internal rechargeable batteries (i think), as for stepdance it uses 9V batts...
i buy the cheap tesco 9V batts and it can power up till 9 hours, and energizer i think can do longer than that....

i stop using regulated power supply because it has the tendency to hiss alot... maybe my house electric flow.... so i bought lots of tesco 9v batts and it sounded much much better than the rechargable 9V ones....

i dont know why lol...

The ones mentioned are dual drivers. The Sony has only a single driver but if I'm not mistaken, is the largest IEM driver in the world. I've tested it once. It does have a fun thumping bass, but mid-high freq tends to be a bit harsh and slightly piercing. It's a new unit out of a package so dunno how it'll perform after burn-in. Reviews all over state that it does improve but the harshness remains.

I thought it was a bit overpriced, since you can get dual-drivers for a cheaper price, and in the case of the DDM, almost half the price.

Added on January 11, 2011, 6:44 pmAiyak, just looked at SM2's included accessories. I'd rather ditch the cleaning tool kit for a bit more tips choices. So that's out. dry.gif

I know the MDR EX1000 not yet released in Malaysia officially. The retail price of the 700SL is RM1099 according to official website but I think can get cheaper from other sources nod.gif

Owh.....then there;s just none other that I can think of. Maybe you can try Earsonics SM3 but I'm guessing you're not going go for another similar product since you've gone through three triple drivers(and one of them is a custom).
So......that just leaves an 8-driver custom in my list. laugh.gif

Ah, thanks for the head's up. biggrin.gif Regardless, I'll definitely be popping by one of these days as my buddy wanna grab himself a DT880. laugh.gif Just not exactly sure when though, hopefully within this month. That would give me a chance to try out the Heaven series and how it fares with the Sennheiser IE8. smile.gif

My ears are set for ES5... but it'll have to wait till may.... sigh curse the lack of funds!!!

if Jaben has some kind of "Ah Long" installment plan for customs i'll do it! lols
*
I had my eyes on the ES5 as well, but bought myself a SM3 and Stepdance instead so I'm flat out broke too.
But seriously, the pair is such a monumental upgrade for me from my UM3X.

Btw, anyone know of a pouch or carrying case suitable for the Stepdance?

Thanks, I took a look at the pelican cases and I might consider those, especially the 1010 model. Although they seem a bit large for the Stepdance.

ae u just gonna use the 1010 to store only ur stepdance?
or with IEMs and source together?
bcoz if just for the stepdance, it'd fit.
but if u plan to store more than the stepdance, i dun think it will fit.
my 1010 can only fit IEMs + Protector + ICs or IEMs + ipod touch + ICs...

I'll have to pay Jaben a visit on Monday =)
If it's not too expensive and if it fits the J3 where the Ipod should be then I'll get one.

Right now I'm using this case to hold my stepdance (lousy pic, I know):
Attached Image

It fits nicely but I need something to keep my source in place as well.

This is for the storage. Seems its more than enough to store all my earphones.
Why dont try hippocase? Its suits the stepdance well but a bit bulky. But im not complaining lol.

you can get pelican cases here, http://www.peli.com.my/ or just get them off ebay...

you can try searching for Pelican i1030.. but not sure if it will fit stepdance+source... i'd say 1020 is big enough for source+stepdance sized amp+custom iems...

Joke aside, I'm interested with how does it feel when you put that on your head, and sounds coming from the headphone itself biggrin.gif

no.. i have been using it for more than 1 year (i bought it april 09).

i have bought 2 crossroad IEMs namely Xbi and bijou 3. they all spoilt (not really spoiled but quality build issues appeared) after 1 year+ usage.

but anyway i like their sound quality.

initially i thought it was low on batt, but when i charge it on pc, no reaction on the gumstick as well. only after reset then can registter on my pc. some helpp? smile.gif thankss

FFFFFFFUUU AUCTION.

Anyways, I have a query.

Can I bring a pair of KSC75s and SR60s for recabling at Jaben? Who will be recabling them and what cables are used? Cause either the contact is loose or there's some thing broken inside. Intermittent sound lost.

Yuki, pcwork will do the recable but he is also very busy in the meantime. It will really take some times (months) before u can get it back.
Yes. Tonight is the auction date.

It's okay, I bought a new pair of modded KSC75s from you guys remember? tongue.gif I'll be using that in the meantime while PCwork can get to work on my OTHER pair of KSC75s and SR60s. Can quote me the price?

I am guessing that might be the firmware problem. If u can't flash it do bring and let us do them.
by the way guys we have an auction today! Don't forget to attend it and bring home a lot of goodies. Details can be found on headjam forum

I have checked it's using the latest firmware. any more things should I take note?

It's a newer version, and supposedly an upgrade over the older one, the Hippo Box. That's why there's a +.

Could you post a link? I can't seem to find any info about it online. I had trouble fitting the Radius DDM TWF11 in my ears due to it's size and shape.

Just visited Jaben today, greeted warmly by walabies' brother. went to fix my VB. He didn't even check for warranty period, A level service.

Wanted to try a lot of things but friend was pushing me to get back, only managed to try eQ7, for like what, 3 minutes. bad luck double flanges are out of stock.

anyway this is twice already I feel akward talking to him, sorry, I'm bad at conversations.

Wow, found Beyerdynamic here! Lucky didn't press confirm at amazon and ebay. The import duty is crazy.

Please quote me these 2 items.
1) Beyerdynamic T5P
2a) Beyerdynamic base station (not A1, the 5.1 version)
or
2.b) Smyth Realiser A8

Thanks.

I calculate backward is about 30% of the purchasing price. About RM 3300 for both headphone and the base station.
Base station amazon not sure location; headphone ebay germany.

This may not be the actual amount because the merchant may put extra in order to make sure it is sufficient. They will refund the remaining if there is.

You can PM me for the price quote too.
Beyerdynamics Jaben is not carrying all products. Right now on your list I see that I only able to quote you T5P.
T5p at Jaben is RM4999

As for DAC, we highly recommend you lavry engineering. We have a lot of lavry fans here...

PM yuheng and me for negotiations.

hehe, I am so happy today. The DDM I've bought from a fella at the headjam forum has arrived! rclxm9.gif

Listening to it right now.....and my fears of the fit has been blown away. It fits quite snuggly. Although it sticks out a bit and I can feel its weight, it doesn't feel insecure, and I can get a seal. I am very glad it turned out nicely.

Also, I've made payments for my Box+.....WEEEE!!! rclxm9.gif

hehe, I am so happy today.

Also, I've made payments for my Box+.....WEEEE!!!  rclxm9.gif

Good to know you got a nice fit with the DDM, it's too bad I couldn't get the same fit.

Yeah, I have pretty big ear bowl/concha so that helped.

Added on January 31, 2011, 7:57 pmHmmm....the reviews are right. It's missing out a bit on the female vocal shrill.
But the best bass I've ever heard, and guitars and pianos and violins and cellos...wow.

You made me sad cry.gif I'm using red for around 5 months already... Well, at least the finishing touch on the red is not as bland as on the black (you kept on seeing a lot of black earphone but not red or those weird colours on high end).

Sound quality wise, you listen. =p Btw, after about 1.5k hour of usage, the mids will rise and the sound production will be more balanced. *and the coherence thingy more or less is fixed* , so just hang on to it.

Worth money spent, that is up to you to decide dearie. tongue.gif

It's a second hand unit. Considering what I paid blegh(i bought from him), it was a steal. I can't wait for the new DDM II to come. biggrin.gif

Hehe, you're right, the black isn't as unique. I just came back from Giant, and every eye that looks at me were towards my ears wearing the DDM. laugh.gif Interesting if I were to wear a red one.
Oh I think I'm not that sensitive towards incoherency. I don't realize any oddities at any frequency.
If blegh didn't sell his off to me, I'd eventually buy a new one from Jaben, and I'd happily pay for that price as well. thumbup.gif

EDIT: Actually, maybe I wasn't aware of what to listen to, I do find something just a tad bit odd, but not really bothering. At some parts, the bass can sometimes sound a bit different than the whole music. Like it's an entirely different entity.
EDIT: Or maybe it's the treble, can sometimes sound a bit muffled when the bass kicks in, but is quite apparent when not much of the low stuff is going on.

Is that incoherency? It's my first time ever taking notice of these things. tongue.gif

I end up using the medium Radius ones. To me they open up the head stage a bit more. The Sony ones does give a better high end though, at least according to my ears. tongue.gif Plus I don't have to push it in as deep to get the seal, and yet still produce that vacuum seal that the Sony also gives.

The Poslaju man was great too. I was unexpectedly late coming home from work today. Coincidentally Poslaju was in the area making deliveries, and the man remembered me so he sent it to me at work rather than t the address. Great service on their part as well. rclxms.gif

The different entity is the incoherency, it tends to stick for quite a while and as a sign that it is not runned in quite enough yet, just run it and it will be fixed by time. Well, it tends to make you feel odd listening to it after using a different set of IEMs... but yeah, over time it will fix by itself, so you don't really have to worry that it is permanent.

The muffled Treble when bass kicks in is another sign that it is not burned that long as well, it will be better after about 700h or 1000h, by then the separation would be a lot better and the muffling of treble by the bass would disappear, *mids are also affected by this, so just keep on using it* - I get the feeling that yours is hardly even been used. laugh.gif

DDM II from what I heard is more drier compared to DDM I, but I can't really say for myself since I haven't auditioned one yet.

P/S: if you're an owner of Crossroad WoodyOne, the development of DDM during run in is very similar, so you can pretty much expect what will happen after 1.5k hour or so of run in.

Actually it has already done more than 500 according to blegh(incl. my usage).

Hmmm, we'll see after a few months of use. hmm.gif

Owh, so that's incoherency ay? biggrin.gif
The cymbals and hi-hats are the most muffled when the bass kicks in. Actually I'm not even sure which one is the one separating itself from the music, is it the highs or is it the lows. Waaa....confused from first time critical listening to multi-drivers! rclxub.gif

Added on February 2, 2011, 6:59 pmOh and one weird thing to note about my Box+.
When plugged in to the Gumstick, whenever I touch the sides of the Gumstick(is it made of metal?), there's like a very apparent electrical tone that can be heard. It doesn't appear when I touch the blue bit of the Gumstick.

Can also be heard faintly when music is playing at 10/31, also only when touching the sides.

Well, both of the drivers need time to match each other's pace aka. the reason why burn-in is needed. This is not much of an issue at all at high end multi driver IEMs like CK10, but for Radius, you need to burn in for quite a while before it gets better and synchronize with one another.

Well, from what I remembered, it is like the high and low are seperated from the mids *like the mids is a seperate entity from the high and low* and you feel like there's this gap in between those two, like the high and low is not coming from the same song.

But, so far mine has already fixed, after a long hour of usage.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not sure about the gumstick though, I haven't touch mine.... for like 3-5 months... especially after I got the Radius. I ended up using Clip+ more since the tonality is more neutral.

I don' think I need the Box+ with the Gumstick anyway, but it sure does give that extra kick when paired with the Fuze+, when I'm in a mood for extra bass kick. brows.gif With Gumstick is good too, very engaging.

But still curious with the tone that can be heard when the Gumstick is touched when paired with the Box+. hmm.gif

EDIT:
Oh wait, it even appears when the Gumstick is turned off. So somehow the internal cicuitry is connected to the metal casing and whenever I touch the sides the tone appears.

Oh and I need to touch both sides of the Gumstick at once for the tone to appear.

Hi.sorry if i post at the wrong thread.

but i would like to ask,I just bought Ue700 and got some prob at the cable. At the jack,if it like, been disturb, touch or anything, then one in a while the right side of the earphone will go quiet.Meaning,no sound coming out.

one forumer told me,

"internal copper wires broken, cut a small length of the cable at the 3.5mm jack and replace it."

can jaben do this?i mean, repair the earphone?

thanks

Does Jaben allow people to just walk-in and audition the earphones/headphones without actually having the intention of buying them? I've been there once to buy eartips and they were all friendly but maybe this behavior is frowned upon lol. I just need to hear a few earphones to gauge what kind of signature I like, so that next time when I read online reviews that say "... sound signature is like the TF10" I know what they are talking about. I will probably make my next IEM/headphones purchase from Jaben, but that's sometime in the future not now. Very happy with my DBA-02 for now. biggrin.gif

Yea can, I've been there quite a few times to audition their products and leave empty handed. But, like many before me I too succumb to the 'poison' provided by Jaben and eventually end up buying something from them tongue.gif

Edit: No, I'm not complaining... if anything, they helped me 'save' money from buying audio stuff that I did not like.

It happened all of a sudden.
I was listening to some music on my laptop and it sounded as great as ever, then off goes the right channel. Just like that.

I can't remember tugging it. But I did let my friends have a go and I let it go off my sight.

I don't think it comes with an IEM. There was a promotion recently where you get a free RE0 with the player.

Does the DDM sound warm? If so then it's not a good match for the 601 coz the player is also warm sounding. My opinion on 601's sound is based on the 602, I've never listened to the 601 before.. only the 602. But according to Head-fi, they sound almost the same and most people can't tell the difference.

Get something else, it does not worth the money.
K530 is something like a prettier K44 lol.

How much is a K530 in Malaysia anyway? It's 75-80 pounds here in UK.

have to agree that antonio that SRH 840 is really a all rounder....balance bass and not too over powering yet offers clear high and mids.....still in the burn in process.....
@KenDiriwan yea he was really patient in explaining and all.....can't decide which to get to tested so many headphones....very helpful guy.

I bought it from blegh. So it was fully burned in when I got it.
There is still a minor problem of incoherency though. They say it should go away at around 1000 hours.

I don't have it now. Right now the IEM is in a brown-paper packaging, 2 layers of bubble wrap, my old Hippo Gumstick foam box, in an airplane, 10 000 metres in the air, over the South China Sea, on its way to Jaben Malaysia for repairs.
See you in a while, DDM. sad.gif

The bass was a bit out of place in some pieces of music. Someone pointed out that that was the incoherency. Sounds great still though. biggrin.gif

I bought from blegh for RM450. Yeah the bass got a bit better, more with the music over time. I listen with it for around 5 hours a day. It's so relaxing.

Hmm... I should have compared T1 and T5P there. Have Jaben tested T1 & T5P under same circumstances? T5P bass is too plain...

Now only PC soundcard can bring the bass out. AVR also cannot. ipod and all other mobile players all cannot. This defeats the purpose of mobility.

right now i have the Custom 1 and C551. but the Custom 1 purchased long time ago and spoiled already. sad.gif
and i had a hard time choosing between C551, S4, and SE777.
because got really different sound signature. it took me a few hours at jaben. tongue.gif

in this case,u really have to listen for urself, according to ur songs preference.
the SE777 is the only BA driver if im not mistaken in this range.
i've tried all of the list u given except CrossRoad Quattro.
IMHO, Hippo VB and A-Jays 3 still a bit bassy for me. VB is warmer than A-Jays from what i've tried.
but VB can adjust the bass level.
the SE777 is the most bright in all of this list.

Klipsch Custom 1 and S4,the signature sound is almost the same. S4 has tighter bass than the Custom 1.
C551 is a bit bassy than those 2 300 range iem, S4 and SE777.
but still u can get the details after burn in.

this is just my point of view. u really have to try for urself at jaben bro. smile.gif

You mean you're listening in a quiet place or you require silence fromt he IEM/headphone?

Well, if you want isolation, the DDM is a bad choice. laugh.gif But vocals and instruments(especially string instruments) sounds marvelous. Also bass, from kick drums and double bass or any bass sounds awesome! drool.gif
Female vocals have a little less excitement though with these.

You want something that's focused in the mids to highs. The DDM is focused on the lows to mids.

I dunno anything with headphones. laugh.gif Never a fan but I may venture into it.

well, low = bass section of the song, low frequency area.
mid = vocal section of the song , medium frequency.
high = high frequency, usually the cymbals playing.

Just a rough idea of what it means.

Add something,
Low is the bass section that's correct,
Mid is the meat of of the whole music, instrumentation, vocals are coming out from here.
High is the treble of music, the details of it.

I went Jaben few month ago. Tested a lot IEM, final decision SE777. I like the smooth and balance of it.

Hi.. i have 1 simple question..
What is the differ between desktop headphone amp and Stereo amp..?

compare K3 and marant amp... K3 is more expensive !!!
*
Hi Stereo amp is designed for speaker. And it have higher output power for speaker. Headphone amp are designed and tuned for headphone and it is totally different products biggrin.gif

does it have the sufficient bass? like those solid bass, not those crazy dispersing bass.
i listen to x-japan alot. so i would consider this as one of the major thing in it.

SE777 got a solid,tight bass. Also C551 and S4. just my opinion. smile.gif

for me it's sufficient but if you want more bass for pop, rock etc try sennheizer, woody and some more is stronger. I would say SE777 is balance. I listen mostly to classical, i don't like heavy bass. Soundstage for this price range i would say good. Overall for price range 300-400 i like se777.

It's the DDM I. AFAIK DDM II isn't out yet.
Oh, the HM601 has a low and high gain switch I think. Supposedly able to drive almost any hard to drive portable headphones.

Any RE0 users around here?
How does it sound. I kinda miss the sound of strong treble after a while with a DDM and PL50. Considering the price that Jaben is offering, thinking of getting it later, rather than a headphone.

Oh, and how does it pair with the HM601? I'm thinking the strong high-end might compensate for the roll off that everyone is talking about associated with Hifiman DAPs.

Even with that little inperfection on the music presentation but it will still sound better than most of all common players that you can see on market.

I want a contrast to the DDM sound.

I can't wait to buy a Hifiman. I may need to wait for my DDM though. Right now, I have absolutely no IEM left. Sold everything but my Gumstick. tongue.gif

Hi! I have the RE0 and HM-601. It's a perfect match. The 601 really makes the RE0 come alive. It mostly solves the RE0's problems (low bass quantity) and the low bass really rumbles. (Ps. this does not mean it has a lot of bass, just that it's much nicer).

It's almost the polar opposite of the DDM and I think you'll be very happy with it. The RE0 is clear, accurate, neutral and transparent. The DDM is musical, full, lush and really enjoyable. =D

My 2 cents. =D

I would like to add something. I think since it is made from the same company hifiman. They are expected to made to match perfectly. They will also tune based on the players spec.

Hmmm.....then comes build quality.
But I guess it should withstand forces of running. I'm a delicate user anyway. Not one to just stuff an IEM in a pocket.

Well, RE0 here I come. brows.gif I may buy both at the same time.

If you're not very hard on it I'm sure it'll be OK. As long as you don't keep snagging them it should give you no issues.
also, it shouldn't be an issue if you wear it over ear (and you'd want to cos it's microphonic as crazy if you don't).

QUOTE(m0rph @ Feb 21 2011, 08:55 PM)

*
Well, it has a completely different sound signature. While the SE777 is very good for it's price range, the RE0 can be considered very good for a much higher price range. The clarity and details is simply amazing and it sounds very clean.
Unfortunately it won't appeal to most people as it's tuned not very bassy (in fact most will consider it bass light) and most people hunting at this price range would prefer a bass-mid tuning.

You should check out the RE0's history. It's now USD 89 I think but it used to sell for USD 169 (or stg like that). Even at 169 it was considered by many to be good value. And that was when it had the crappier cable.

But like I said earlier, it has a sound signature that is not agreed by many people and may not suit you at all! The SE777 has a much more agreeable sound signature and is a great buy at a great price.

Bottom line as many has suggested, test test test! =D

That's what we call good service. I remember my Hippo Pearl had problem too, need to press the jack only the sound will come out. And Jaben immediately replaced me a new one and asked me to send the faulty one to them later. rclxms.gif

My thanks to Yuheng for keeping me updated on the arrival of the Westone 4. I finally did the comparo between the Westone 4 and Shure 535 and decided that the former had a wider soundstage and better separation. They also felt less tiring to listen to. So in the end, to pair with my HM-601...

There is two line of IEM that westone produces. One is the 'westone' series while another is 'UM' series. The westone series design will look like this type.

Ok here are some quick impressions with the Westone 4 after a night of listening to it. Take note I am not a detail and flat response freak. I like my music to be warm and coloured (hence IEMs such as the e-Q7 does not suit me - tried it, didn't like it). I have been using Hippo VBs (middle plate) for the past month and was definitely impressed by the robustness of the bass on the Hippos. However, it did not tackle the higher frequencies as much as I would like. Instruments would get muddled and vocals felt a bit further in the background.

Used the following for my impressions
DAP - Hifiman HM-601
Music - Andrea Bocelli, Alessandro Safina, KPOP, 80s music, Cai Qin, Rihanna, Sting

What I liked about the Westone 4
- good soundstage but needs a higher volume level to bring it out
- imaging and instrument separation
- almost no trouble with the trebles and not too bright
- smooth and balanced vocals

In comparison, I also tried out the Shure 535 for about 10 minutes at Jaben. I did find the 535 to be more aggressive upfront. Initially I actually liked the 535 more but after a few minutes, I did find the Westone to be less taxing to the ears. The 535 had a hint more trouble at separating the instruments and the higher frequencies were a bit too bright for my liking. The soundstage and imaging of the 535 was a bit inferior to the Westones imho. On the other hand, I did like the fit and the build quality of the 535 more.

Fyi, I did not burn in the Westone 4 and though balanced armature IEMs should not need it, wondering if it will change for the better in time.

Only have my 'friend's' PL50 with me ATM(I sold it to him but I still have it with me tongue.gif ).
With the PL50, bass was actually a bit punchier than I expected, and that came without having to crank up the volume or any EQing(which I used to do to get a decent impact out of these). bass was tight, controlled and realistic. Electric guitars sound full, vocals are sweet. Also I can now hear subtle details that was once very hard to hear, like the singer's voice that echoes, backup singers that used to be overshadowed by instruments. It does separate all those sounds and place them really well, which makes detailing a bit easier. They say it has a rolled off high end, and I tend to agree, but not to the point of annoyance or losing in resolution. Overall it was warm and pleasant, definitely no regrets. And I'm not saying this to make myself feel better about it because of the price I paid for it. It really does sound wonderful. cool.gif

And that's it. I got sick of critical listening in just a short while and started enjoying it. laugh.gif rclxm9.gif

Oh, I used it till it ran out of juice to make any sound, but screen was still able to be turned on. That produces a deafening shriek. It wasn't a sudden loudness, it progresses from soft to loud. Freaked me out a bit, kinda like a banshee approaching near my face. laugh.gif Oh and it gets warm when playing music.

QUOTE(lanatir @ Mar 2 2011, 09:37 AM)

Nice nice review... Maybe in later time he could post the full review on the headjam.org

Hi, i have some question to ask. Does jaben sell the silicone ear guide that audeo pfe have? And does it fit the cable of triplefi? because i dowan the cable to break very fast and to get a replacement.

yes we do have.

QUOTE(tunertoobe @ Mar 4 2011, 01:08 AM)

*
Ooo... LoL. That's funny laugh.gif

I just want to testify what a wonderful experience I had to Jaben's store today. It was my first time there, and being a newbie, I was kinda intimidated actually when I went thru the door. All around were hi-fi freaks who were testing big-@$$ cans on their heads. And here I was, coming from someone who does not know how to differentiate between a monkey singing and a cow mooing.

But I was surprised, I told the guy (sorry, I didn't get ur name) my requirements, and they were quick to give me exactly what I needed, even I myself did not even know that is what I want! I tested the Koss Porta Pro and the Senheiser 238 (I think), both which fits my requirement of punchy bass, small and under RM300. He let me have my time to properly go thru the audition, and I finally settled for the Koss.

Thanks for making me feel like a real customer, although I am not a big spender! A++ seller!! ;-)

We only have comply tips now. Wanna try it?

Well actually I'm looking for tips for my DBA-02. The stock single-flange tips are perfect for me- sound is great, fit is impeccable, comfort unmatched, but for one thing... its grip on the nozzle is a bit loose so sometimes when I pull them out the tips get stuck in my ears.

I've actually auditioned the Comply T-100s and TX-100s, and bought the large-sized TX-100s. They sound good too, probably gives a wee bit more texture to the sound, but also reduces the treble slightly and soundstage/imaging pretty significantly. Plus I find that foamies are impractical. They don't last long, lose their springiness in our humid climate, and are a hassle to insert (you have to squeeze them sticky yucky things before inserting).

Which is why I'm looking for the Shure grey soft flex tips since they are not foam, and also because I heard they are great with the DBA-02. Any idea if Jaben might bring them in?

Not Shure olives. Those are foamies and are a notoriously tight fit on the DBA nozzle. There's something else recommended called Shure soft flex (grey) which isn't foam.

I had only listened to the Westone 3 a few weeks ago for a short time. While I liked it, I can't say I liked it enough to buy it (don't remember much about the sibilance control though).

But with the Westone 4, I did try to push the high freqs to see if I would have any issue with sibilance. I must say that I found none. Note however that the DAP I am using may also be a factor.

How much you paid for the Westone 4? I've only tested out the Westone 3 and prefered Shure SE535.

Also wanting to know how much I should be paying for the Shure SE535 since the listed price is around RM1,668?

Went today to try out the DT880 among other things. I have to agree that they do indeed sound very sweet. I actually preferred the DT880 over the DT770. I guess that's the difference between a closed (DT770) and open (DT880) design. The DT880 just sounded more natural to me. I did however find the pair to be a bit on the bright side but I can overlook that nod.gif

Well from what I tested, I felt the bass for the Shure SE535 was present but not overpowering like other models. The Westone was almost similar.
Through my initial online readings on reviews for these 2, my understanding was that the Westone had 1 driver built in for the Lows,Mids and highs wherelse the Shure's was something along the lines of 2 drivers handling the lows more and 1 dedicated to the highs (Do correct me on this should I be wrong). Overall I prefered the sound of the Shure's over the Westone based on the diff genres of music I tested out so maybe its just personal preference. I prefer earphones with good crisp highs and mids with good clarity, the bass is present but true to the music (not amplified/overpowering). I feel like trying out the 3 models I'm comparing namely the Shure SE535 , Westone 3 , and Ultimate Ears Trifi 10 Pro again. Though I've eliminated the Ultimate Ears model due to the fit and the size of the earphone that protrudes. The funny thing is that I initially wanted to get the Shure SE425 and went to try it out but since it was not in stock, ventured into 3 driver tech and fell in love with it. rclxm9.gif

It's listed under coming soon on this Shure website. It's too bad they don't have a release date. http://www.shure.com/americas/news-events/...ating-earphones

Question.
I found a FW update for the HM-601. A bit afraid upgrading it.
Has anyone tried it before? Any problems? My greatest fear is bricking my dear 601. tongue.gif
