Most mobos are set to shutdown automatically at 100C.
Ur proc is actually protected; unless u turn off in BIOS settings.

Yes i'm absolutely sure that 5GHz is not possible on air cooling in non air conded room here eventhough u got a good chip.

My new 2600K requires low vcore but releases heat worse than the previous one.

4.9GHz below 1.4v vcore during load is a good proc.
Just that it seems to produce a lot of heat.

There are two types of chips in general:
1) low vcore, but high temp (hot)
2) high vcore, but low temp (cooler)

Ive noticed these since Bloomfield.

as for VCCIO aka VTT, most of the time u wont need to adjust it at all @ 1.05v. U might need to increase it a lil bit when playing with higher RAM speed & tighten timings etc... Using over 1.2V should only be necessary if u're pushing the proc toward 5GHz +. Like one of my proc @ 5GHz needed at least 1.2v VTT to boot into windows. Using above 1.4v is not recommended at all - u have been warned!

I tried 1.15 V, and my temp seems to increase like 4C to 5C. Now I set back to "Auto" with temp of around 90C.

Added on April 21, 2011, 9:19 pmWhy during full load the voltage will increase?

original review says stock cooler can OC to 4.5ghz, I guess after Win7 SP1 + latest Linpack, its impossible anymore.
