Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) is a 256 bit instruction set extension for processors. AVX is designed to allow for improved performance for applications that are floating point intensive. Support for AVX is a part of SP1 to allow applications to fully utilize the new instruction set and register extensions.
Basically it's all about a new computing power.
Eg. New linpack is coded to make use of AVX.

U will get higher GFlops on HT off coz 4 extra threads hv to run on the same amount of cores.

aiyo, look clearly what owikh said doh.gif , he mean ht off will get higher GFlops

please show us a full info about your setting, use cpuz to show cpu clock speed, ram clock speed etc. hard to judge ,because you only show a linx screenshot.

HT doesn't always bring advantage and in a lot of cases, it gives penalty to performance smile.gif HT is a very old feature by Intel which has been revived recently into their chips again.
