Is it safe to run at 76c for gaming only? not really 24/7
*
for me, its definitely depends on person whether they wan to run at that speed 24/7.. intel safe temp is 71c if not mistaken
60c for me is hot ody.. bt some ppl can cope with it..
and overclock will decrease ur comp's life..
so if u ok with all that then u can stay at that speed..
it actually depends on whether u wan it or not sweat.gif

for me i dun wan my comp to run more than 50c, it makes the room hot..
if u wan it reli 'safe', then u may juz refer to intel safe spec

Intel i5 2600K for RM636...cheap ar? and what mb to pair with this beast?
p/s: i have AMD..and its shitty =.=...

I believe u're talking abt i5 2500k, it is the 2nd fastest CPU just behind 2600k & not expensive at all.

At this point, we’re afraid to say that AMD’s cores, individually, only beat Intel's old Pentium 4 or maybe even a Core 2 circa 2006/2007. But they don’t stand a chance against anything from Nehalem until now.

i got something to ask, why my 2600k cpu temp getting high at low voltage?
i've tried running 4.5Ghz @ 1.35V and get 27-34 celcius at idle
and 4.5Ghz @ 1.25V the temp is 32-40 celcius at idle...
but, most of people said that the low voltage u got will freeze the temp..

i read some tests concluding that (forgot from which site):
more vcore = more heat
also
more frequency = more heat

p/s: 27c idle, so u're in an a/c room?

Ambient/room temp affects core temp as well.
I think the 1.25v ur room is hotter than the 1.35v.
Now switch again 1.35v and let's see how's the temp.
Fact is, the more voltage the hotter. The faster clock, the hotter.

Don't matter too much TBH
Try to stress test and see the temperature difference biggrin.gif

thanks for the correction..yes i meant the 2500k. Is there any major improvement from i5 2500k to i7 2600k? Mainly for gaming.. and O/T a bit..which motherboard supports sandybridge is best bang for buck? I want to do some mild OC...not heavy. Thanks again.

i've try, the result still same.. maybe the setting in the bios make this change?
what is the VRM frequeny and duty control for? i set my VRM frequency to 350 when im using 1.25V and using auto when 1.35v

2500K vs 2600K
2600K has HT and 2MB extra L3 cache
There are several games that take advantage of HT. To name a few, MOH, Civ5, Lost Planet 2, F1, etc..
The extra cache doesnt really give enough boost to ur system.
The extra RM300 for 2600K u would probably go for 2500K + SSD and still get 5GHz thumbup.gif
SSD gives significant performance gain than HT in whole system, considering the most bottleneck part in ur PC is HDD.

yes, could be this reason also, since higher VRM freq will increase temp.
VRM is to regulate the voltage for stability & OC. Higher VRM freq increases OC range; wheres lower VRM resulted in better system stability.

yes always go for Asus board. Better BIOS, better voltage regulator, voltage accuracy, stability, good PCIE placement for SLI huge GCs.
and PRO is the most bang for bucks mobo. Performance+Feature/price.

oh yes..my HDD is rly the main thing bringing my rig down but SSDs are expensive. If get the cheapest 60gb SSD...its still not enough for windows OS itself right?

And could some1 please look through this list and tell me which motherboard is good. I don expect much, just some mild OC on my future i5 (targeting 4Ghz).
http://www.msy.com.au/Parts/PARTS.pdf

price is in Aussie dollar...so expect like 50RM more expensive or more..lol.

60Gb SSD is already enuf to installed OS+some apps

from the link u give,you can give a try to Asrock Z68 Pro3 = AUD135/RM440
or
if u can wait a little bit,go for Asrock Z68 Extreme 4 Gene 3 brows.gif

dang,Asrock really designing a good board+the aggressive price tag that they put....
i.....must.......resist.....

I've just saw an Asus forum recommend to use 350 VRM frequency for OC..

i found it http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1578110

in MY...the price for this board is lower than other board except MSI,on par mybe...u can have all the feature of Asus P8Z8V-Pro(except bluetooth) on Asrock Z68 extreme4 at lower price...
i never try Gigabyte/Msi b4,so i cannot comment much abt it...
also the new Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gene3 has PCI-E 3.0 support and a nice black+gold theme... smile.gif
