I believe u're talking abt i5 2500k, it is the 2nd fastest CPU just behind 2600k & not expensive at all.

thanks for the correction..yes i meant the 2500k. Is there any major improvement from i5 2500k to i7 2600k? Mainly for gaming.. and O/T a bit..which motherboard supports sandybridge is best bang for buck? I want to do some mild OC...not heavy. Thanks again.

2500K vs 2600K
2600K has HT and 2MB extra L3 cache
There are several games that take advantage of HT. To name a few, MOH, Civ5, Lost Planet 2, F1, etc..
The extra cache doesnt really give enough boost to ur system.
The extra RM300 for 2600K u would probably go for 2500K + SSD and still get 5GHz  thumbup.gif
SSD gives significant performance gain than HT in whole system, considering the most bottleneck part in ur PC is HDD.
oh yes..my HDD is rly the main thing bringing my rig down but SSDs are expensive. If get the cheapest 60gb SSD...its still not enough for windows OS itself right?

And could some1 please look through this list and tell me which motherboard is good. I don expect much, just some mild OC on my future i5 (targeting 4Ghz).

price is in Aussie dollar...so expect like 50RM more expensive or more..lol.

60Gb SSD is already enuf to installed OS+some apps

from the link u give,you can give a try to Asrock Z68 Pro3 = AUD135/RM440
or
if u can wait a little bit,go for Asrock Z68 Extreme 4 Gene 3  brows.gif

dang,Asrock really designing a good board+the aggressive price tag that they put....
i.....must.......resist.....

SB is pretty easy to hit 5GHz, almost every chip can do that on any mobo.
For me Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z is the best 1155 mobo in the market. But since it's not listed in ur PDF & no budget stated why not grab the Asus P8Z68 Deluxe. Bang for bucks is still the Pro.

budget below 150AUD... AsRock Z68 Pro3 is the best with this price range? since u say i5 is pretty easy to hit 5ghz with any mb..i don mind getting cheaper board tongue.gif

Do we need 1600Mhz RAM to go with overclocked the 2500k? Or 1333Mhz is just fine? since we only deal with multiplier.
