CPU is running 4.5Ghz @ 1.336v load 1.344v idle.. all others on auto
Ambient temp inside case is 35C (as displayed by fan controller)
Cooler config using air from inside case to blow out through radiator
Planning to use this 24/7

Need advice
Thanks

Try running linX longer and see got any error plus do you really need it overclocked all the time because if you are just surfing the net just use the stock settings much stable and your hardware is not always stress up.You can save in your bios a few clock settings. So you can save a few of your OC settings and stock settings so if you want to use it just load it.Your temp is considered ok if you are using stock cooler or maybe entry level air cooler. But is fun OC'ing but just do it safe.Hehe biggrin.gif

Thanks for the reply

are 20 loops not enough? hmm.gif
stock cooler? shocking.gif im using modded H50, sweat.gif that temp was after i tested linX with AVX (SP1).. before SP1, load temp was like 67ish with 35C ambient inside case..

p/s: yes not bujang anymore, expecting new member in family in couple months icon_rolleyes.gif

Seem like good enough to me as long as no random crash experienced biggrin.gif

is it worth it? a 16C & 0.64++ vcore jump over from 4.0ghz
btw, what does residual means anyway? :noob:
need advice.. thanks notworthy.gif

I have read in some forum and watch a few vid in youtube showing H50/H70 does not perform that great because they say the liquid temp inside need to reach a certain temp before it can release heat with the radiator.Unlike cooper heatpipe cooler that release heat at any temp and cool down faster. My first time running linX I ran for 50mnt because this is my only pc so cannot run long. But I ever ran linX for 8Hour two times...huhu 16hours cry.gif  How boring that time but luckily no last minute error.
*
might be true, but in my experience stock h50 performs similar to megahalem.. furthermore, im using a modded h50, using distilled water with additional 240 rad.. sweat.gif

however im settling down for 4.0ghz.. load temp is around 61C @ 31.6C ambient @ ~108GFlops.. passed 100 loops so far no prob sweat.gif
thanks for ur advice notworthy.gif

UPDATE: been searching the net and found out that linpack with AVX @ 4.5ghz does really produce 80ish temp though.. so i think my proc & h50 are doing okay icon_rolleyes.gif

when come to this questions, its always depends on personal preference.

Performance ? Noise ? and Power Consumption....

Some prefer silent + lower power consumption

Some prefer performance to the max...

For me, I take the middle band by tweaking to the optimum balance between them.  laugh.gif

I dont know whether my proc is normal or not, but the vcore configs are like:
1.344v for 4.5ghz
=additional 0.048v for 300mhz inc
1.296v for 4.2ghz
=additional 0.102 v for 200mhz inc
1.192v for 4.0ghz
=additional 0.194v for 700mhz inc
~0.98v for 3.3ghz

thats why i stopped at 4.0ghz.. 1.344 vcore seems a bit high for 24/7 use..
BTW, my proc can pass 100 loops of linX if i lower the vcore for another 1-2 step but strangely the GFlop drops from 108+ to 79+.. rclxub.gif which value should i go for? can somebody enlighten me?

so can i know how's ur 'luck' is going on ur cpu bro?

saw some people hit 4.8GHz  i5 2500K with 1.42v sweat.gif
*
no luck with mine.. cry.gif
at 1.40 vcore 4.8ghz, it goes BSOD b4 booting into windows..
so i guess that's the highest vcore i would try, no more further as i dont dare to do so.. sweat.gif
now settling with 4.5ghz 1.33vcore, load temp 74c with LinX + SP1 non-A/C room..
running on modded H50 block+pump with 360 rad..

latest OC result by me, i7 2600k @ 5.0Ghz, 1.4V
TEMP result:
Without Prime95, 36c~45c
With Prime95, 65c~76c

Is it safe to run at 76c for gaming only? not really 24/7

i got something to ask, why my 2600k cpu temp getting high at low voltage?
i've tried running 4.5Ghz @ 1.35V and get 27-34 celcius at idle
and 4.5Ghz @ 1.25V the temp is 32-40 celcius at idle...
but, most of people said that the low voltage u got will freeze the temp..
*
i read some tests concluding that (forgot from which site):
more vcore = more heat
also
more frequency = more heat

p/s: 27c idle, so u're in an a/c room?

i'll just choose max available memory after disconnecting from network and closed most tray resident programs..
