Derp.
It took me quite some time to get the guts into installing AND using newer kernels on this machine, all because of ATI's driver problems, and only last night I figured how to tackle this problem. The key is in the installed kernel version's headers, and here is the fix if anyone's interested. Now using 2.6.32-28-generic with a cakewalk after that fix. Haven't really taken a look into the 2.6.35/36 kernels yet (and whether I'd be able to install them along with the headers required for the ATI driver fix), but I'd like to know what kind of benefits do I get from installing them into this machine (apart from some added disk utilities like fdisk). Any clues, gurus? This post has been edited by FlameReaper: Feb 2 2011, 07:35 PM |

@cocooh
Well hate to break it to ya.Personally I think right about now if you're trying out the latest XFCE on Xubuntu (is it that?) then that's not a good base imo.Xubuntu is probably the certifiable slowest XFCE distro around compared to non-Ubuntu based ones.Is that Maverick or Natty you're testing with? |

Now running on Linux 2.6.37-12-generic x86_64
I guess I'm feeling better now with the newer kernels unlike last time. Just... the touchpad's multi-touch support doesn't work like how I was used to before. EDIT: What the... I had to use a three-finger tap instead of a double-finger tap just to emulate a middle click on the touchpad, yet can still scroll using two-finger gestures This post has been edited by FlameReaper: Feb 2 2011, 11:00 PM |
