Those with older rigs like mine and also the curious cats can now give XFCE a shot:-

has anyone already tried firefox4 on linux platform? please give some review.. huhuhu

Tried here on my #! and 2 other Win XP + 7 PCs.Marginally better;page load, page "breaks", Flash and plugins than on Win I'd say but are you referring to beta or nightlies?Ran nightly on those Win rigs.4b9 on Linux rig.But I also found that stable ver are actually faster in most cases.

@powerwoot
Not much input from me but what I can say is judging from numerous complaints out there at bband u2u thread on the same subject(s), I don't think you're getting your money's worth with TM's flip flopping FUP circus going on tbh seriously.Might as well take that amount and just ramp up a bit for the 2mbps plan?

@cocooh
You're gonna have to post me a tut on how to "patiently" get or find Midori's deps ;p~ Pulled hair strands last 2 nights trying to /.waf make the damn thing on my end.

@all of you gurus
Squeeze's coming on 6th Feb and seems very very tempting.I never tried a straight Debian install before so here's a dilemma.Right now this #! setup points to Sid via smxi script on Liquorix 2.6.36-2.The latest Liquorix 2.6.37 gave me show stopping kernel panic so scratch that atm this setup works flawlessly.Should I do net install or Debian iso hybrid?I prefer a live USB installation.OR should I just stick with this for faster updates?

@G-17
Thanks a bunch for your reply smile.gif Mmmm GRML w/ Fluxbox looks yummy ;o~.Gonna need to ctrl+d some more reading materials then.smxi added some aptosid lines here I think but I didn't touch any up the updates.Gonna have to read up some more as the suggested kernel version were a bit way behind? Yeah I've added Hadret's but I'm not entirely sure how to add that unreleased PPA of his.Nice find.I'm gonna have to prep back that #! openbox .iso on a stick though before I slap that latest XFCE on.

@cocooh
Was referring to the latest ver (0.2.9?) of Midori.I failed at manual install so maybe I'm gonna try this older ver on Statler instead.

@cocooh
Well hate to break it to ya.Personally I think right about now if you're trying out the latest XFCE on Xubuntu (is it that?) then that's not a good base imo.Xubuntu is probably the certifiable slowest XFCE distro around compared to non-Ubuntu based ones.Is that Maverick or Natty you're testing with?

If your computer explodes, it's not my problem.
Nah for that effect I'd recommend Windows ME.Seriously after about 20 minutes at post install, anyone sane will slap a c4 on the rig and call it a day.But jokes aside yeah G's right.Before this when I got on Mint there were some users iirc who'd mixed and matched some Experimental PPAs.Needless to say.Results were....NOT GOOD in terms of long term stability.At the very least you'd be notching up post counts in no time trying to fix stuff.Probably a better idea to play around w/ an extra box but no more.
