audacious tempted to crash often on my side sweat.gif

If you're using versions lesser than 2.4.0, tendency is that it tends to crash quite often for me as well.

There's a repo for Audacious v2.4.0 and I upgraded my Audacious with it a while back, satisfied so far thumbup.gif

Only that its Last.fm scrobbler has a bug: it still sends songs that does not contain any metadata (at least the artist name and track title) to my Last.fm. So the result is I got so many (null) by (null) in my Last.fm list sweat.gif

Hmm , anyone has a decent app for Facebook n Twitter other than Tweetdeck O.O??

Gwibber.

But if you can survive with just a Twitter app, it'd be Hotot. Choqok, if you use KDE, works too.

any ppa for audacious that is on current version, 2.4.2?
currently "official" up to 2.4.0

Official is up to 2.4.2 eh? Hmm, mine is currently v2.4.0, can't remember from which PPA I got it but AFAIK there is no up-to-date/"bleeding edge" PPAs for it...

Derp.

It took me quite some time to get the guts into installing AND using newer kernels on this machine, all because of ATI's driver problems, and only last night I figured how to tackle this problem. The key is in the installed kernel version's headers, and here is the fix if anyone's interested.

Now using 2.6.32-28-generic with a cakewalk after that fix.

Haven't really taken a look into the 2.6.35/36 kernels yet (and whether I'd be able to install them along with the headers required for the ATI driver fix), but I'd like to know what kind of benefits do I get from installing them into this machine (apart from some added disk utilities like fdisk). Any clues, gurus?

Now running on Linux 2.6.37-12-generic x86_64

I guess I'm feeling better now with the newer kernels unlike last time. Just... the touchpad's multi-touch support doesn't work like how I was used to before. hmm.gif

EDIT: What the... I had to use a three-finger tap instead of a double-finger tap just to emulate a middle click on the touchpad, yet can still scroll using two-finger gestures sleep.gif;;

Got Firefox 4 Beta 11 running.

I'm just wondering, can't I upgrade my KDE version to 4.6.0 WITHOUT having to upgrade to 10.10? I'm using Ubuntu 10.04.

A reply of "no" would be disappointing, but I'd at least would like to know if I can or not and why.

10.04 is what name already? Loco Lucy or Masturbating Margaret? Anyways, the Kubuntu Backports seems to have versions for both, though I can't verify since I'm not on *buntu. https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ppa/+archive/backports

It's LL. I guess it's not a problem if I'm using MM, but it seems I'm hearing that the KDE devs said you can get KDE SC 4.6.0 only on MM and Natty. sweat.gif

Testing vanilla LXDE + xcompmgr desktop. I guess I need not to question why LXDE is the fastest DE ever. whistling.gif

Actually, on reletively recent hardware (anything from the last 5 - 6 yrs), There's not much difference, speed-wise between XFCE and LXDE (vanilla Xfce, not Xubuntu's metapackage). Even their memory footprint is around the same (maybe Lxde just edges it) Personally, I never really got the whole LXDE craze, especially when standalone Openbox is faster/lighter/modular.

Probably it's just me then. I can do with just Openbox, but for some reason the inner me doesn't like to conform to the fact that "less is more." tongue.gif

2.6.37 RC?

There are already 2.6.37 stable releases, up to 2.6.37-12 as I am using it now. You can give it a try though, but I don't know much regarding what this may help.

... I'm having a hard time figuring out how to use Bluetooth on a phone to make it a broadband modem...

... and so, BlueMan is the man for me. It's not without its hiccups though, but I managed to make it work nicely nevertheless.

Long-time problem solved! thumbup.gif

Ok. Will take note. What's the best way to get the stable releases?

Google whistling.gif

j/k. Here: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-ppa/+archive/ppa

Issue this into your terminal:

CODE
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kernel-ppa/ppa && sudo apt-get update

You might want further reading which kernel version you might want though. I just happened to take the latest and it works well on my laptop thumbup.gif

hi flame, your setting all maxed out for an older laptop... of course you'll get lower fps, try to reduce it and see how it goes. If you get fglrx working I believed it may help some of the 3D performance.

Uh, old?

Well... IT technology might be developing fast, but...

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 1GB

Running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

I haven't managed to run Unigine's benchmark in Windows yet because it needs some ".NET Framework v4xxxxxxblahblahblahshiet" while I'm lacking a good Internet connection to even Google for that, but I'm pretty sure it'll be better by a margin nevertheless.

Probably you thought I'm running my old laptop (which is now a goner sad.gif ) because I said this?

Maybe it's me being too confident in my hardware, but for a spec like that, the frame rates are... I even disabled compositing for this dry.gif

oman.... I have nothing to say if you already used the fglrx driver. It is supposed to performed well in term of 3D as well as fps. What is the return of glxinfo and glxgears?
*
If you're trying to say the lack of performance might be because I'm using the open source driver, then nah. I can feel the difference between running fglrx and the open source drivers.

glxinfo output:

glxgears returned an average of 300 frames though.

Maybe I'll just do the same test with test setups later on Windows when I get to that ".NET Framework" blah blah blah...

Actually, I remember reading somewhere that the Unigen engine is specifically designed for DX11 and some sort of tessalisation. I can't remember exactly what was said but I know that test was designed for Windows systems
*
Well, they have a Linux version of the test. But if from what you say means the tests will mean that they favor Windows systems then...

Now installing the necessary stuff for the test to run on Windows, and I'll be setting up the test the same settings I had on Linux.
