And best feature which still chuckled me, renamed some team/ sites to funny names .. that one you will have read yourself, it wont be much of a problem to know the original team anyway if you are an Arsenal's supporter for a while.

The Emotional Highbury and The Grand Ashburton Grove

Highbury 1913-2006

For the majority of their time in south-east London, Arsenal played at the Manor Ground in Plumstead, a three-year period at the nearby Invicta Ground between 1890 and 1893 excepted. The Manor Ground was initially just a field, but the club installed stands and terracing in time for their first Football League match in September 1893. They played their home games there for the next twenty years (with two exceptions in 189495), until the move to north London in 1913.

Arsenal Stadium, widely referred to as Highbury, was Arsenal's home from September 1913 until May 2006. The original stadium was designed by the renowned football architect Archibald Leitch, and had a design common to many football grounds in the UK at the time, with a single covered stand and three open-air banks of terracing. In the 1930s, the entire stadium was given a massive overhaul, with new Art Deco West and East stands constructed, opening in 1932 and 1936 respectively; in addition, the North Bank terrace had a roof added, which was later bombed during World War II and not restored until 1956.

At its peak, Highbury could hold over 60,000 spectators, and had a capacity of 57,000 until the early 1990s. The Taylor Report and Premier League regulations forced Arsenal to convert Highbury into an all-seater in time for the 199394 season, reducing the capacity to 38,419 seated spectators. This capacity had to be reduced further during Champions League matches to accommodate additional advertising hoardings, so much so that for two seasons (199899 and 199900) Arsenal played Champions League home matches at Wembley, which could house more than 70,000 spectators.

Final moments - the emotions run high in Highbury

Ashburton Grove 2007-present

Expansion of Highbury was restricted because the East Stand had been designated as a Grade II listed building and the other three stands were close to residential properties. These limitations have prevented the club from maximising the revenue that their domestic form could have brought in recent seasons. After considering various options, in 2000 Arsenal proposed building a new 60,000-seater stadium at Ashburton Grove, since renamed the Emirates Stadium, about 500 metres south-west of Highbury. The project was initially delayed by red tape and rising costs, but construction was completed in July 2006, in time for the start of the 200607 season. The stadium is named after its sponsors, the airline company Emirates, with whom the club signed the largest sponsorship deal in English football history, worth approximately 100 million; however some fans refer to the ground as Ashburton Grove, or the Grove, as they do not agree with corporate sponsorship of stadium names. The stadium will be officially known as Emirates Stadium until at least 2012, and the airline will be the club's shirt sponsor until the end of the 201314 season.

Wenger refuses to rise to Evra bait

CODE
Wenger, though, said he had no interest in retaliating.

"He gave you some good stuff to make it all hot before the game," Wenger said during his weekly press conference. "We are guided by the way we want to play football and not by the statements of anybody who plays against us.

[B]"Personally, I believe if you are a big player you always respect your opponent and that is what we try to do."
[/B]
Asked if Evra had been disrespectful, he replied: "I leave that judgment to you. We do not want to go into any unneeded talking before a game like that.

"We want to focus on the way we want to play and ignore any provocation before a game. We are motivated by the desire to win the game and by the quality of the football we want to play."

It won't do Almunia any good for him to stay. If IF Fabianski flaps again (*touch wood*) Szczesny will stand out.

Fun fact : Arshavin has the highest amount of assist this season (8) , only Nani equal to it.

With media's all around Nasri's fine form, i believe Arshavin is the one to watch at OT. Monday the 13th, I'm having good vibes about the team.
Koscielny worries me a little, perhaps he needs a little more time and confident to be the player people will look up to. I thought Djorou - Squalaci was even a better partnership. He's injured huh ?

P/S : Looks like my name is missing from the Arsenal fan base rolleyes.gif

Every player has a role in the team. I seriously think Arshavin been fantastic for us this season despite his lack of goals. Superb link up play with Nasri, Wilshere, Song and Chamakh. He's been running riot in the heart of our opponent which provide us so many chances to the game. He's a big game player, i really think he will be on top of his game.

We should ignore Evra as said by Wenger, why do we care so much of him, lets just concentrate on the game.

Arshavin strikers fear in to opponents team even before the games start. Every team need such a player even he didnt get into the score sheet. Nearly all our goals lately have connection with him.

On form, I think Nasri strikes more fear.

Arshavin, for me probably does not strike fear as you put it. He drifts in and out of the game and looks disinterested at times...

But I tell you what, that's when the opponents should fear him, coz he can do nothing for 89 minutes, but in that 1 minute......... Genius!

walcott should start as super sub.

otherwise he will be mauled by carrick or fetcher like what they did to Arshavin.

remember flecther was put to stop Arshavin last time we met and referee kept saying play on all those fouls created by flecther.

hehe... slowpoke.. that was from yesterday... already history. smile.gif

anyway, I'm against starting RVP alongside chamakh. I think better start arshavin and stick nasri up top on left.

fabianski
-sagna-koci-laci-clichy/eboue
song-rosicky/denilson-jack
nasri-chamakh-arsh

then take arsh out if he's ineffective. put in walcott/rvp.

sorry for slowpoke then.
a 442 will be better against MU.

RVP can play on the left, then jack plays in the centre where song will take denilson's place. denilson will go to the bench. rosicky will take right.

you'll see unison in this midfield formation.

defence is okay i guess due to injuries.

chamakh will play CF and nasri will play CF as well. behind chamakh where he can roam anywhere between the midfield and chamakh.

so you are saying we should play this midfield and attack in a 442 position for the match against MU?

Robin - Alex Song - Jack - Tomas
Samir - Marouane

err...we have been long time didn't deploy 4-4-2 formation... sweat.gif

and i don't think AW will suddenly revert back to 4-4-2, which might lead to the players feel a bit uncomfortable and can't cope with "new" gameplan.. wink.gif

exactly!

u see that it almost got us into trouble against Partizan. the chemistry isn't there to start the game with that formation. better start with our usual formation which is 4-3-3, then revert to 4-1-2-3 or 4-2-3-1.

yea they may look very "biasa" but they are football's angels of CHARITY.

Aimee van Ommen, Bouchra van Persie and Carla Dona Garcia are no ordinary women.

Bouchra, the 27-year-old wife of star striker Robin van Persie, is the founder of the ABC club.

It combines her first initial with those of her best friends Aimee - partner of top defender Thomas Vermaelen - and Carla, midfielder Cesc Fabregas's partner.

The sultry Spanish brunette is as bright as she is beautiful and knows the impact football can have on those less fortunate. The 24-year-old psychology graduate is now working in marketing. Carla and Cesc Fabregas, 23, are childhood sweethearts who met in Barcelona when she was 17 and he was 16.

and some say should at least give Walcott a chance for starting line-up..sweat.gif

Arshavin (which make walcott sit on the bench) and Nasri are the two ppl that DEFINITELY will start against MU, coz both of them are the players that can cope with big game, and their inspiration and magic touch are irreplacable atm, apart from Fabregas..

At least at the moment both of them are irreplacable in their respective position in Arsenal, especially during big game..

okay maybe ur right. after sometime of thinking to myself, maybe 433 works if they pull it back to 451 which is somewhat to 433 but more defensive to protect from opponent scoring early goals meanwhile play more possession on the wide to cross the ball to chamakh or fast ground ball to utilize nasri's form to open up space to break MU's defense and make rooney come back to defense so his attacking talent on the field will not be utilized as much. so there's a balance.

i never doubt our talented midfielders and strikers, that i think probably is the most deadly and effective combination in EPL right now nod.gif

what i really worry is our shanky and moving too forward defensive line...especially Koscielny sweat.gif (luckily got Sagna and Squillaci to cover up atm, but worry their heavy burden can't sustain any longer)

i hope the french nasri silences the french evra. nutmeg and dribble him until he tangles his own feet! he's becoming my new hated man u figure. 2nd only to RvN.

Very similiar to Arsenal last season need fight with Chelsea,ManU then Liverpool in 3 consecutively premier league game.

And i will prefer Spuds to lose though as this will reduce less 1 possible contender user posted image

IMO not even close. Walcott and chamakh at their very best could never touch nasri in his current form. His dribble and close control are just out of the world ATM. Pls pls pls continue on Samir

This. The season(so far) proved that without Nasri, Arsenal will be in a lot of trouble. I do think he is more vital than Fabregas.

But Arsenal are not relied on single player. It is just Nasri is on top of his form and the most stand out player in the field so it seem he is the most important player for Arsenal right now. Arsenal still can create their chance from everywhere, especially by the midfielders and flankers.

exactly as what i going to reply. Thumbs up to you pal thumbup.gif

we are no longer so called "1 man team" like presumed by other club supporter during Henry era (though i never think that is the case back then doh.gif )

Other than goal keeper, the rest of our 10 players can create scoring opportunity, and even score goal himself if given chance whistling.gif

Altho there's alot of hype about Nasri this and that, I have a feeling the man that should be watch out vs MU is Koscielny.

I juz watched the livercastle match here

Andy Caroll Scored a world class goal across 6 liverdefenders. No wonder he had been chosen by capello to be rooney's new partner for england team.

i'm a bit pessimistic about Kos performance. Hope he prove me wrong wink.gif

whereas for Rosicky i always think he is well contribute to the team, whether link up the play, or provide great through pass. Just that he need to gain back his scoring confident a bit nod.gif

Yeah we're not 1 man team , Shava had been doing well too , actually looking dangerous for most of the time . Song , though wasn't consistent , but I'm sure everyone remembered that he displayed an excellent dribble before passing it to Samir for the finish ?

jahat sial Essien

but then again, I should've not been surprised by this. after all, he did try to take out our players, TWICE when we met earlier this season. 1 on Abou, and I cannot recall the other player fall victim to him in that match

No problem with that, if injury to Fabianski is real.

If the lad is top level quality, he'll perform and Man United gets to see Peter Schmeichel in red shirt.
If he bottles it, then he can stfu (and go work hard during training)

Great chance for him to talk the talk, walk the walk.

Dalam ini Hari Sejarah MU & Arsenal :-

Patrice Evra lit the fuse for a potentially explosive clash at Old Trafford tonight by mocking Arsenal for their lack of recent success and branding them nothing more than a "training centre."

Here, we look back at some famous feuds between the two clubs over the past two decades.

OCTOBER 1990

MAN UTD 0 ARSENAL 1

Nigel Winterburn's lunge at Denis Irwin 20 years ago sparked a 21-man brawl, which is widely considered the starting point of the bad blood between the two clubs. The Red Devils lost one point, while George Graham's Gunners -- who won this encounter 1-0 thanks to Anders Limpar's goal -- were docked two, but, nevertheless, went on to win the league title.

NOVEMBER 1997

ARSENAL 3 MAN UTD 2

This encounter was marred by fan violence, with United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel and Arsenal full-back Winterburn struck by coins.

Former Tottenham striker Teddy Sheringham was accused of inciting the home crowd after scoring. His brace cancelled out earlier strikes from Nicolas Anelka and Patrick Vieira, but David Platt's late header won it for the hosts.

SEPTEMBER 2003

MAN UTD 0 ARSENAL 0

Ruud van Nistelrooy blasted a stoppage-time penalty against the bar as 10-man Arsenal clung on for a point at Old Trafford.

Several Arsenal players -- led by Martin Keown and including a clear shove by Lauren -- celebrated directly in Van Nistelrooy's face as he walked away from his failed spot-kick. This was followed by a melee in which Cristiano Ronaldo seemed to square up to the Arsenal players and Kolo Toure seemed to clash with Van Nistelrooy as the tension boiled over. The Gunners had seen skipper Vieira dismissed for a petulant kick at Van Nistelrooy minutes earlier, but the award of the spot-kick for a foul on Diego Forlan saw both sides involved in face-to-face skirmishes, which continued after the final whistle had gone.

OCTOBER 2004

MAN UTD 2 ARSENAL 0

Angry Arsenal stormed out of Old Trafford fuming with referee Mike Riley after Van Nistelrooy and Wayne Rooney combined to shatter their 49-game unbeaten run in what was later dubbed 'the battle of the buffet' after a slice of pizza was allegedly thrown at Alex Ferguson by an Arsenal player.

Ferguson was confronted in the players' tunnel immediately after the game and was forced to change out of his suit into a tracksuit to conduct post-game TV interviews.

FEBRUARY 2005

ARSENAL 2 MAN UTD 4

The rivalry between respective captains Roy Keane and Patrick Vieira boiled over on numerous occasions, notably with an angry altercation in the tunnel before their match at Highbury in February 2005.

Vieira stood accused of trying to intimidate Gary Neville as the teams lined up to walk out on to the pitch. Keane intervened in the dispute and the two captains had to be separated by referee Graham Poll, with the bad blood continuing out on the pitch in a titanic tussle. Keane declared: "Patrick Vieira is 6ft 4in and having a go at Gary Neville. So I said, 'have a go at me'.

"If he wants to intimidate our players and thinks that Gary Neville is an easy target. I'm not having it." Vieira defended himself, insisting: "I didn't threaten anybody. They are big enough players to handle themselves."

Wojciech Szczęsny is on stand by to replace compatriot Łukasz Fabiański at Old Trafford tonight, with the 25-year-old poised to have a late fitness test on a trouble some groin problem.

Arsène Wenger suggested Fabiański would be a doubt for the clash with Manchester United last week, highlighting a groin problem in his press conference after the Partizan Belgrade fixture. However, the firm impression was that he would make it, with the Frenchman remaining hopeful.

The Sun newspaper claims Łukasz has failed to prove his fitness and Wenger will instead hand a baptism of fire to Szczęsny. The claims are backed up by a suggestion Wojciech made on his Twitter page, claiming he is “prepared for Rooney”. The 20-year-old has played three times for Arsenal, all in the Carling Cup, and has three clean sheets.

If Fabiański fails to be involved, it could open the door for rookie stopper James Shea to be on the bench. Manuel Almunia is fit and available for selection but he has expressed his desire to seek a transfer elsewhere and is not being considered as an option. Almunia is thought to have returned to England from Spain this weekend after meeting his agent to discuss a January move.

Should Szczęsny start, it would be his first Premier League appearance for the club.

http://younggunsblog.co.uk/2010/12/szczesn...gainst-man-utd/

So far, no firm confirmation, banyak speculation.

If it is true Szczesny is really starting instead of Fabianksi, I hope he will shine.

If Fabianksi is really injured, then pls rest him.

We need all players to be 100% fit.

QUOTE(JoyLee1055 @ Dec 13 2010, 02:15 PM)

We need all players to be 100% fit.

normal la most commentators or rather England people hate Arsenal because Arsenal is like a french team, Eduardo denied England euro/worldcup(what is it again) and latest Arshavin assisted Russia with world cup bid.

I don't think AW would really drop Fabianski and opt for Szczęsny (yes, I copy-n-paste the name tongue.gif )

It's too risky and not AW's style to gamble a non-experienced GK.

Anyway, it will be a massive match and I am looking forward for it.

Time to sleep. see ya!

y Szczęsny (yes, I copy-n-paste the name tongue.gif too)? like last time Almunia played for us, his poor positon cost us lost 4-2,
i have a bad feeling, if Szczęsny plays, we(he) will concede a blunder...

y? y everytime we hafta play a rookie gk and cost us 3pts? however, even Fabianski plays, i still believe tonight is the about time for Fabianski to ignite the time bomb..
so tonite we will have a concede with blunder.. hope both gk will prove my 6th sense wrong >.<"

Sam Allardyce leaves Blackburn
December 13, 2010

Sam Allardyce has left Blackburn Rovers with immediate effect, along with assistant manager Neil McDonald.

Sam Allardyce stabilised the club when replacing the ill-fated Paul Ince
GettyImagesSam Allardyce stabilised the club when replacing the ill-fated Paul Ince

Allardyce leaves the club, who have just been taken over by Indian chicken company Venky's, in 13th position in the Premier League. Chris Hughton, sacked by Newcastle last week, is among the early favourites to take over.

A statement on the Blackburn website read: ''The Venky's Group, owners of Blackburn Rovers Football Club, has today [Monday] confirmed the departure of manager Sam Allardyce and assistant manager Neil McDonald with immediate effect.

''First team coaching duties will be taken on by Steve Kean [currently 1st team coach] for the immediate future.

''We have taken this decision as part of our wider plans and ambitions for the club. We would like to put on record our thanks to Mr. Allardyce for his contribution to Blackburn Rovers Football Club.''

Allardyce said in a statement: "I am very shocked and disappointed to be leaving Blackburn Rovers. I am extremely proud to have managed this club and I enjoyed a fantastic relationship with the players, my staff and the supporters during my time in charge. I now wish them and the football club every success for the future."

Poultry firm Venky's finalised their purchase of the 99.9% shareholding of the Jack Walker Trust for £43 million (taking into account club debts which will be paid off) a month ago and owners, the Rao family, initially spoke of setting only modest, realistic targets for Rovers.

One bookmaker did reveal a flurry of sizeable bets on Allardyce to be the next top-flight manager to vacate his post and slashed odds from 33/1 to 3/1 on Monday.

Rovers lost 2-1 to ten-man Bolton at the weekend, with Allardyce accusing his players of ''defending like a bunch of old women". However, that defeat still left them five points clear of the bottom three and in no obvious danger.

Richard Bevan, chief executive of the League Managers Association, said: "When new owners take over a club, sadly, the manager's position often hangs by a thread. To Sam's great misfortune this has now happened twice and, on both occasions, it has been extremely difficult to understand the thinking behind the dismissal. It is ironic that one minute Sam can be proposed as the next England manager and the next, he finds himself out of work.

"He is widely acknowledged within the game as one of the most progressive and forward thinking managers, embracing new concepts and technologies to create an environment which leads to success for his club. It will not be long before Sam, with his exceptional management experience, is back in a managerial post."

Blackburn striker Jason Roberts told Sky Sports News: "I just heard it now and couldn't believe it. I don't think anybody saw it coming. I'm shocked and disappointed for the manager.

"Even though we never got on, I would never have wished him to get the sack."

here's what i found. to add to the excitement of our upcoming match brows.gif

QUOTE

Man Utd Greatest XI vs Arsenal Greatest XI

Manchester United Greatest XI

GK: Peter Schmeichel – Signed as a virtual unknown in 1991, his size, prodigious throwing and mammoth kicks immediately marked him down as something very different. As much the first point of attack as last line of defence. After an early roughing up from Wimbledon’s Crazy Gang he quickly toughened up and went on to become United’s greatest ever. “Prone to the odd error” critics may point out, but when he saved as many games as he did during a season, who cares? 9

RB: Roger Byrne – Local lad who was captain and elder statesman of the incomparable Busby Babes. Perhaps not the best technically but more than made up for any deficiency with his reading of the game. An England regular, fatefully he never made it to the 1958 World Cup. 7

CB: Martin Buchan – “The Fonz is cool but Buchan is cooler” ran the Stretford End’s chant, summing up the ice-cool nature of United’s best ever defender. Having just the one FA Cup to show for his time at Old Trafford is a criminal return for a player who was almost as integral to the team in the ‘70s as Robson was in the ‘80s. 8

LB: Denis Irwin – Incredibly underrated player who, after a somewhat inauspicious start after his arrival from Oldham, went on to become the club’s most consistent and decorated player of the 1990s. Also weighed in with more than his fair share of goals. 7

RM: Cristiano Ronaldo – From 2006–2009 he was as dominant a presence in United’s team as any of his predecessors. His goals dragged the side to a hat-trick of titles and successive European Cup finals – he was well worthy of the 2008 Ballon d’Or. Probably the first player on whom United supporters could legitimately bestow the title “best player in the world”. 9

CM: Duncan Edwards – Many young players are hyped up beyond justification, yet anyone wondering whether the recognition Edwards received is truly justified for a player who died when only 21 years old only has to consider the range and knowledge of those within the game who cite him as one of the game’s true greats. 10

CM: Bryan Robson – The rock on which Atkinson’s United was built, his absences to injury were the reason Ron’s team so often failed. The phrase ‘one-man team’ is self-evidently an exaggeration when applied in a team sport, but with Robson it was as close to reality as it could come. 8

CM: Roy Keane – The driving force behind Ferguson’s greatest side, he continually set the tone for the team, whether through his metronomic passing, fearsome tackling, lung-busting effort or never-say-die determination. A winner amongst winners, the rock on which the 1999 Treble was won. 8

LM: George Best – The one, the only. Playing alongside both him and Ronaldo would probably have had Charlton tearing out what little remained of his once-flowing blonde locks but it would’ve been worth it. There’d probably have to be two balls on the pitch, mind. 10

CF: Bobby Charlton – Still holds the record for the most starts and goals of any United player. No ‘rests’ for this stalwart despite countless battles on the bogs that passed for pitches in the 1950s and ‘60s. As two-footed as they come, he could play anywhere in midfield or attack. Officially acknowledged as the continent’s best player in 1966, he’s one of only three Englishmen to win the European and World Cups. 10

CF: Denis Law – Often the overlooked member of United’s Holy Trinity but back in the day was the Stretford End’s favourite, its very own King. And with good reason. Fearless, brave and aggressive, he played as the fans would like to. Scored every sort of goal, from 20-yard headers to acrobatic overhead kicks to six yard tap-ins. Ballon d’Or winner in 1964, he regularly topped the scoring charts before injuries started to take their toll on his slender frame. 10

Manager: Matt Busby – Built the club up from nothing. Twice. To do it the first time was special, to repeat the feat after the pain, devastation and his own near-death at Munich was almost unbelievable. Never compromised on his ideals, be it for attacking football or anything else. 9

Total Score: 105

Arsenal Greatest XI

GK: David Seaman – Forget his leaden footed displays at the tail end of his career. During most of the 1990s, Spunky’s peerless displays between the sticks made him the ultimate big game stopper for the Gunners. 8

RB: Lee Dixon – Feisty, sharp in the tackle and unfussy in his approach, Dixon was just the man you wanted in your back line, especially back in the days when you could boot the opposition winger into the stand without punishment from the ref. 7

CB: Tony Adams – His transition from George Graham’s hard drinking, blue collar lieutenant to Arsene Wenger’s poetry loving free thinking, roving skipper was remarkable. What didn’t change was his undimmed will to win. Fergie admitted he couldn’t wait for him to retire. 9

CB: Martin Keown – This grizzled warrior certainly came good during his second spell at the Gunners. Later combined an indomitable desire for combat with much improved distribution at the back. His clash with Van Nistelrooy in 2003 may not have been pretty, but you’d always want him in your team. 8

LB: Ashley Cole – Whatever Arsenal fans think of “Cashley” these days, it cannot be denied that during his six year first team career, he provided excellent service, with his surging runs down the left. His link play with Pires in the “Invincibles” season was a joy to behold. 8

LM: Liam Brady – Arguably the cleverest play maker of his generation in the 1970s, he would glide past opponents with unerring ease, and hit shots with minimal backlift. A genius. 10

CM: Patrick Vieira – A titan of Arsenal’s midfield for nearly a decade, the Frenchman appeared to relish clashed with United more than anyone, if his “fire and brimstone” clashes with rival skipper Roy Keane both on the pitch and in the tunnel are anything to go by. 9

CM: Cesc Fabregas – There is little that the Spanish diamond can’t do, and in the Premiership, there is no one who can match his artfulness, vision and creativity. 9

RW: Robert Pires – A goal scoring wide player, defences simply had no answer to the Frenchman’s direct running and setting up of chances for the likes of Henry and Bergkamp during the noughties. 8

CF: Ian Wright – Quite simply the most natural goal scorer seen at Highbury since Bastin in the 1930s. Aggressive and self centred on the pitch, the team’s reliance on his goal poaching under GG effectively made it “Ian Wright FC” for several years. 9

CF: Thierry Henry – “We’ve got the best player in the world” chanted Arsenal fans when Henry (more often than not) was on song. The Gunners’ record goal scorer was, on his day, quite simply unplayable. 10

Manager: Arsene Wenger - The boss would be Arsene, given the way he has revolutionised the club and the playing style. However, on a night like tonight, I’d want George Graham in charge. He’d stifle United and go and hit them on the counter. But overall, Wenger’s our man. 9

Total Score: 104

Even without Luke Chadwick, Manchester United take it by the narrowest of margins. One can only assume that deep into “Fergie Time”, somewhere around the 97th minute, Georgie Best has just slipped away from Lee Dixon long enough to fire a cross onto the well styled head of Cristiano Ronaldo. Que pandemonium amongst the fans and a now bare-chested Ronnie waving his shirt above his head. Just like Ryan Giggs, minus the rug.

Unlucky Arsenal fans, but perhaps you’ll get your revenge this evening…

Szczesny starts, Cesc on the bench

Some fun facts:

Wojciech Szczesny has yet to concede a goal in 270 minutes of play with the Arsenal first team.
The last Arsenal 'keeper to make his league debut v Man Utd was Stuart Taylor in 3-1 win at Highbury in Nov 2001.

haha when will these guy learn to just shoot or cross when near the penalty box ? who knows maybe deflection or watever might help .. playing the usual habit again in front of goal , wants to have a clear shot at goal drible2 then lost everything .. only arshavin seems immune to the habit , sparingly shoot , drible , pass and cross even when tightly mark.

Arsenal playing very defensive imo. Even Clichy not allowed to take the throw-ins after half way line doh.gif

The scoreline reflects the game though. Only the second half will determine who wins it not the first. It is still a super wide game with Arsenal bench far superior.

damn... 1 freaking moment caught sleeping and ManU got the goal.

arsenal played like shit.. song-wilshere-rosicky just didn't click. nasri and arshavin too many times need to come deep to collect.

defend? clichy needs to buck up... and koci... argh... dunno la what to say.

woj... shake it off!! you're playing... get done with it..

I don't think Chamakh did anything wrong. In fact he won quite a few headers against a pair of defenders known for their aerial prowess. Bringing on RVP will not help in this case unless he comes in to play alongisde Chamakh.

And can we take off our rose-tinted glasses and make a fair assessment about Nasri? I felt he was our worse player in the first half. Not Chamakh. Not Song.

It's just that our defense doesn't work well against crosses , never been different . Come on, out muscled by Park ??? WTH

Our midfield is under par too , Rosicky ain't orchestrating the play , while Song and Wilshere just doing what they could IMO .

I think the inclusion of Rosicky in the midfield change the game. I don't see Nasri getting much of the ball playing in the flank, would prefer to see Nasri in the middle than Rosicky.

We are playing defensive, Koci again sigh, i think Djorou would be much better bet than him. sad.gif

The problem is Nasri doesn't get too much services from the midfield , how do you expect him to perform ? Most of the time he received ball in a bad situation .

bro

we watching the same game? i thought arshavin did ok. came back to defend and cover clichy quite well.

now, we need Song to step up. too many times Anderson/Fletcher got to the 2nd ball before him. Also, Wilshere needs to cover Nani/Park.

I'm not really sure why some of us are blaming Song and Chamakh. I think they both were pretty decent.

We need to be a lil more ambitious. We are playing the boring old defensive game

We still got chance guys. The players that the team needs to control is Nani and Anderson.Stop them from supplying balls to Rooney and put more pressure on them. They pushed the team right to the penalty box and we cannot tackle their balls. Heading was awful. Clichy and Song misplaced a lot of possesion. I like the team. Very discipline.RVP and TW 14 please come on 60min and pawn them

Song & Wilshere is not clicking well with Rosicky. Despite R7 was playing quite decent, but alot of mis communication.

i think AW moved Song back to DM but his head is not into it just yet.

Agreed that Rosicky aren't creating much, so does nasri. the thing is, whenever these 2 got the ball, there's always a man on them. the way to counter this is to play quick 1-2 and up the pace. however, it's quite hard for us right now since nobody seems to want it.

really... i felt like there's no one that wanna take the game. ManU sit back and waited and they got the goal.

us? sleeping... WAKE UP LA!

oh... i say take out chamakh because he got 1 yellow already. the way it's been played, im not surprise at all if he got another yellow and red. leave him on the next 15 minutes and see how.

but RVP-Chamakh front would be good too... revert to 4-4-1-1.... hmmm....

Yes Szczesny is fine bar the distribution . The thing is we're playing way too defensive till there aren't many who dare to make run for through pass , hence the amount of mispasses .

Apparently the way we're playing doesn't reflect big game players , like what Evra said . We should stop playing like headless chicken and start to dominate the game .

Hahah... I can't help but think that MU players intentionally leave our players alone whenever we got the ball just outside of penalty box... "Leave them be.. they will pass..."... hahah...

Nasri need to step up.. heck.. everybody needs to step up if we wanna win this...

Even a simple corner can't be given.

Unless it's an open play goal, we can stop dreaming. Certainly won't see any decisions that are "kind" to us, that's for sure.

Can be seen from the first half, whenever there is a call for a foul, players crowd the ref. Fletcher kurang ajar like mad, just get waved off. Small protest from our players, yellow straight. LOL.

Our back line were solid I would say and it was only a fluke goal for Park! The penalty awarded was rubbish and luckily Rooney blasted it over the bar! A very frustrating game for me since we lacked creativity and striking force.

I would have thought Wenger wanted the strongest lineup and go on an attacking at Old Trafford. Another sad outcome!

Rush Fabregas again? The bench has no more players? Come on, the front line is already packed with players pushing forward. Imagine Nasri,Arshavin,V.persie,Chamakh,Fabregas all move front and pass around against a team who defends so well.

And once again Fabregas seriously? Risking him for 1 game that may push him further again? And the whole time he was sub in he clearly shown i-am-not-real-fabregas sign.

If u want to win, play smart not desperate. Right before Fabregas and v.persie was in, i thought we will get the 1 goal. Right after they are in, there was basically nothing.

Whatever it is, let's hope now Chelsea don't follow Arsenal steps. rclxub.gif

They upped their game whenever it's big game . Always did , and always do . Ferdinand and Vidic could take whatever attack tossed upon them and still looking comfortable . Although , our defense wasn't that bad also , Clichy did alright there but their players were more determined .

nice game to watch. too much ball cleared by vidic and ferdinand .

clichy played superb well today to stop most of the nani attack .

the cross that make the goal also is already blocked by clichy , but it keep spin. no choice.

btw . today arsenal is totally different from last game (arsenal) vs partizan .

the gk is doing so well. greats save from him against rooney attempt.

There was only one team playing football on that pitch and that wasn't Arsenal. Sorry to say but they fouled more than tackled, lost possession like some boys kicking a ball around the field, and had nearly zero creativity in attacking.
No one steps in for tackles, rather they are contented with silly little fouls so they can regroup in their own half is NOT defending. Tony Adams would have kicked the crap out of Clichy for that horrible defending. Also, he can't cross for shiet. Time to replace him?
Arshavin just looks disinterested, Song was a joke compared to his predecessors Veira and Flamini, the whole attack lacked bite. Save for Nasri, Walcott and Wilshere, there just wasn't any spark in the team compared to the last Invincibles.
I might be moaning and moaning but the sad fact of reality is this team does not have IT to win the league just yet. I hope to eat my own words by May but the winning essence just isn't there.

Man Utd played in their usual style with possession - counter. I am glad that the team played in a discipline manner. Walcott was bad. Song was dreaming. Clichy I don't know. The rest are decent. Good debut for the keeper. The team could have played better but devils got lucky. They wanted to save energy to play Chelsea and we did not took full advantage of the game.

okay... stop all the craps about arsenal going nowhere, playing not well.

I have watched the match for 90 minutes and I enjoyed it. Arsenal has worked towards their best and kept on attacking in the second half, nearly scored some goals.

Arsenal has been playing well tonight and I think they are more composed this time. When playing against the best defence force in the epl you can expect the ball to be cleared out several times in man utd 6 yard box.

If chamakh, walcott and van persie took their chances well we would have overturned the match, nevertheless, Arsenal has shown that they have been more physical and at the same time, didn't fall behind manchester united.

agreed that fabs is rusty but i dont think we could pin this defeat on him. We just got outplayed and out defended.

also, when he came on, Song moved back to DM and we settle down in defense almost immediately. I hope AW take note on this.

Was it a risk to play him? he was declared fit before the game. he didn't start but managed 30+ minutes without complication. So, that's a +ive to me.

why so butthurt la...? Play smart u say... how much smarter can we get? who you gonna sub? we got denilson... bendtner... djourou left. AW rolled the dice and lost. had he not substituted Cesc in, you'd say something else rite? Jack couldn't move after got tackled. U still wants him on the pitch meh?

We did the best with whatever players that we have now... as long as there's no addition to the team, including those on the injured list, I dun think we cud ask for more. The team needs to have a really, really good day to beat any of the top teams, inside the league or outside... congrats to the keeper.. another 9-10 games like that & I think he's gonna be better...

we lacked creativity in middle of field. We looked like solely depending on Nasri as creative player.

Well, altho they got this lucky...I think they played pretty well too. The MU players were all over the field, and one thing I realised is that they used 3 players to box our midget, 2 to tackles and 1 more to standby for receiving lose ball. Our players had no chance whatsoever to dribble around and create spaces. Our possession might be good, but luck is not on our side.

Note: While watching at the mamak, one bloody MU-Sakai-Bangla-fans turn around and asked me are they getting a penalty? (regarding the Clichy's hand ball). I ignored that retard.

QUOTE(darksider @ Dec 14 2010, 06:11 AM)
okay... stop all the craps about arsenal going nowhere, playing not well.

*
darksider, i'm with you. though frustrated, i thought we played a decent game. apart from a few nervy moments, the defense settled down and clamp rooney quiet well. Clichy got caught a few times by nani but didn't really cost us apart from the dodgy penalty.

again, like i said, as soon as song moves back to DM, the defense looked solid. AW, please take note!

QUOTE
We did the best with whatever players that we have now... as long as there's no addition to the team, including those on the injured list, I dun think we cud ask for more. The team needs to have a really, really good day to beat any of the top teams, inside the league or outside... congrats to the keeper.. another 9-10 games like that & I think he's gonna be better..

exactly.

agreed that fabs is rusty but i dont think we could pin this defeat on him.

*
We are not outdefended seriously. Park's goal is pure luck with the goal keeper coming out too early. Else it would be an easy save.
Clichy's got defeated by Nani's tricky feet so it wasn't really the defensive mistake, rather it was clichy inability to stop Nani. Nani was too good in the final third, which is what you expected from a player with 25.5 million pounds.

We were not outplayed either. It was one of the finest performance in this season, against a very strong and composed team. We were disciplined and kept putting pressure.

Another thing is that, Van der Sar wasn't really troubled at all... I mean... apart from that spill that was closed down by Vidic.. I guess he had a pretty easy game... & what does that tell U ?

bro we got whipped defensively by MU. rio-vidic schooled us on aerial defense101. Rafael and evra also very composed against our flankers. Fletcher-anderson-carrick were very disciplined and stood their line quite well.

if anything, i hope AW move Song back to DM. he's so much better there and again, i say this, our defense looked more solid after he moved back to DM.

Clichy on nani? well have to agree that Nani did have his game boots on. Clichy did ok imho.

Park's goal? combination on pure luck and defensive lapse.

That Bangla MU-retard, the last time I saw him is that he kept on whining around the mamak asking "Why not tune to MU match?", while ppl were watching Arsenal vs Fulham, and he had no idea about the frozen pitch.

I agree that we had a decent game, in fact we have much improved compared to 2 or 3 seasons back whenever we faced these big teams. At least this time round, we get to play a bit of football.

But i totally disagree on Clichy's performance. I have noticed that his development has been going downhill these few seasons. Big teams are beginning to exploit the left side of our defence. Whenever they initiate an attack, 7 out of 10 times, they will attack from our left side. Today wasnt the first time, this has been going on for as long as i remember. Seriously Le Boss needs to strengthen the left side of our defence. I really hope this Jan transfer, we can bring in another left back. Gibbs was alright, but his constant injury has robbed him much of his time. If we are not getting any left back, at least put Eboue there. His def against Partizan was really rock solid and i would really like to see it again. Nonetheless, it was just Partizan , it might be different when we are against bigger teams.

A defeat... Bitter?...Yes... Definitely!, every defeat is bitter for any Gooners... But the bright side is, we have very much improved. No longer being outplayed by them like the semi's in CL...So, this defeat, i can swallow it *gulp*... Win our other games, and we will be back in the race, cause we know, MU are still gonna lose some points along the way

Disappointing is all I could say. People are raving about Man Utd's defense. To be honest, an assessment on how good or how bad their defense were is absolutely moot. Simply because we didn't even test how good or how bad their defense was. We were that pathetic going forward. How f*cking static were our players. The movement which we pride ourselves with so often and is the catalyst of how we play was absolutely zero. I don't know if its the players who can't be arsed to run around or was Arsene trying to be too clever altering our usual approach. I'm absolutely disgusted by the performance either way.

However, all is not lost though. Winning the league isn't all about how well you do against the other Big 4 clubs. Its how well you do against the other 16 teams.

Agree bro, our tactic seems to take a big turn whenever we face the big teams. Tameless crosses will be whipped in from the flanks. Seems like crossing is our only tactic in the big matches. It's not like we have 2 Zigic's in front and 2 Evra's as the opponent's centre backs. They are Rio and Vidic for goodness sake! doh.gif

The problem is we just can't move that's the problem. MU makes us look static and it could have been a draw. It would have been nice if Arshavin or Nasri has some Oscar skills like Nani...That's when we'll get some freekicks for RVP to blast it. When was the last time Arsenal score by Freekicks?

Cristiano Ronaldo always score his free kicks. What is his secret? When i see his shot is not has quite lot of curl, but it always dipped in. Maybe his stance before taking the kick not a fashion statement but it play part in his free kick ability. Power + Precision.
