Hi everybody..

currently now at middle east O&G sector almost 4years.BUT not an enggineer just a tech guy.
after read this topic , i 've made my dicission to back to malaysia and would like to join upstream O&G if any chance.
i am really sure with overseas background + > 15years exp O&G it easy to grab any oppurtinity.

For the Fresh Graduate, just grab any position related to your field 1st,, at least 3-4 years exp then come and join us in Middle East.. (extreme heat,multi-nation & races, salary?u can't imagine it.hehehe) thumbup.gif

Hi all,

I just wanted to ask. Is it possible for an IT background to join O&G? For me I have only working experience for 1.5 years. I am quite interested to join this sector but it seem most of you guys are from engineering background.

Hope you can share with me.

Thank you.

I just only graduated with MEng chemical engineering.
I am wondering on the oil&gas industry market. Still havent decide on where to go
some said go for service companies for few years then only join those big 1
and i saw quite a number of recruitment for pipeline engineer....is that good>

*
depend to position & location actually.. the highest currency now is Kuwait Dinar & Oman riyal
i'm currently in Saudi Arabia.

salary range based on experience :
Field tech operation, inst&elect, mech basic salary 9-10k
Panel (dcs) tech 10-11k
supervisor 15-18k
Enggineer 20-25k
Manager 30-35k

All this only basic not including others allowance : housing, transportation, shift , air ticket and etc
for those bring their family along there is another calculation: education, furniture, medical, family air ticket and etc
