so if you're a fresh grad, would u go choose big4 in MY or Med Firm in SG?

I mean which provide better exposure(learning opportunity)?

cuz big4 deal with bigger multinationals.. and altho it might seem nice to work abroad at SG, but it's just a med firm, it might not provide the exposure u'll get by working with big4... no?
*
U not necessary get alot exposure even u work
In big 4
And u work in sg medium firm for 2 years also can switch to big 4 in sg. U might waste a year but if u have 2 years exp in big 4 my, not necessary will get same pos and might down grade also.

When this 2 options have similar outcome, u have to consider how much u can save during this 2 years.
Let's say both side u can save 500 in own currency. U can sve double in sg

how to say..
if u really wish to work in Sg, better go there earlier. need time to adapt the environment. plus, as the above said u might have a downgrade in ur position as well.

there r actually pros and cons of working in big4...depends on how u see it
con: get old faster!!

If you start off in a mid-tier in SG and aim to hop over to big4 later on, pretty much guaranteed they will discount 1 year experience off you, you most likely get downgraded or if you are lucky, retain your position but will be held back from promotion.

On the other hand, if you start off in a big4 in KL, and assuming you stay till at least s1 level and above, higher chances of being able to retain your position, especially if you go back to the same big4 in SG. But of course, there is no fixed rule on this, it all depends on how you negotiate with them during your interview.

In terms of exposure I guess nothing much to talk about at freshie level. But in terms of learning curve and structure, I would think that big4 would be more structured compared to mid-tier.

Which one to choose really depends on what is your priority I reckon.

i'm not too sure how long it takes to get there by bus.
u've to try it urself.

for me, i think it is corporate tax for beginners. u would get a hands-on about the corporate and individual tax computation (at least, it is not as narrow as GES and indirect tax). once u get the experience, then u could switch to other areas.

have u applied for other big4, than Deloitte? or you have already gone for the interview and secure a job there?

Oh. u may try interview at Deloitte and compare the 2.
If u have an intern experience in Deloitte n do well, they might consider u as a permanent staff or easier to go for other big4 in future. Then, u may ask for transfer in future. smile.gif
Well, this is my opinion only.

with commitment and no major screw-ups, 2 years...well, if you are lucky then you might get considered for early promotion in 1 1/2 years too. depends on how good is your appraisal and how much your upper management backs u up in the staff review meeting biggrin.gif

That is pretty much what an intern does... on the bright side, you have some free time to study on your own. Use your company's resources to read up as much as you can and ask your colleagues.. that way you will learn more smile.gif
