QUOTE(mark_0760 @ Jun 25 2011, 04:20 PM) thanks thanatos! Actually, I've been in audit for 6years in another big4 firm (2yrs as audit manager). I just wanna know if the offer they gave me is already reasonable, whether i still have room for negotiation because now I don't have idea on the average salary of an audit manager among big 4 firms in malaysia. Added on June 25, 2011, 4:24 pmyou said "as for managers it's 7k+ (bck then)" i would like to know when was it, like 1-2years ago? The floor for managers in PwC was 7k 2 years ago. Not sure about how other firms are, but I'm guessing within that range.

QUOTE(shirley_andy @ Jun 27 2011, 10:52 AM) may i ask what's the advantage and disadvantage of being in a firm that assigns u to specific industry compared to being in a firm that assigns u to range of different industry? thanks. I think its all personal preference. For me, I prefer a firm with multi industries so that I have the chance to learn everything...then only I can decide on what suit me better. For example, now, I know I hate construction and bank industry. So I'll be changing to a new firm, and I made it clear to my future employer that my interest is in manufacturing and trading company, and that I strictly DO NOT want any construction or banking engagements.

Ya, it depends on ur personal preference. For me, i prefer industry specific so that I can really master in the industry that i was assigned. U know almost everything in the industry. The specialised people are very welcomed by the specific industry. For example, a Bank would prefer the people who specific in the banking industry and really know how the bank works. Another example, if u have an eye problem, u will prefer to visit the eyes specialised doctor instead of those "general clinic", and the specialised doctor is always earn more than those general doctor... This is an exmple given by an instructor during my internship orientation with PwC and i found it quite true also

Hi, any one working at Deloitte? Can share with me the working culture at Communications & PR Department? Is it a systematic working culture or 'casual' working culture? I prefer formal, poised and systematic working culture.

No certainty here, but from hearsay, the PR and communications department of Deloitte does not seem to be the best of the Big 4s. I suppose either PwC / EY has the best in this aspect. That said, it's just rumours, and what do we know about rumours

Well, I do not know any one that working at PwC nor EY and I don't see both of them advertising vacancies so I can only go for Deloitte's. So, no one seems to know the working culture at Deloitte's PR & Communications Department?

So, no one seems to know the working culture at Deloitte's PR & Communications Department? Ironic isn't it, for PR, they aren't very well heard of. (Actually, same goes for the rest of the big 3s. I haven't heard much of the PR/Comm dept in PwC/EY/KPMG either) Maybe that's part of the plan. Though from internal communications in my firm though, PR/Communications dept appear to be a firefighting dept, especially when they get tangled in some financial fraud or saga

Hey! I just sat for my ACCA optional papers and was recently offered a conditional job offer pending on my results by PWC and EY. I'm currently torn between both. I personally prefer consumer product/services line, which I highlighted in my CV and during interviews. If I join PWC, I'll only know which industry line I get into once I start work. But I was interviewed by a manager from CIPS, not sure if that indicated anything. Meanwhile I've been offered a position in EY's REC department. I've been told there's not much difference between the industry line, as only Financial Services is really specialised. Is there anyone who is familiar with EY's REC department? I only have friends in FS/Services so I'm not too sure about REC. If any of you have any input on which place is best to launch my career, I'm more than happy to hear your honest opinion. Thank you.
