Could you explain more? Maybe PM me what it would be like?

I'm more towards IT than accounting/finance.  rclxub.gif

That shit dun last. Once u hit manager ur portfolio suddenly looks ridiculously unmanageable.

haha.. I know every managerial role will have different perspective towards their works and handle different level of job scope. Lets hope that I could survive till the extent, meanwhile will try to learn something else other than audit to equip myself.

Are you a manager already ? Or another leaver from audit thumbup.gif

Stage 1: essay writing. Then debit credit. Then some audit question, something like p7, mainly asking you about, what do u think about the case. What comes into your mind when u read the case. Prepare some standards to be write in the answer.

Stage 2: group assignment and presentation. They will divide u guys into groups and give u a case. Then u discuss with your member about what u guys wanna do based on the question.

Stage 3: group interview. Go in a discussion room with some other candidates. Will ask you to talk something. Then describe a standard that you like. Again, prepare some standard to talk about. Recognition, measurement, sub-sequent measurement and disclosure.

Hope this help and good luck.

What did you leave to do, if you don't mind my asking? And was it in the same industry you were in while in audit?

Hi guys. So I went for an interview at a medium firm and both managers (interviewers) asked me loads of technical question on audit..while my interviews in 2 big4 firms only revolve around general interview questions like they want to know my personality. I got offered by big4 but unsuccessful for the medium firm. Somehow I wonder what make a good auditor though ?

Sometimes audit is just not for the individual, I have frens who are brilliant in their studies and have a good working attitude, but quit after 1-2 months.

So yea, its different for everyone.

For big 4 if you are a fresh grad, the interview rarely revolves around standards and technicality, unless youre gunning for a experienced hire position.

Hi guys. I have just receive an invitation from 1 of the big 4 for group interview next 2 weeks. Problem is i just joined 1 of the medium firm yesterday.

Say if i pass the interview, should i continue staying in the mid firm or just resign and join big4? I am aftaid of offending the firm that i am currently in. As i just join 1 day ago.

If u guys are in situation like this, what will u do? Anyone did this before?

Hi all, i am an acca finalist and have been working for 5 years (3 years audit/0.5 yrs shared service/ and currently in 1.1 years GST). Have been doing some personal clients auditing/tax/accounting on freelance basis as well.

After all these years, i have been thinking of trying for Big4 and sadly i am left with one paper, which i didnt care and still apply for Big4 positions.

(Q1) , currently i have been hearing that EY have loosen up their threshold from "strictly employing graduates only" to "employ some non-grads+experienced staffs" . Is this true?

(Q2) After all these years in this field calling myself as "consultant", i am bored and would like to get a better career path........ i need your advice to further be challenged......

(Q3)Since i have followed advices from ppl saying "start from small firms so u learn alot!!!!" ........ i have done that for 5 years in multiple roles and all i see is that small firms are
-only for the beneficial of the partner/proprietor,
-not much salary and increments (even if the firm has new clients)
-no benefits (not even enuf to pay for 1 acca paper) (FYI i started with MYR1,200 when F papers were MYR 500++)
-although i had time to study for my exams, but is of no use when ur not given study leave appropriately in the name of " being fair to other employees" and in proper timing

SO after all i have learnt, i am exhausted and clueless on how to progress further since i have been in situation like this for the past 5 years.

Seeking for a solution.

Thanks frens.

Appreciate your opinions;

Kumar

i have no idea bout the other 3, but for deloitte, no allowances. medical rm600 per year for clinic, rm300 dental + optic, and bonus is performance based (normally 1 month on normal performance, max is 3 if you're really good in your work).

I see, btw, seems like you are working in Deloitte or know someone working there. I saw on this site a list of benefits and some salaries for several positions in Deloitte. Does it seem accurate to you? http://www.officeparrots.com/#!deloittesalary/cldm

I can confirm 4 months bonus is possible. For both seniors and manager positions. Lol.

Had you try to join some mid tier firm?
I think that mid tier firm can give you better exposure and salary wise than small firm.
Don't limit yourself at small firm for too long.
Do keep trying to aim for big 4 and complete your acca ASAP.

P/S: I just give my opinion based on what I heard from my friends.
I now also aiming to go for bigger firm after 1 year at small firm..
