Quote from Wikipedia, which IMO explains everything,

QUOTE
During late Q2 2010, HTC made the decision to switch the Desire's display to a Sony "Super LCD" panel. Although this was brought on by a severe AMOLED panel supply shortfall, the new display greatly enhances text readability because of its improved effective resolution, one of the few complaints people had with the original Desire model.

Compared to the original AMOLED display, the SLCD display has more accurate color reproduction, far less susceptibility to burn-in, similar peak brightness and optimal viewing angles, but a lower contrast ratio.

The new SLCD display was claimed to have similar or better power efficiency compared with the original AMOLED display; however, this has proved to not always be the case because with AMOLED pixels' ability to completely turn off, black or dark pixels use very little power.[3] However, in situations when the screen is predominantly bright (such as when viewing many web pages), the AMOLED display uses more power.

Blazing fast in what sense? Webbing? Multi-tasking with 2 or/and 3 different apps?

A bit detail please so I can think whether to go back to LeeD or not tongue.gif

Thx

something really weird happens on my desire. I was connect to a wireless router model Dlink DIR-655, connected and surfing all ok. Suddenly after restarting the router (no wireless changes made) the router is not accessible from my phone. cant even see the wireless ssid under wifi settings. Happened 2-3 already with different dlink wireless router. Anyone experience this problem before ?

Interesting. Never happened to me. Tried with Aztech and 2 random China brand (TP-Link and something else), didn't happen.

Could be your router.

Can you try detect with Laptop? or a wireless card on PC? if both can detect then try to soft-reset your phone. If still can't detect your wifi then... :S

hmm.gif You got check for the Wifi SSID name (listing) on your phone?
If still cannot then, gotta ask someone else more pro tongue.gif nod.gif

Hmm can you use Quickwidget Pro with LeeDroid? <-- I kind of liked that as it came with AuraxT and it was probably the most useful thing from flashing to it lol. Maybe need to find Jack Sparro version x.x..

So far I realize only dlink (dir6xx) model. Also another router which brand is not known. Surprisingly even iPhone could not detect the network, but PC can detect.

Bro, i was using LeeDroid 2.3d before and stability is one of the advantages for this ROM. But in term of speed as you claim is blazing fast, is it faster the Oxygen Gingerbread ROM?

I switched to Oxygen GingerBread Rom becoz of it's speed and i can really feel it for example, when you go to setting-application. In LeeDroid, it will take a few sec to load the software icon, same as in Titanium Backup. And also when you turn your screen it will also take 1 to 2 sec to turn. In Oxygen Gingerbread ROM, the application icon in setting application and titanium backup are instantly shown.

Is the latest LeeDroid ROM can go as fast as Gingerbread?

you cant compare Sense base rom with AOSP rom...that is like comparing NA engine with turbo charged engine... tongue.gif
AOSP rom is more basic...thats why it is fast...just give it a try 1st and give your comment... wink.gif

Gosh, i didn't know the new Desire is SLCD...so is mine AMOLED or SLCD?? How to check? I compared with my wife's Omnia 2 AMOLED....the OMNIA 2 seems to have better and more vivid colors...

btw, just tested video recording last night...720p video is pretty useless...jerky frame rates, blurry pictures...phailed....haven't tried DVD quality video recording yet. I think the Omnia 2 is better in camera and videos....sad.gif

XDA has a way to find out, if I remember correctly it has to do with the stock HBOOT your phone comes with.

Another way is you open a black image (if full black better) and view it at different angles (view it sideways, upwards, downwards, upside down pun boleh tongue.gif). If the black looks brighter or darker when you alter the angles, its SLCD. If its the same black, its AMOLED.

A few more question from Desire noobie:

1) Anyone has charge the phone from PC using USB cable? How long does it takes? The cable is just a standard USB cable right? Can buy any 3rd party cable and work? If it's fast enough, i can just charge from my laptop in office...no need to buy another charger.

2) Anyone has tried 3rd party batteries for the Desire? Original very expensive....

btw, just used 46MB of data yesterday....syncing exchange, gmail, stocks, news, facebook etc....smile.gif

ok, thanks for the answer, but anyway, regardless SLCD or AMOLED, it look goods enough for me, not a big issue. Just curious only...
