QUOTE(phantomash @ Jan 8 2011, 11:48 PM) go into the clock application, Thank you! There really seems like a lot of things u can configured for the HTC Desire...really nice!go to the world clock tab (the globe icon), press the menu button and choose "Home settings" key in and choose the location that you want done. Added on January 9, 2011, 12:10 amAnother question... 1) Anyway to go 'Back' without pressing the 'back' physical button? 2) When i go 'back' or 'home'...is the apps close or still running? How to ensure everytime the app is closed? This post has been edited by Matrix: Jan 9 2011, 12:10 AM |

QUOTE(phantomash @ Jan 9 2011, 12:24 AM) there's no way to go back without the physical button, that's why every android phone has that 'back' button most of the times when you exit the app by pressing the back button, the app is closed if you press home, it is only minimized if you want to force close an app, for reasons like the back button does not kill it or its not responding, you can either go to the settings->application->manage application-> running and pick the apps to kill, or just use a task killer app, such as the 'quick system info' app now you're only on stock ROM, the things you can customized is minimal still.. wait till you go to the dark side No lar, won't be doing hacked ROM...this phone for wife...must be as easy as possible... |

QUOTE(Matrix @ Jan 9 2011, 08:18 AM) Thank you. So there is the possibility if i press home, all the apps are still alive. Is that any quick way to check what is running like a task manager or do i need a 3rd party app? I think i sorta found my answer here regarding task ending/killing...No lar, won't be doing hacked ROM...this phone for wife...must be as easy as possible... http://www.seasonsecurity.com/a/how-to-do-...-hd-195056.html Looks like android philosophy is different from a desktop O/S, the Android O/S will kill apps automatically, so this is good i guess. But i still love to have a touch screen back button instead...scared if press too much back button usage will wears it out.... Maybe got such an app?? |

QUOTE(ShinnKQ @ Jan 9 2011, 07:49 PM) Occational gaming then no problem lar Which GPS ur using PAPAGO?? I wanna get a GPS software.... but Papago kinda expensive RM149 is zit?? It's only RM39 on Samsung Bada!!!! (I'm gamer so you can expect I prepare 1 big portion for games So what other features you will use/want to use for a phone? GPS is decent, after cold start that is. Other features Desire works fine for me. I don't use twitter, Friendstream and what not so all those better not ask me Desire's my first PDA/smartphone and so far is leaving a good impression. Played some games. Angry bird is fine, i play the iPad version too....other than a bigger screen, essentially same game and pretty responsive. Played Asphalt 5...pretty good 3D graphics, much higher frame rates than the Samsung Omnia 2 which my wife currently use. The Accelerometer also pretty responsive. Pretty good so far. Mobile games basically to kill time.(like today when queing to complain at Maxis centre)...i won't spend too much time gaming on mobile...rather play XBOX and Kinect on my 40" LCD.... Also performed a syncing of contacts from MS OUTLOOK 2010 with backup contacts from my Nokia to this phone, so far ok. But i haven't try syncing calendars or notes yet... QUOTE(ShinnKQ @ Jan 11 2011, 05:26 PM) According to a poster who uses it, can last 1 week o_o I got DIGI SmartPlan 68 and Streamyx 4MB at home...so on both lor....hahaha!!! How to do "periodic 3G-ing"?? I need to sync my mails...but now reduce the exchange mails to every 30 minutes instead of 15 minutes.Lol even if it explodes, if u got good casing the casing will take the blow. Lolll. There is a battery app / widget you can download off Market for free. It's called Battery Monitor Widget. Diviner Battery works too. Just type battery reader or sth But I personally use the first 1 cus it's quite detailed for me. First time use you won't see widgets because it's disabled, need to download widget after getting the app] WIFI 3G on both at the same time sure die lar the battery... You need to control the usage for both or else wont last long. On when you NEED to use, off when you don't. Unless you doing push e-mails then have to 3G on all the time lor. You can try periodic 3G-ing. |

QUOTE(phantomash @ Jan 11 2011, 11:38 PM) Gosh, i didn't know the new Desire is SLCD...so is mine AMOLED or SLCD?? How to check? I compared with my wife's Omnia 2 AMOLED....the OMNIA 2 seems to have better and more vivid colors...btw, just tested video recording last night...720p video is pretty useless...jerky frame rates, blurry pictures...phailed....haven't tried DVD quality video recording yet. I think the Omnia 2 is better in camera and videos.... |

A few more question from Desire noobie:
1) Anyone has charge the phone from PC using USB cable? How long does it takes? The cable is just a standard USB cable right? Can buy any 3rd party cable and work? If it's fast enough, i can just charge from my laptop in office...no need to buy another charger. 2) Anyone has tried 3rd party batteries for the Desire? Original very expensive.... btw, just used 46MB of data yesterday....syncing exchange, gmail, stocks, news, facebook etc.... Added on January 12, 2011, 10:18 am QUOTE(Calex @ Jan 12 2011, 10:08 AM) XDA has a way to find out, if I remember correctly it has to do with the stock HBOOT your phone comes with. ok, thanks for the answer, but anyway, regardless SLCD or AMOLED, it look goods enough for me, not a big issue. Just curious only...Another way is you open a black image (if full black better) and view it at different angles (view it sideways, upwards, downwards, upside down pun boleh This post has been edited by Matrix: Jan 12 2011, 10:18 AM |

QUOTE(hazril @ Jan 12 2011, 10:20 AM) you can check on the box bro...it will show your display type...amoled or lcd if not mistaken.... Thanks for the answer. In that case, can i just buy any USB wall charger? Does it needs to be specific what voltage etc?? I think i'll just buy a cheap compatible wall charger if it's ok to put in the office.im using cable at the office...just buy normal cable you can buy at a pc shop...remember,charging using usb is slower to wallplug... btw, what is this battery re-calibrating some the guys here keeps talking about? How do you do it?? |

QUOTE(SihamZhai @ Jan 13 2011, 05:43 PM) Yes...it's a GOOGLE phone remember...GOOGLE=INTERNET. No Internet, No Jalan. You must have a data plan if u want to use smart phone like Android, otherwise, wasted, just stick to feature phones. |
