I have been using Baofeng BF-F8, the second generation of UV-5R. I just acquired a Baofeng BF-F8HP, the successor to BF-F8. It has 8W (instead of 5W) of transmit power and have quicker RX switching. Got to try another round of QSO soon.
For newcomers in digital amateur (ham) radio communications, getting familiar with all the terms, modes, reflectors, etc., can be very confusing.
Covering D-Star (DCS, REF, XRF) to DMR-MARC, DMR+, Brandmeister (BM) and IPSC2 reflectors and finish with Yaesu System Fusion (C4FM), Wires-X, FCS and YSF.

Planning to get a dmr radio... Looks like dmr on uhf is more popular? And why is 439.600 in klang Valley so quiet?
Mostly people now are using a DMR hotspot to connect to the network. Tho, there are works in progress (I think still) to put up some ham DMR repeaters in Klang Valley

I see, but hotpot range quite weak right? As for now i think pdrm and dbkl got their own repeater, saw them holding mototrbo's wondering if it's a uhf or vhf set

Hotspot is very small. Can only work in your house if you have the normal setup. If you have a better antenna or amplifier etc. Can cover some area lol
Anyway, those are using UHF. PDRM uses P25 radios. Those are AES256 encrypted and the key are changed everyday over the air so don't even bother even NSA can't defeat those.

Thanks man! any idea why uhf radio's are only 4watt while vhf is 5watt?
