I just passed my ORAE today. Have been interested with HAM since schooling time and finally took the exam.
I need two Class A assignment holders to be my reference.

They haven't post your AA? Have they updated their online db? I haven't got my gateway AA which I renewed last year. They're using a third party to print the AA and post it out. I guess you can go to their Cyberjaya's office and ask them to print it there and then.

Not yet. I submit to Cyberjaya office, but they say there are delays due to system migration.

Ah, heard about it too. The system migration. I guess they're done with the migration now.

Done, but the word given to me is that the new system is still "trial and error", quoting the staff that returned my call.

Just got my AA right before November. My callsign is 9W2NNS. Haven't made my first QSO yet. Hehe.

Congratulations! Now people are trying to port over to digital stuff like Yeasu Fusion and DMR. I guess you could skip everything and just jump over on UHF lol
I only keep one Baofeng for VHF use.

I like both digital and analogue radio. I admire digital radio of having talk groups linked through the internet which allows global conversation, and yet I like the challenge of analogue radio to reach out as far as it can. Maybe many veterans have been bored with analogue radio and I'm still new in exploring it.

My QTH is Puchong. Anyone near here can QSO with me, although I have limited transmit range with handheld, but can try.

I have been using Baofeng BF-F8, the second generation of UV-5R. I just acquired a Baofeng BF-F8HP, the successor to BF-F8. It has 8W (instead of 5W) of transmit power and have quicker RX switching. Got to try another round of QSO soon. biggrin.gif

For newcomers in digital amateur (ham) radio communications, getting familiar with all the terms, modes, reflectors, etc., can be very confusing.

Covering D-Star (DCS, REF, XRF) to DMR-MARC, DMR+, Brandmeister (BM) and IPSC2 reflectors and finish with Yaesu System Fusion (C4FM), Wires-X, FCS and YSF.

Hope this video will help

Good info. Watched it and I am now more familiar with the terminologies.
I ordered a Radioddity Baofeng RD-5R, the cheapest Tier II DMR handheld.
