QUOTE(wiraone @ Sep 26 2017, 08:38 AM) It is UHF at the moment, and on the radio side, we're using a spare Yaesu DR1X repeater with MMDVM modem (http://mmdvm.blogspot.my/p/packages.html). Tested it working okay before it went up to the repeater site, guess with all other RF interference up there, the RF part becomes a bit deaf. I see a familiar callsign ... BTW, if you're interested in MMDVM, 9W2SVT (a maker enthusiast) is currently developing a hotspot which lets you communicate with hams around the world on DMR. You can see his work in FB group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/MYDigitalVoice/ I've posted some latest photos of the SVT MMDVM HAT at the URL below .... https://www.facebook.com/SVTmaker/ |

QUOTE(thenuts15 @ Nov 5 2017, 01:57 PM) Hi,its been long i last left Radio Amateur after passing my exam.Planning to restart this hobby. If you are operating a dualband transceiver with dual band antenna, there should not be a need for an antenna tuner since the antenna was factory tuned to have good SWR for both bands. I am planning to get this set: Transceiver TYT TH-8600 Antenna Diamond X700 Power supply maybe: Diamond GSV1200 or Diamond GSV3000 or Diamond GZV4000 still figuring out on swr+dummy load+antenna tuner Any advice? You would need one for long wavelength ones like HF. For UHV, VHF, not so critical because it is short. |

Any idea where i can get the long mast pole and any idea how much it cost? Should be available from hardware store nearby.. they deliver to you site. Dont forget guide (guy) wire cable and wire clamp. I am not associated with the info below. However will give you some idea. QUOTE(thenuts15 @ Nov 6 2017, 10:44 AM) So antenna tuner ia not necessary. How about dummy load? Dummy load is needed only if you are always removing the antenna. Any idea where i can get the long mast pole and any idea how much it cost? Usually if you combine a load + antenna termination it means that you are compensating for a very bad SWR reading. Considering that the antenna was factory designed for UHF/VHF, you should not worry much. Usually these are critical only if you play on HF or you are making your own antenna. Unrelated: [WTS] I am looking for LOCKED/BRICKED/Electcoms Mototrbo rig/radio. Looking for cheap as locked radio can't be used anymore(due to read/write password or 3 retry limit) Want to make it as part/research purposes. |

It will specify the amps that the radio will draw at what power level you set it to. QUOTE(mengsuan @ Nov 11 2017, 04:44 PM) Congratulations! Now people are trying to port over to digital stuff like Yeasu Fusion and DMR. I guess you could skip everything and just jump over on UHF lolI only keep one Baofeng for VHF use. |

I guess you could skip everything and just jump over on UHF lol I like both digital and analogue radio. I admire digital radio of having talk groups linked through the internet which allows global conversation, and yet I like the challenge of analogue radio to reach out as far as it can. Maybe many veterans have been bored with analogue radio and I'm still new in exploring it.I only keep one Baofeng for VHF use. |

QUOTE(thenuts15 @ Nov 13 2017, 09:30 PM) Analog still will be around just like how repeaters are still supporting CTCSS instead of the better DCS squelch(for some reason). Just that digital offers more superior sound quality and range. Plus, more data can be relayed such as GPS location, pictures etc. with the System Fusion. Fusion is a protocol/encoding that Yeasu made. You have to own a Yeasu rig with a supporting Yeasu repeater in order to use this system. DMR however, is open. You can pick up any radio that supports DMR tier 2 such as Hytera, Motorola, TYT etc. I personally prefer DMR more since it is more widely accepted/used compared to Fusion and the market has anything from low budget to very high budget ranges of equipment that supports DMR. Fusion, you have to be stuck with buying a Yeasu and their limited models for a fortune. P/s: Try to stay away from the Baofeng DMR dual band. A lot of people are having problem with it. Especially that the CPU is locked on Tier 1. This post has been edited by aminpro: Nov 14 2017, 07:27 AM |

My QTH is Puchong. Anyone near here can QSO with me, although I have limited transmit range with handheld, but can try.

QUOTE(wiraone @ Sep 25 2017, 04:33 PM) We've put one experimental repeater last weekend but we've problem with it. It is hard to trigger the repeater, need to fine tune the RF part. The repeater is based on MMDVM and for now, it will be local only. Will announce it here when we get it up and running. Still having problems triggering the repeater? I MIGHT be able to try look at the configs. Got my own hotspot recently and fixed a similar problem. |
