Practice + Performances. We're on a tight budget.
But the instruments no need to be so important, as most of the students will be using our own instruments. Except the drums.

so the drums and the amps must be good. Vox AD amps, huh? okay, okay, will look into it. and SX Bass? I figured Tama basic set should be around RM2500, and RM1000 for the Bass, then RM1500 for a bass amp and a guitar amp.

should be quite okay, right?

ps: thanks LedZep. smile.gif

np... anyway imo the snare and toms should be decent sounding. If the budget permits, invest a little more on a good pair of cymbals. A good crash and ride could improve the overall sound of performances + practices while on the other hand, a screwed-up sounding crash will almost screw up everything. Just ask those who used to practise at Black Widow. tongue.gif

for drums, for such a low budget, the drum shells doesnt really matter that much. important thing is to get it tuned correctly. make sure the hardware is durable. spend money changing the skins. i'll suggest aquarians or remo but i prefer the former. as for cymbals, low end zildjians arent that great. why not drop by js music and test out some staggs? staggs are awesome cymbals for a reasonable price. alot of ppl are getting staggs lately. i even heard jimmy(tempered mental) bought over 5 cymbals of staggs. since its for college, make sure the cymbals u buy are the thick ones as there will be some stupid drummers who dont appreciate and just wana whack the cymbals til they break. same goes to the skin.

mateenjohan : get the Roland Cube 15 or the Vox ADV15T, or if you can afford it, go for the Roland Cube 30 or the Vox ADV30T. They are, so far, the best choices wink.gif

The guitar you can probably carry, but the amp might be abit more problematic.....
Are you going to be travelling with the guitar alot? Or just this one trip?

And if you're a beginner...... well...... honestly..... that's a good package. But don't forget..... you're going to have to buy a guitar case, wires, and other misc stuff..... so try to haggle with the store to get these things thrown for free. Sometimes, they do.

Ibanez 7-string? Pretty expensive and quite rare in Bentley. Even the fixed bridge RG 7 cost cost between 2-3k if i'm not mistaken. Unless you talking about Ibanez 7-string GIO which a lil bit more than 1k. That was 1-2 years back. I don't know about now.

Generally, 7-string are pretty rare and doesn't cost cheap. Do Re Mi near Chow Kit that have few dirt cheap (between RM 600-RM 1k) China-made 7-string which have a very rough workmanship in the shape of Strat & RG laugh.gif

If your friend confident about buying online (like you thumbup.gif ), you can try Ebay. Careful of Ibanez 7-string ripoff from China. Look almost the same. rclxub.gif

Hmmmmmmm.... 5 years ago...... right when KornBiscuits starting appearing on the scene...... COINCIDENCE?????!!!! I THINK NOT!!!!!

And I think a 2.5k is over his budget......... will have to check with him and see if he can find a GIO.

eh but the epi LP 7-string is nice.
the neck isnt much wider than the normal 6-string, unlike the ibanez 7-strings.
very comfortable, was around RM1.5k that time.

Very hard to find nowadays. Limited run during the nu-metal fever.
Saw some on Ebay. Some are Custom-made by Epi and some are not. So careful yah, afraid you paid a Custom-Shop price for a normal version notworthy.gif
