i thought this topic is for cheap guitars and cheap amps. hughes and kettner amp heads are not cheap as far as i know. roland, ampeg and tech21 arent that cheap too. haha.

the most amazing? its a good amp, but definitely not one of the most amazing metal amps around. u do know very well zakk had to come up with mxr for his signature overdrive pedal which was not used merely as an overdrive but to push his amp. hmmm... which marshall was it again?

seen my setup yet? one for anything on the gt8(everything from wah to whammy!!!!!!), one expression pedal(ev5. this too, can be assigned to anything on the GT8) but is mostly used as a volume pedal and my wonderful wah(and the auto footswitch features helps alot!). now i wish i have 4 legs

ur son has more guitars then he already needs. u shouldve gotten him a FX pedal. at least a multi efx to start off with. ur son is really lucky to have u buy all that when he's just learning. wana adopt me? haha. anyways, make sure ur son saves up for his future gears as itll help him appreciate the gears more. alot of my gears are bought myself by saving up since i was 12, winning state/national level science competitions, playing as a session guitarist. all for my GAS.

for drums, for such a low budget, the drum shells doesnt really matter that much. important thing is to get it tuned correctly. make sure the hardware is durable. spend money changing the skins. i'll suggest aquarians or remo but i prefer the former. as for cymbals, low end zildjians arent that great. why not drop by js music and test out some staggs? staggs are awesome cymbals for a reasonable price. alot of ppl are getting staggs lately. i even heard jimmy(tempered mental) bought over 5 cymbals of staggs. since its for college, make sure the cymbals u buy are the thick ones as there will be some stupid drummers who dont appreciate and just wana whack the cymbals til they break. same goes to the skin.

u mean staggs cymbals? they are insanely cheap. price varies from the model. u can go try them at js music. yes,i said TRY!

zoom gfx5 is not a 505

if u're really into those kind of guitars, then get a better RG with that money than a jem555

blacktrix is right. it aint THAT heavy til it hurts. ive played long shows before and still no complaints. i also practice standing up. thats like an hour or more everyday. yes, its heavier than other guitars but you'll get used to it (and for me, love the weight). im no zakk wylde, im an unbelievably underweight skinny short guy rocking with a les paul. if i can do it why cant u all?


haha. maybe coz i dont have a belly and my tummy is flat thus making it 'fit' confortably. lol

having a les paul wont affect ur speed. if u're comfortable with it u can shred with it. im used to fat necks. pass me an ibanez RG and i'll have problems shredding cleanly. i find that i have more control over my bends and vibrato with a thick neck guitar. IMO playing good bends and vibrato is more important than speed for me.

this "LP is super insane heavy that its uncomfortable" topic is blown out of proportion. LP is heavier than usual guitars but does not make it THAT heavy and THAT uncomfortable. and no, wasnt my intention to make whoever sound weak(or a wussy). just because its uncomfortable for you doesnt make it uncomfortable for everyone else. like i said, its preference. remember, i play a strat too.

yea, i dont have to pick up my bandmates for gigs, and kuching's jam aint as bad as KL's.but i guess if u're tired then u're tired. ive played in kl too u know. once i know im gona get on stage, i get excited and pumped up the entire day. of course i'll just be stuck in bed the next day. i know what u mean by spending the entire day just for one gig. hey, my former band has 7 freakin bandmates and theres always alot of problems. our soundcheck can take over 3 hours. YES 3 HOURS!!!!
