Probably will be...... but bringing them back would be a REAL b****...... imagine going through customs with that!!!!

almost any musical related equipment is cheaper there.
for higher end stuff, those that cost around rm5k or more.
going down to singapore yourself and buying the same item, you can easily save rm1k.
also dont worry about customs.
if its a guitar they wont do anything.
if its an amp/electrical item, they will tax you.
but couple excuses you can give.
first obviously say its a gift.
second, ask the shop to write you a repair invoice, and tell customs you came to collect an amp which was sent for repair.
either way you probably gotta get rid of the packaging.

if you're gonna drive down there to get an amp, and are willing to pay tax.
tax if im not mistaken is 30%.
and since the amp you're looking for is under rm1k, better you get it here.

sure i remember you, SE themer now son using my K700 but my daughter using K750i Actually bought my son Ibanez Bass Starter Kit last year but now he wants Electric guitar.

But really on what kind of amp you get. If it's the really expensive one, above 2k range...... it's still going to be REALLY HEAVY to bring back. Don't forget...... you still have to carry it to Malaysia. If you're in a car.... just proper it in the trunk and when the customs officer asks, say it's part of the car's audio system! Damn shyok shyok one leh!!!!

If you're buying a small mini practise amp, then just buy it here. A good combo amp will set you back for about RM1500.... I hear everyone in this thread is RAVING about the Vox amp.....

yah i lucky man to have 4 great children but no shiok lah buying the guitar, got to spend money on guitar and amps and no more budget for gadgets Actually my son agreed that i pay part of the guitar and the other part deduct from his allowances (100% interest free program ) At first thought of getting Ibanez Electric Guitar set for about RM900, but he wanted the ESP AX-50 and after seeing pics of AX-50 on the net, can understand why he wants it.

blacktrix, problem is i don't know what amp to buy. Initially thinking of getting a cheap amp (below RM500) but after further consideration and the fact that my son 10Watt bass amp so so only, might as well invest in a more reasonable amp for the next few years. Nerd mentioned that VOX is value for money, what's you opinion on VOX. Noted you mentioned RM1500 for good amp, any reasonable amp for RM1K?

Actually..... although the AX-50 looks freakin' awsome....... I would have to say, not a practical FIRST guitar. Maybe as a second guitar, but definately not a first...... instead of just drooling over images of the guitar, take him down to a Guitar Collection (the one in Mid Valley and 1 Utama has a really wide range) and get him to test out a few guitars...... you'll be surprised how much more fun he can get out of an Eclipse model or something with a Tremolo/Whammy bar.....

Actually, the AX-50 won't be my son's first guitar but his 5th. He has a "baby" electric guitar when he was real young, 2 "normal" guitar and a bass guitar. He has been learning classical guitar for a year and bass for 6th months and also taking drum classes.

Called up SG Citymusic and also CK Music. Well the price of AV30/50VT is 30% cheaper in SG. If consider tax 30% then price same.

Yeah, they marked up the price alr... most of us gotten our ADs end of last year when they were having this year-end sales heh. RM450 for the 15 and RM900 for the 30, what could be better?
