Did you know that the Les Paul was once supposed to be under Fender? There was rumors in the company that the great Les Paul was going over to Fender to create the ultimate guitar.... However, the Strat was released to a bigger success that they didn't need the support of Les.

Did you know that I'm also full of S**T?
hahahahahahaha

Whats the most suitable electric guitar for beginner to learn ? A LP, a SC or one like the GRX40 with 2 single coil and a humbucker?

ilfr, try browsing through that thread, you'll find plenty of information.
below 300RM... i dunno, probably a 15W amp, since they all sound the same, don't worry too much about the brand. If you can put 400RM, I think you can get the "good" 15W, such as Roland Cube15 and Vox AD15. Correct me if I'm wrong about their prices though...

As for the guitar, you can't go wrong with the Yamaha entry level guitars. Very good price, good quality, and you don't pay for the brand. Check out the shops list. In Yamaha they also sell Lany's amp, so you can get a Laney 15W + the Yamaha and possibly get a good bargain wink.gif

Hello everybody!!!! biggrin.gif

Just dropping in to say how happy I am to have found an absolute gem. My guy has been talking non-stop about his friend who was a luthier, right. And this guy was an apprentice of some big nob in Canada or sumthin. So, he has returned to Malaysia and is currently producing ABSOLUTELY BLOODY BRILLIANT ACOUSTIC GUITARS!!! My friend took in 4 of 'em to help him sell them. There was also a second hand min Takamine on sale at his shop. I triep the Takamine first, great sound, deep bass and so on. But I wasn't gonna expect what happened next. I strummed an E' on this locally made guitar and I was shocked. It was georgeous. I felt like I was playing a RM5000 Taylor. The neck was smooth (slim), it was slightly small and light but the bass and tone was out of this world. I'm not really good at describig how guitars sound like. But once you play this baby, you'd know immediately that it was first class hand made sh*t..

The guitar goes by the name Free Man (the surname of his master I think - Freeman)
it retails at around RM1800 <--- worth every penny
spruce stika solid top, bindings etc.. gotta see it to believe it. I'll take pix and show u guys wub.gif

if you're a beginner, you can still check out those 3 points. You just have to trust your judgment / unconscious - it'll work wink.gif
for yamaha, go to KL plaza, and for friendly staff, go to CK Music. JS music might be friendly too, they've just opened and are right behind CK music. CK and JS don't sell yamaha though, but nvmind.
check out the music shop thread

have fun there !

Hi man,
I went to the yamaha shop to look around for guitar just now.......saw this entry level Pacifica 012... RM600 and one RGX121 (2 hum, 1 coil) RM930...have u ever heard about them?

They're both good guitars, did you try them ? When you do, just focus on:

- your left hand on the neck : must feel comfortable and fast, it really depends on your hand shape, check how smoothly is the finish on the back of the neck, and the material on the toop side of the neck.

- the body shape : when you're sitting down, check the guitar is not hurting you laugh.gif

- finally, the sound : check all the pick ups sound, all the combinations, in clear and distortion settings.

- one more thing : try a guitar model which is just slightly more expensive (from yamaha still) (let's say around 1200RM) and see how it compares to the entry level ones you're trying. Maybe it'll totally worth putting in the extra cash ? Maybe not. Be sure.

finally, take home the guitar you prefer the most wink.gif go try other guitars too, in bentley for instance.

Aww Pix, I unfortunately, I dun have RM1800 lying around under my bed haha. But, if I do have money soon, I'm gonna get one for meself. Of course, I have to sell my other acoustics first. Dun wanna hav too many lying around the house lol.

I don't have the exact address, but if you are familiar with SS15, near Taylor's? there's a mini shopping mall in there. The store is on the second floor. Its not a big mall, so ur sure to find it. The shop also sells SXs, second hands, and does repairs. Its opened rather late, around 12 ish and the owner is simon. Check it out!
