+1 If you have cash to be use then go for it. I would attend again if I had the chance [mine were unofficial] .

shoot and error is good but with someone to guide you, it will speed up the process if the teacher is good and you a good listener.  smile.gif

Good luck mate, and best of tips I can give is like chobo said earlier.. try to discover your own style of shooting.

because most of those who won competition or didn't won a competition basically because of their originality and lack of creative mind.

cause everyone is basically using the same gear... so what set you apart is the way you think... which leads to your point of view... your creativity... the way you composite...

That's why I love the phrase "making a picture" instead of "taking a picture".

Making a picture takes the effort of thinking and creative process into producing the final picture. icon_idea.gif

Fuuhhh.. After carrying my prime for half a day yesterday, suddenly the 18105 kit feels heavier. Having more than 1 lens made me to plan my shots, cos I'm a bit lazy having
to change lenses. tongue.gif

Bokeh wise. But I'm planning mainly for the f/1.4 for low light ;-). My 1635 is too slow at f/4 for low light. Well there's VR, but if shoot something moving -> fail (worse when D90 ISO not even close to the FX).

transition frm zooms to primes? whistling.gif

btw, my fren r hunting some old lenses
he's deciding between AFD 24-85 f/2.8-4 n AFS 24-85 f/3.5-4.5
which is better choice?
of cos d bigger aperture of AFD is better, but AFS build n performance much better in reviews

I upgraded from D40 to D90 last time, so I will not upgrade body anymore, already satisfied with D90 =D

Next will upgrade my flash (Di622 really sucks in TTL) and maybe a prime. And the rest goes to dry box, SD cards, filters and last but not least my working pc.

Athlon 64 3000+ can't really cope with CS5 >.<

i7 is overkill for me, I might just get a decent i5 =D
