Sorry to interrupt the filter discussion... Just realized Nikon offered D3s + 24 1.4 + 24-70 2.8 as grand prize for NPCI 2010... Not like I stand any chance to win any but I look up all the page but can't get the entry form/entry page.

Anyone can find it?

Woah so easy to be found? I was finding so hard... thanks!

Ermm... I can't even think of any of my photos worth entering the contest. Mostly noob scenery photos. Just enter as is, to join the fun lol.

Who knows the judge has a different point of view than me and thinks this photo is nice haha

I upgraded from D40 to D90 last time, so I will not upgrade body anymore, already satisfied with D90 =D

Next will upgrade my flash (Di622 really sucks in TTL) and maybe a prime. And the rest goes to dry box, SD cards, filters and last but not least my working pc.

Athlon 64 3000+ can't really cope with CS5 >.<

Argh, I like 50mm range more than 85mm but took the 85mm because the 50mm f/1.4G was just so so :S.

Nevermind, live with 85mm until then tongue.gif.
*
Sell 85mm later and get 50mm 1.2 N when it's released XD

Or keep both whistling.gif

Hey guys, is it normalthat the lens will produce sound when it try to focus a thing... My lens is 18-105mm
*
Try turn off VR and see whether the sound is still there or not. It should be the sound of the VR working.

elainor, that sound is so sharp and that never happened to my 18-105... better send back to warranty.

And your signature for your lowyat is too long. read up the rules please. even just 2 images (speedtest + gearlist) is too long. u can choose 2 and align it side by side....

yea i guess im in the line now...thanks mate...

oh yea back to the lens, so sometimes when u cant focus an object and it keeps focus and focus until u released the shutter button...it wont produce that kind of sound at all?
*
There's the focusing sound but not as sharp as yours, very tame and slow... not sharp at all. That's my copy la.

You can compare yourself with the on at BTS times square. I tried and that one is similar with mine.

lol BenSow, I am using 18-105 now but I miss my ex 18-55...
18-105mm MFD too long and heavy for me, 18-55 can shoot nearer and easier with one hand (sometimes I hold something with left hand and shoot with right hand one-handed)...

But because the 18-105 has longer reach and look better so I didn't sell off and get a 18-55 VR. And why 18-55 not good? It's sharper than mine and easy to carry.

Guys, i'm thinking to get prime for potrait...

which u think suitable for using with DX body (D90)?

Nikon AF-S 35mm f1.8G
Nikon AF-D 20mm f2.8
Nikon AF-D 50mm f1.8
*
Since you said for portrait and using D90 (with motor), in your list above 50mm suits the job best and with the cheapest price...

But don't expect super good quality from the 50mm 1.8, it's a sub-RM400 glass. The bokeh is not creamy or round, sometimes if background is messy the bokeh is also messy...

If budget allows you may try 50mm 1.4D or the better 1.4G.
