its not wrong to attend photo workshop . its gud cos u have someone to guide you especially in for studio shooting.
*
+1 If you have cash to be use then go for it. I would attend again if I had the chance [mine were unofficial] .

shoot and error is good but with someone to guide you, it will speed up the process if the teacher is good and you a good listener. smile.gif

Thanks...I decide to see what's going on after 3months...tonight will be the 1st class but I have to OT too
Of course there will be a new class after 3months laugh.gif

Good luck mate, and best of tips I can give is like chobo said earlier.. try to discover your own style of shooting.

because most of those who won competition or didn't won a competition basically because of their originality and lack of creative mind.

I upgraded from D40 to D90 last time, so I will not upgrade body anymore, already satisfied with D90 =D

Next will upgrade my flash (Di622 really sucks in TTL) and maybe a prime. And the rest goes to dry box, SD cards, filters and last but not least my working pc.

Athlon 64 3000+ can't really cope with CS5 >.<

why not go for i7 980x brows.gif

So far what I've been seeing in this forum is nothing else than just equipment talk.... very few talking about technique.. its like 80% equipment and less than 20% techniques and skills....

haihz~ why not instead of looking for a expensive lenses and just go with cheap lenses ~.~ not to say that I can't afford but I lost sense of people learning about how to improve themselves rather than gloating about gears ~.~

even Ansel Adams was using a piece of card to vision his pictures back in those ol' days and for me I find it that his pictures were very good very well composed even comparing to modern day technology

I prefer newbies to worry how to use the equipment and learn to overcome the limitations rather than whether or not the equipment performs. Every lens have their own characteristics, and it's not about whether or not it's quality is good or not.
*
yep for me photography is about seizing the moment. I love watching how people react with their natural expression. Most prefer they pose themselves because if I were to make them pose for me... seems abit awkward unless they are comfortable with it brows.gif

I would try to grab as much opportunity as possible to take photos, can't grab much experience at home. Yeah, human subjects always make a photo very interesting and livelier.
*
hehe most of the time, I'll practice at home... with my flashgun as my model. Try to practice compose from there... when my works done then.. maybe I'll travel by bus to kelantan or terengganu try to explore the world of outside the house biggrin.gif

I've seen this 1 guy... doing a portrait for people of detroit and I must say... the photos are inspiring.. thumbup.gif

Just love how he captured those portrait rclxms.gif

People keep forgetting that the background also plays an important role... it clears that in KTCY's photo he does care about the background rclxms.gif

Sigma 30mm f/1.4, Nikkor 35mm f/1.8, Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G
All this can AF with D3100.
D3100 noise control better than D90 but D3100 don't have AF motor which mean have to reply on AF-S lens which are usually more expensive.
24-70.

Thanks.. appreciated the fast response and straight forward

It is actually the same as true story of a photojournalist, a guy taking a picture of a kid being eaten alive by crows... untill that kid is dead... at last he won or not... [not sure] and last resort was suicide because of the disturbed photo

the photo ... correction not crows but a vulture http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5241442 and yeah won a pulitzer award over the photo

are going around asking opinion on what lens to use
If you’re asking people what lens they use to understand their style, that I understand. If you’re asking people what lenses they use because you have no idea on what to use or have no confidence in what you have, then clearly you do not know enough of the technical basics, your style nor your preference. A good sign to stay away.

I guess you never been shopping with a girl or lady before? if not... you would be testing all the lenses including camera on demo or not but at last just walk away without buying anything laugh.gif
