i didn't change anything other than enable the transparency in .Xdefaults and layout in ncmpcpp config.

Bwahahaha!!... actually, it's the other way round for girls. I actually got a big laugh the other day when the gf wanted to use my netbook to check her mail, and it booted into dwm and she had no idea what to do. She spent a whole 5 minutes clicking everywhere, pressing various button combos, etc before she finally gave up and yelled at me. laugh.gif

anyhow its still in development state.. not even matured yet. maybe in time it'll be useable and practical enough for everyday use

No, don't compare Unity with Compiz because they are different entirely. Compiz is a desktop compositing effects, while Unity is a desktop environment, made for the Wayland graphical server, but not X11.
